The Yorker ball doesn't give you much room or time to react as a batsman. You are cramped for space and can't swing the bat fully. A helicopter shot is Dhoni's ingenuity to counter such balls. It's difficult to execute and takes a toll on your shoulders (swinging your arm in a cramped space, using forearm muscles instead of biceps). He's practiced a lot and perfected it like no one else.
Yeah it’s very similar to a golf swing I’d say almost identical just more rounded at the top! And I think you have the muscles confused. Both action use forearm but a regular shot uses tricep not bicep and the helicopter shot would use more biceps and shoulders. Someone hitting a traditional six either straight or over long-on would more closely resemble a golf swing. If you see the clip of Dhoni hitting the winning 6 when India won the World Cup in 2011,(look for the short titled *Dhoni finishes off in style!* ) it was a traditional swing resembling a golf swing. The Yorker ball doesn't give you much room or time to react as a batsman. You are cramped for space and can't swing the bat fully. A helicopter shot is Dhoni's ingenuity to counter such balls. It's difficult to execute and takes a toll on your shoulders (swinging your arm in a cramped space, using forearm muscles instead of biceps). He's practiced a lot and perfected it like no one else.
Yeah it’s very similar to a golf swing I’d say almost identical just more rounded at the top! And I think you have the muscles confused. Both action use forearm but a regular shot uses tricep not bicep and the helicopter shot would use more biceps and shoulders.
But it is insane how he was able to create his own shot to adapt to the difficulty of a perfectly placed yorker

Someone hitting a traditional six either straight or over long-on would more closely resemble a golf swing. If you see the clip of Dhoni hitting the winning 6 when India won the World Cup in 2011,(look for the short titled *Dhoni finishes off in style!* ) it was a traditional swing resembling a golf swing. The difference in follow-through is significant
