VEPR shown is a 7.62x39 VEPR-FM-11 from 2016.
Correction: Original magpul fasteners are 10-24x1. My V2 uses 8-32x1.25.

Does anyone know what the thread pitch is on the chassis-to-barrel screws?

I love how the Magpul Zhukov stocks are more versatile (can get your hand farther out on the barrel and many points of connecting rail sections). I have many different hand guards, from stock Com Bloc wood, to a Krebs Custom "UFM Keymod Rail System", which I all love. Nut when it comes to a hand guard that doesn't let as much heat transfer as other hand guards, the Magpul Zhukov is the best one so far. I wish they had some type of NASA film or tape, or something that could be wrapped around the barrel, at clamp points. I thought about thin exhaust wrap or even fiberglass tape. What about ceramic or something based around ceramic?

Nice work. I've been wondering why there is so little love for the VEPR group of rifles when it comes to aftermarket handguards. I guess perhaps there isn't a large enough number of the rifles for Magpul to bother. So how would one go about getting one of your setups?

Do you know if your fastener will fit the 12 ga JTS shotgun?
No the 12GA barrel is too large a diameter compared to 7.62 among other things.

Sorry to everyone waiting. With new kids at home this project got put on hold. Plus now with the lock downs I have limited time in the shop. The AK files thread linked in the description is still a good place to show your interest. I will follow up there first when I get things rolling again. Hopefully before red October 2020 if that even happens.

Which size Zhukov is this?
It’s the short Zhukov in the video but this mod works for the long Zhukov as well

@@scopeeye4284 Thanks. I just grabbed what might be one of the last 6.5 Grendel Veprs and this might be a good option. Have you ever tried it with a Zhukov - U handguard (shorter one)?
@@taylornutt yes the shorter one works fine the video shows the short one. Both the long and short work with this mod.

Yeah I just need to get a few batches made. Going to get that ball rolling next week. These should def be ready before Red October this year.

Why take off the collectible , rare Russian walnut to put on cheap recycled plastic? I know it's your gun, but every time I see these "conversions" , I just have to wonder WTH!!?
Scott Mcghee Vepr FMs came with US made polymer furniture, not any fancy Russian wood.

Scott Mcghee TBH I’m not sure if any AK pattern rifles are sold with foreign furniture per 922r. There may also be an issue with putting foreign funirture onto a foreign gun but I know some folk don’t care.
@@shaocaholica All of the unconverted Vepr rifles have 100% russian parts. Only when they are modified to accept higher capacity magazines are the 922r compliance parts needed.
