    Thank you so much for this video! Finding certain shades of lipstick and eyeshadow is SO tough for us fair skinned folks since all of the make up trends in the last 5-8 years have been the super warm toned/cranberry/rusty looks which all look straight up red on me 😬

      For sure! Because I'm super into makeup I literally go to Ulta and Sephora every week (plus there are both 10 min. from my house) to swatch every new lipstick I can find..and it is SO rare I find a cool toned lipstick from mainstream brands. ANNOYING. Even darker skinned people have cool tones sometimes!

      Now that’s a tough one! 😉 I’m torn between bubblegum cool pink (of which there are many now but they tend to look unnatural) and finding others that lean cooler or neutral but actually look good…but not technically cool in color, maybe it can be a challenge.

    All right, so I am still absolutely obsessed with this video! Thank you for making me aware of brands I didn’t know were decent, like flower beauty. They have a shade called buttercup in that lipstick you mentioned, which looks perfect for cool skin tones, too! I have been a Chapstick addict since childhood. I can’t stand not having something on my lips 24/7. Since I discovered makeup about a year and a half ago, it’s been so fun finding colored products to use instead of just plain old lip balm. I was just randomly trying colors and wasting a lot of money (I think I’ve already given away half of my collection, which were oranges, peaches, and warm browns), and now it is so nice to have this list and know that with it, I can’t go wrong with anything I choose! Thanks again, Jessica! I’m not a blush addict like I am a lipstick addict, but I am looking forward to your blush list as well. If you ever decide to do a video on eyeshadows for cool toned peeps, that would be most welcome, too! Oh, and one more thing, I appreciate that you did a range of brands from more affordable to more high-end. It’s great to have all the options. If I’m going to buy something expensive I want to know I’m getting the color right right off the bat!
    I don’t know many people who understand and appreciate gray lipsticks!❤🎉😂 love you!

      Thank you so much! I am SO happy when I'm helpful! I would warn you off buttercup by the way, have it and it is straight up orange. The only other cool one in the line is Jasmine and it is a darker jammy purple leaning raspberry color. Blossom is sort of a more neutral slightly orangey brown if you are looking for more of a nude. The blush video just went up if you're curious too! 🥰

    thank you so much for filming this, this is such an amazing resource. i'm 45 now and when i was younger i could get away with way more in terms of colour temperature but now that i'm older, it's cool tones only. in fact, most neutrals that i try look straight up warm on me - there are a few exceptions but they're so rare that unless something specific catches my eye about a neutral, and/or it's similar to other neutrals that look good on me, i don't even bother looking for neutral makeup (except foundation/concealer because i'm a fair cool olive and neutral is really the closest i can get to that).
    i've seen some videos tailored toward cool-toned "trend" and it has me shaking my head. i really do feel as though for some reason the beauty industry forgot that there are genuinely cool-toned folks out there who can't really wear warms or even neutrals. so many makeup lines only have warm-leaning stuff and it boggles my mind. so thank you, thank you so much for releasing this video. i'm on such a tight budget and i just want to find things that work for me and i can't afford to buy whatever i think "might" work and of course covid has changed the way people shop (being able to try things on or sample in-store, etc).

    • @redgirlreviews
      @redgirlreviews  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes! It is a constant frustration for me what big makeup brands will label as 'cool'...NO on the vast majority of them and when they do finally make a cool based color it is something unflattering like cool bubblegum or neon blue based pinks...uhhh who is that supposed to look good on? I would love to start my own line that is all muddy muted true gorgeous cool and natural colors for fair and cool toned people just so I'd have something I could buy myself!

    • @bristremel1554
      @bristremel1554 Před 2 měsíci

      @@redgirlreviews yes! i have been thinking the same thing, haha. ever since i've decided to get back into wearing makeup (i took a break throughout most of my 30s and early 40s and just getting back into it now), my endless frustration with not finding colours I could wear - first taking a long time to find out that I am genuinely, truly cool-toned and then secondly, realizing that beauty brands really do not seem to know how to make true cool-toned colours that, like you said, aren't ridiculously hued - has had me ready to give up so many times.
      i have this ongoing dream of starting my own line that is muted, cool-toned colours for fair and cool-toned folks. i've seen lots of people (even people who aren't cool-toned but are definitely fair) lament the overabundance of saturation in makeup colours. right now i'm on the lookout for the perfect, very pale, cool-toned nude lipstick, specifically for an ombrêd look i have the perfect brown lip liner for (Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Liner in Cappuccino). for me it'll have to have a greyish-purple undertone to look its best. i also only support cruelty free brands and i struggle with fragrance so it's even more of a process! the closest i've come so far is Makeup by Mario Super Satin lipstick in either Midtown (which is described as 'neutral'; in this case i would consider a true neutral because i plan to wear it with a darker, cool brown lip liner which will cool/muddy the colour even further) or South Shore, although South Shore looks darker than my intended purpose on most of the people i've seen swatch it. however i worry about the fragrance because i know it has one - only one person i've watched has described it, saying it is a "very faint" vanilla scent. i'm still trying to decide if i want to take the risk - in Canada where i live, it retails for $38 which is a big investment for me.

