All I know is that kpop stans will ALWAYS try to deny every influence that comes from Western artists, especially black artists. We all saw with our OWN eyes how much kpop milked disco and retro concepts (until it expired) after The Weeknd and Dua Lipa where EVERYWHERE! Olivia Rodrigo also contributed with her "punk-rock" (cmiiw) sound. Now we are in a "Pink" era, and kpop stans are denying Pinkpantheress' influence in kpop (mind y'all, "Boy's A Liar pt2" was charting high on melOn + there are tons "lyrics in korean" videos of her songs on k-youtube). Also, big kpop companies have stated that black artists and their music (genres) are the solid foundations of kpop, YET kpop stans are obviously not ready for the convo. And with the way some of them act anytime a black celebrity interacts with their favs, I am not even surprised. That alone speaks volumes.
right, kpop dabbled in the resurgance of the retro wave and the punk rock wave. and now after newjeans are probably going to dabble in a lot more uk garage and dnb. kpop literally draws inspiration from other genres and other markets. so of couse they'd take inspiration from the western market. kpop's origins if i'm not wrong took inspiration from the western market and black artists as well as j-pop. but kpop fans want to act delusional. saying newjeans took inspiration from pink panthress isn't even an insult so idk why they're upset
Some Kpop stans legitimately think that Kpop is authentic Korean culture it's so concerning 😭
@@getw3llsoon lmfao.
They thought kpop was original 😭😭
kpop stan’s love watered down western music but hate to admit it
so thankful to pink pantheress for inspiring a dnb jungle revolution because i've been wanting to hear it more in kpop and in music so! MOTHER
n ppl already "over it" nah we need MOREE idc (but well executed ofc no halfsies)
@@silque575I dont listen to those type of ppl bcs they think anything is old after 2 weeks lol, dnb jungle has been around for a while now. 💀
Pinkpantheress is the mother actually>>

as soon as i first listened to super shy i immediately thought of pinkpantheress she really is that girl. i also always thought it was funny that new jeans have a y2k aesthetic and pay homage to the era but they were literal babies in the 2000s if not even alive yet

For me it was ETA, havent listened to super shy. The moment i heard it i searched boys a liar, it was way too similar.
@@ashantijordane1862the trumpet part in the instrumental tho, not really. But it has a similar melody within the instrumental, that's for sure!
Someone said that about NEWJEANS songs and concepts and bunnies were denying it 😭😭😭 Pinkppanthress is really the blue print.

okay but she is such a lucky kpop stan like she is a fan and now shes also the blueprint for some of the best songs in kpop currently
i just hope she gets the credit she deserves
it’s so crazy to me that 3 years ago pinkpantheress was just some tiktok small artist promoting music and now she already has daughters like thats crazy
Pinkpantheress really is that girl like.. when she first blew up with "Break it Off" I knew she was gonna be big, but now shes making songs for movies?? Yup.
is she going to be in the barbie soundtrack ?

