Everyone is talking about Wright being 1st overall pick and whatnot, but you are all forgetting this beast played as a 17 year old with grown men and managed to play even, maybe even better hockey and he also brought two medals already to his homeland. All Wright did was to play in the OHL against age 16-21. Sure Wright is a good player, but you cannot really compare the two because there is hardly any competition.
@@rower1698 wright had 9 goals 5 assists for total of 14 pts in only 5 games in the u18 last year. Most with team canada. They just basically gave it to the player who had the most points which is michkov who had 16 pts in 7 games. Probably a top 2 pick next year. So wright had the highest ppg and this was last year where he missed 18 months of hockey due to covid. This year, slafkovsky had 11 pts in 6 games in the u18s. Stats isnt everything when your drafting but I just see a more impactful player in the long run with someone like wright at center.
@@rower1698 you let international tournament dictates your opinion on player when it's played on bigger ice , in liiga he wasn't producing at all , hell brad lambert had a deceiving season and he had a better production than slafkovsky in liiga
@@rayroy5355 maybe you should check why he wasn't as productive in Liiga, they play more defensive style as most Finnish clubs do. The play style of Slovak national team is completely different and that allowed him to show his true colours, it allowed him to show what he is capable of if he is given the opportunity.

I think most devils fan want/need to believe that Slaf is the better player because it fits our needs much better than the rest of the options. I know that most think always choose BPA, but I am not so sure in this draft. This draft is much more even, and there isnt like generational player among the prospects. Lets say Montreal does pick Slaf, what do we do next? Pick Wright? Trade? Logan? Perhaps Nemec/Jiricek? Kinda winning 2nd overall was a curse. If we had picked 5 or 6, that would have probably been easier to just pick one of the D. I would have preferred winning the lottery next year. Are we even eligible to win a lottery next year with the new rules?
I believe the Devils are as I think the rule is you can’t win the lottery twice in 5 years, this does not include the previous years as it’s a new rule so it starts after this draft. Which means the Devils can only win the lottery one more time in the next 5 years. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.