      @@bristremel1554 I hear ya and am also always searching for that perfect pale muddy nudy cool color as well. Have you seen some of my cool lipstick videos? Some of those might work but most of the ones that are like that that I've found tend to be lip glosses instead..argh. Finding Ferdinand has a color picker that allows you to make your own lipstick that I might give a go though... BTW have you seen the MMario lippies in store yet and swatched them? I was very excited when they came out and went and checked them out and was so bummed to find they ALL pulled SO warm on me. I was specifically looking at South Shore as well. @@redgirlreviews i watched this one and i'm about halfway through your video on cool browns - i have it open in another tab as we speak. i will do a search on your videos and see what else i can find.
      i haven't been able to go in-store. for me shopping in-person hasn't been feasible for such a long time. i'm basically limited to online searching which is why i try to watch as many different people with as many different skin tones and colourings try colours i'm really interested in to see if they have any surprising ways they pull on people. it's not perfect but sometimes it works.
      i hear you about pulling warm. that's my other fear about MMario (and other brands in general) - there seems to be almost a fear of grey in makeup, unless it's actual black or grey. i just got the Stone Cold Fox palette from ColourPop and it took me an actual year to make the decision on that - and i was SO disappointed i was almost angry! every single one of the colours, with the exception of the black, the deeper grey, the metallic silver, and ONE of the light-medium taupe shades, pulls not just warm, but brown on me. in all the images and swatches i've seen people do i've picked up mauves, greys, taupes, all this wonderful range. i got it in persaon and i swatched them all on my arm and they literally all looked brown except the greys. i was blown away. all the colours people were describing as the 'mauves,' 'roses' and 'pinks' were straight up brown - and not neutral, but warm. the taupes have no grey in them whatsoever - they're just brown with, on my skin, a clear yellow or orange bias, despite whatever other bias they might have (yellow or warm pinky-brown, etc). i can't wear any of the shimmers but the silver one - they all have a gold cast and a warmth to them and make my skin look ruddy and weird. i am so disappointed - i was expected honestly about half the palette to be unusable without doctoring it with about 50% grey/white/silver, but this was shocking to me given how many cool-toned people i've seen try it on and have it look cool-toned on them.
      i've been to the Finding Ferdinand website and i saw they have the colour picker/mixer. i'm going to give that another go. to be quite honest with you, even if i end up having to pay an astronomical price for a lipstick (because i'm in Canada, and most things are American or European and so there's exhange, duties, heavy shipping fees, etc), if it ends up suiting me and being a colour that does what i need it to without having to have a backup stash of products to modify it, i'd probably just rather pay the price to go the more expensive route. i mean, even in the past when i had a lipstick i loved, so little product actually gets used each time - it would take me years to go through a tube. so it's a worthwhile investment to me. i'm not someone who wants a huge collection of makeup - i just want products i can rely on, to do a small handful of looks. it's just so hard to find those products!
      and i hear you about the gloss thing. most of the time i find a colour i love, it's in gloss format. i used to love glosses but i don't anymore. i still like the texture but glosses tend to be the more fragranced products, they tend to be more prone to shimmer/glitter (which i no longer wear well on the cheeks or lips), and they tend to be sheer and shiny, which are not qualities i look for anymore. in lip products, i'm looking for things that have intense enough colour that i can use very little, because i love the colour but dislike the lasting sensation of product sitting anywhere on my face, and maybe a soft matte to cream formula would be my ideal for lips. i got Urban Decay Vice Shine lipstick in Local and i LOVE the colour - it's a beautiful, sheer, mid-toned lilac pink colour - but the shine is a lot for me, even with a blotted layer. they have a really nice texture though, and stay moisturizing on the lips, and best of all no fragrance.

    • @redgirlreviews
      @redgirlreviews  Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@bristremel1554 I've actually never tried those urban decay lipsticks and am curious now! I'm heading out to ulta right now and going to swatch them. I noticed they have one online that looks really similar to Local but is in their more satin/matte formula called Backtalk specifically I wanted to go see. BTW I think Phytosurgence that I mentioned in another comment is a Canadian company...not 100% on that but I feel like I saw that somewhere...yes! I just checked and they are in Vancouver so free shipping for you.