im a newjeans and pinkpantheress fan and it’s obvious that newjeans took inspiration from pinkpantheress and that’s okay!
Theg gotta acknowledge it though
Nah because i remember watching a korean translation of "boy's a liar" and korean people where commenting things like "this sounds like a new jeans song" 😐 imagine how tired we are.
Omg yesss she’s literally there blueprint also notice how every other Kpop artist is following the uk garage beat as a black British Kpop fan it’s cool hopefully they don’t overuse it like every other trend Kpop gets there hands on
But like motherrrrrrr pink panthreses
It will get overused
@@VMF-rj8qo yeah totally not doubting it it’s just crazy how much they would beat a trend to death i ultimately I think that’s what kinda puts me off Kpop sometimes lack of true creativity sometimes
@@asmamohammed5659 It's a problem since K-Pop's inception tbh. I don't think it will ever fade away sadly.
→ SoBangCha in 1987 had a western 70s sound.
→ Sexy mid 2000s K-Pop (Rain, Ivy, etc) sounded like mid 90s western R&B and Pop
→ SNSD in 2007 was releasing 90s Japanese sounding songs.
→ Psy was releasing electronic music in 2012 even though in the west it was strong 2008-10 and, more egregiously, Playing With Fire is a 2016 song that borrows from that same, 8 year old at that point, sound.
→ That western saxophone trend 2010-13 that K-Pop somehow kept pushing up to 2016
→ Late 2019 80s western trend that the West did up to 2021 while K-Pop somehow pushed up to early 2023
If you accompany whatever artist, genre and/or industry they are getting their inspiration from it's a pretty baffling experience.
@@VMF-rj8qo exactly that you worded it better then me there’s always rnb influence and no originally
love that you called it the pinkprint soo fitting (also barbs🎀) anyway i don’t get why k-stans have to be vile and defensive when it’s factual how much pinkpantheress has conditioned the industry. it often comes off as anti-black behavior frankly (i’m asian fyi) as sooo much kpop incorporates a lot of black creativity, artistry, culture and fashion but they still fail to recognize their importance and contributions. as usual great vid aja we stan!
its very antiblack bc nobody has this energy when people talked about dua lipa's + olivia's influnce on the retro and rock trends
Thank you because mfs act like they knew about house/Jersey music forever and all of a sudden wanna say it’s a genre that wasn’t created by pinkpanthress, knowing damn well Mrs Pink put YALL ONTO that genre. New jeans does have a good unique sound but ONLY to the kpop industry and then non black kpop fans.
THIS EDITING????? THE PRODUCTION FOR THIS VIDEO WAS ON POINTTTTTTT ALSO WE LOVE THIS CONSISTENT ERA 🗣 🗣
when i first saw newjeans being compared to pinkpantheress my first thought was ‘i hope they collab someday‘ but of course kpop stans see comparisons as plagiarism accusations 💀
SOO REAL
pinkpanthress back must hurt by how hard shes carrying the kpop industry
bunnies vitriol to the pinkpantheress comparisons is insane bc you should be very thankful we can even compare them to her...
kpop stans gonna argue about anything because do we remember when new jeans stans were beefing with flo fans just because their sounds were influenced by 90s/00s r&b 😭 what was even going on?
When were they fighting 😭
@@Etherealzyo last year bc flo just released their ep and new jeans was just debuting 😭 and for some reason people that were more casual listeners of both were trying to compare them but their music is not similar at all
@@moarika7378 it’s sad that people will literally dig to find something to fight about
that's such a random comparison lol
Sorry but talent wise Flo with drag new jeans by their baggy 👖 jeans. But they’re both cute.
I definitely think that Pinkpantheress is the blueprint rn but a lot of people aren’t ready for that conversation
pinkpantheress is rising i love that for her
Idk if this is necessarily relevant to the video, but the way kpop stans will deny black people's influence on the industry always makes me mad like... It's so obvious, especially with the XG girlies committing cultural crimes every two seconds, and people will be like "oh! It's cultural appreciation" or even going as far as to say that the behavior doesn't even matter like wtf. And the way they jumped on PinkPantheress too... Being a black kpop fan is a full time job.😭Also, this a really well made video, I actually wanted to get into more garage and dnb type of music, and this really helps so thank you :)
Sis true xg be sampling forever loved black classics and rapping/singing over them
@@nuellawayne2308what songs did they sample? I need the list of crimes 😂
The fact that some big kpop companies managing their favourite groups have mentioned this and they still won't accept it 💀
Honestly PinkPantheress is the reason why I like K-Pop especially NewJeans... I liked PinkPantheress back in 2021, I think? She 4+4 music up and shaped my music taste.
real
Idk why people act like saying this is a bad thing. It's music, it's gonna be inspired by someone bc it's old as hell
i was sayiiing, pinkpantheress is today's tinashe!!!
Before I was a fan of newjeans, I'm a fan of pinkpantheress first! When I first heard of New Jeans and SuperShy it's obvious they took strong inspiration from pink(u can argue that they got inspired from UK garage, but it's obvious pink popularized it into something that could be easily digestible/known for KPOP, especially her y2k concept), I actually thought they have pink work on those songs! In the future I'd like for new jeans to have a collab with pink since I guess it feels more legit and pays homage to pink/ give her credit/ shut up the people who says it's a new genre invented by new jeans. Pink is also a KPOP fan anyway, and if she could connect with NCT dream, I'm not doubting that NJ can also connect with pink
14:18 This is probably the part that has me the most nostalgic for this sound cause my older cousin showing me games like Jet Set Radio and Ridge Racer had me on this shit from an early age lol
yesss jet set radio
pink being mother, an icon and inspiration at such young age and in a short time…we love it🤍😌
miss thing always putting out entertaining AND most importantly, informative content. WE FREAKING LUV U SM AJANUGU
i think anyone who listens to erika can tell she wrote the lyrics and their rapping also reminded me of her but everything else screams pinkpantheress there's no denying that
Need the collab from Newjeans and Pinkpantheress when mostly their songs I played on Spotify all the time
THANK YOU for pointing this out. I literally heard supershy for the first time and assumed it was a pinkpantheress demo
f(x) is mother as far as NewJeans in concerned.

I seriously think pinkpantheress and coco&clairclair are the blueprint sound of nwjns deadasss..
loving your new videos, both the script and the editing have improved so much over time 💗
I’m not lying yestarday I was thinking when is somebody gonna make a video talking on how kpop is straight copying pinkpantheress sound Newjeans jungkooks etc … I fucking hate when they do it and don’t give credits to pink ….I don’t care people saying she didn’t create the sound.. yesss nobody is saying that but nobody was listening to uk garage until this London little genious in 2020 made it viral and now mainstream!!!
Mothering as usual is expected from miss Pink always leave it to her to show ppl what good & fun music is
Great video, also, as a Tokki, I find that any comparisons is just another chance to get to know new artists (and pay respect to them if they started the trend). I really like NewJeans but I'm aware since the beginning that they are not really the first to do something like that, and I want to know all the people they draw inspiration from. So thanks for a wonderfully edited video and for touching this subject :)
DnB is my ish. I’m a rave bitch and use all my play money to go to shows and raves. At this point I’m done comparing and thanking other artists and just gonna keep peoples names out my mouth. I understand and know of many music genres and their histories, and whenever I talk about music now I just pay respect over the different genres in general and not by specific artists. Ain’t nobody trying to argue with anyone, no time to waste my breathe. So glad these genres are showing up more for people to fall in love with. I just have to remind people with new music that comes out now it’s all taking inspiration, they aren’t trying to categorize themselves in those genres in most cases. Especially in k-pop where k-pop is literally a fusion of a plethora of genres, and that’s okay 🤷🏽♀️ music is art and up to artists creativity. Can we all just vibe and appreciate when good music comes out ♥️ thanks for all the background and history in this video!
The video quality lately has reached dangerously slayful levels
Somewhat pinkpantheress has influenced NewJeans, but in a whole music production sense, they're bit more into japanese music scene on SoundCloud. They combine and fuse different genre with minimal sound, but not too loud or bright like pinkpantheress. Combine UK Garage and Jersey Club? You've got New Jeans. Combine Jersey Club, RnB, and Baile? You've got ETA.
ig it’s fine if ADOR takes inspiration from pantheress, but the NJ/Powerpuff collab makes me feel icky since PP had been using Buttercup as her icon for years. like she doesn’t own PPG but damn they’re so blatant with their copying 😂
It be like that if you have money and no soul or sympathy for people and want even more money!
the editing ATE
as someone who grew up on garage, drum and bass, jungle this is my two words colliding lol
The editing slayed + research well done. U know your roots and i am just smiling throughout the video
2023 is going to be the Drum and Bass trend, and I am here for it.
Some Kpop producer got a view of Pantheress and say, I'm gonna steal this shit, that's New Jeans, even the Powerpuff Girls vibe
I want Afro beats to dominate so I can see what K-pop becomes than. They’ll probably be wearing Afro puffs and filming their music videos in the depths of the Congo 😂😂😂 it can’t be this hard to have a smidge of originality. Every day it’s a scandal of plagiarism and copy cat syndrome in K-pop😂
😂😂 Afrobeats will and I literally can't wait, and I know they're going to copy everything well some already do.
It already has lol listen to BOLO by PENOMECO, YDG

Glad to see a video discussing these relationships and references. Loved the way you presented these interesting topics. Enjoying PinkPantheress and Newjeans and feeling blessed to witness more!
I've been waiting for this vid for ages 😩😩 finally
I'm really just blown away by how thoughtful, focused and eloquent this video is, especially for a subject with such a wide breadth of history - I really learned so much about UK Garage and DnB! Thanks for this awesome video.
This was such a good video. Thank you explaining the different genres and the importance of the dance music genres
i love this video cuz frst of all so true, secondly the aesthetics and the editing and lastly I found more fun music to stream so thank you lol
The biggest shift in K-Pop seemed to be 2nd to early 3rd gen before it truly blew up internationally. That's when K-Pop was still niche enough that they weren't afraid to dabble with genres and experiment with them like you weren't hearing on most Mainstream Pop 40 hits. Obviously, plenty of it still had influence from what was popular or had been done before in the West, but if you compare f(x)'s RPPP and Red Light against 4 Walls, it's easy to see the shift between what you wouldn't really hear elsewhere vs. what you could find anywhere. Once dubstep and tropical pop took off in K-Pop, it became much more indebted to current Western trends. (Compare RV's Dumb Dumb or ICC to Bad Boy and their later music). K-Pop just adds a more intense visual aspect to it, and sometimes it seems people fail to consider the song as something standalone and not just part of a performance piece you can't help but visualize along with it. It doesn't help that a lot of K-Pop fans don't really listen to anything but K-Pop, so they can be completely unaware of what is "new" and what is a rehash or blueprint from another artist they just haven't checked out yet or don't want to admit their shiny new toy isn't quite as shiny or new as they think.
I will always give you your 10s for the editing!!! Whoaaa
you and these receipts we freakin LOVE you
the craziest part is how kpop fans try to deny is the hardest possible like they like in denial or smt😭
You're becoming my favorite narrator for this one, thankyou for the knowledge.
for kpop fans to act like these company CEOs didn't specifically model kpop groups and kpop as a genre after black pop artist groups (especially girl groups like TLC and Destiny's Child) is absolutely wild to me. these ceos have been copying off of black artists' homework since day one and whenever you point this out everyone gets so defensive ??
we miss you f(x) and we thank you pinkpantheress!

OK BUT WHY IS THIS EDITING SO GOOD??
This is what I literally have been saying for weeks and now someone is making a video about it. Great minds think alike.
im such a big fan of pinkpantheress and i like newjeans so this was such a nice video to see!
Omg, yes!!! Everytime i hear a fast drum or guitar instrumental i think of pinkpantheress
video of the year aja
Yesss that's what I've been thinking about lately
A lottttt of kpop songs are using this style and Im loving it so much
yeah thats what Ive noticed, everything feels like pinkpantheress like even Jungkook new UK garage single, deffo just like disco Dua Lipa and The Weeknd inspired others, and Kpop went through a disco trend, Pinkpatheress has inspired others and Hybe and Kpop in general we all know they copy anything the west does, so i wasnt surprised with this at all, they want to cater to the west aswell as being the first to copy the west makes them look unique in Korea, I mean Jennie takes most of her fashion style inspo from Bella Hadid outfits, Dua lipa hair etc (not saying theres anything wrong with this as long as you dont act like the originator), but because Korea doesnt have that style, she looks unique, same with Newjeans and Jungkook

dude, I love new jeans but I really can’t engage with their whole concept too deeply 😭. The layers of appropriation is just too obvious and yet people get mad when it’s pointed it out haha. I don’t blame them since they probably don’t have much control over what they make and produce but bruh. Great video though, didn’t realize the animation and drum and bass connection :O how cool!

K-pop is copy catty genre that’s the truth. Which is sad because Korea has its own original sounds that aren’t popularised and explored. I think that will be the down fall of K-pop people don’t won’t lesser version of the original 😐also African Americans, black people in general love you guys because you’re the Gods of modern music literally 😂 when I learn about the history of something it leads back to a black icon ❤❤❤ we would be listening to the queens speech in the clubs if you didn’t come in to save the day. My problem is with people acting like this is a bad thing or that they’re stealing/plagiarising from her, like can’t we just listen to good music in peace, the genre is the same but it doesn’t mean the mixing and vocals are
In the music history, black artists have less recognition although they are the creators of popular genres.
Bunnies love to shit on everyone for copying new jeans but can’t even credit the woman who is literally the blueprint for NJs whole concept lmaooo

i think about this video every once in a while. i've been falling in love with pinkpantheress for the past year and i've been digging up her history in music and learned her imagery used to be the powerpuff girls. and it made remember nj's recent cb using the same imagery on top of their similar concept and sound (which is already fine, music is all about sampling and creating sounds for people to enjoy but the puff concept thing is strange idk). i do wish mhj gave credit where its due though bc i feel like this is too far.
