We usually don't make classic reaction videos. This channel is more about tipping each other off and broadening each other's when it comes to listening to music. We are happy to listen to things that have not received the recognition that we think they deserve and therefore want to spread good music to everyone who watches this channel. We make no money from our videos as the advertising revenue goes to those who own the copyright for what we listened to, we never appeal such a decision by CZcams.

Rammstein have reached a stage in their career where they simply can do whatever they like to do. I think they have matured (also Till's voice) and perfected their sound to a peak point. They all walk towards the age of 60 by now - so thinking about "Zeit" is appropriate ;-)

    Great Song, great Video!
Norne (goddess of fate in Norse mythology)
In Norse mythology, the Norns are female beings who determine fate.
Three women of destiny are mentioned by name:
They are called Urd (fate), Verdandi (that which becomes) and Skuld (guilt; that which is to be).

Rammstein has so much to offer in terms of lyricism/poetry. Songs like Dalai Lama, Stein um Stein, Keine Lust, Ohne Dich, Los, Ich Will and many others are very well written. I kinda get it why you'd think they're not very serious in what they're doing but they are. It just so happened that some of the more fun songs got more popular.

You should listen to the song "Mutter" which was released 20 years ago. It has similar vibe and shows that they have been always more "grown up" than majority of other artists. The problem is that people don't understand their art in the right way. Anyway, I am glad you liked "Zeit". :)

For the longest time I didn't really appreciate Rammstein, because I only looked at it from a musicians perspective and they were mainstream - so, I didn't really get much exposure. And the prophet doesn't really count much in his own country, so, that might have played a part, too.
Nowadays I can see, what amazing art they produce. Performance, visuals, music and poetry. What I still don't really understand is, how non native speakers (native speakers with some educational background) can really get all the cultural references, hints, depth and word play Til Lindemann just injects everywhere.

The 3 black figures are the 3 norns.
Three women of destiny are named: their names are Urd (fate), Verdandi (that which is to come) and Skuld (guilt; that which should be). Their names are considered to be Norse equivalents of common medieval conceptual concepts of the time in the form of personifications of the past (Urd), present (Verdandi) and future (Skuld).
Even if these three names are young, they seem to go back to an old Germanic idea of a nameless trinity of women of destiny.

This is a quote from another user, not from me. But he descipts it very good!
    -
"Boys, I will explain you: The three black dressed women are the three Nornes. In the old german fore-christian mythology they represent the past, the present and the future. The Norne of the past is named Urd (the destiny). The Norne of the present is Verdandi (that what is now and what will be in the next moment). The Norne of the future is Skuld (that what will grow out of the past and the always changing moments). The Nornes spin the rope of life. They decide where the rope begins and where it ends. In Germany we still say „life hangs at a thin rope“ when things are getting dangerous or somebody is really hurt or sick. The Nornes are no gods. They just represent the time of a life. People can‘t influence time and a lot of things that happens. The life of everyone is created by the Nornes what means by the time. And we all sitting in the same boat mightless in the sands of time. This is the credo of this song."
    -
RAMMSTEIN calls this "black creatures" Zeitwächter (Timekeeper).
I think, you can see the sand as sand in a hourglas!

  • @peekaboosue

My interpretation and thought was time goes on like a continuous cycle and those rare occasions when we are truly happy of course we want time to stop. The showing of the sand and hourglass ⌛ time keeps going and them showing the scenes reversing to me meant a desire to go back in time either to the moment of birth and start our lives over or to before we're even born saying no i don't even want to be born i want to go back before i was even conscious of my own existence and mortality. Them being blindfolded to me was no one knows whats going to happen in the future we don't know what kind of lives these babies are going to have.

Great interpretation and reaction! You probably are not people to go too much based on popularity, but as you might have noticed, Rammstein reaction videos do tend to gather views and comments. :) For some reason I have found my self as well trapped watching reaction videos for their newer songs on different channels, for some reason, doesn't happen with many artists for me personally. For a long time the only reaction videos I watched were for Rammstein's "Deutschland", "Zeit" and "Angst". I do recommend the other two as well. I think these videos and their reaction videos are popular for a reason. People love to share in the emotion and interpretation of those.
There are shocking things in their lyrics and videos indeed, but not in all of them, and if there, then often (not always) the shock factor is warranted from my perspective. You might have heard a quote often attributed to Cesar A. Cruz, "Art Should Comfort the Disturbed and Disturb the Comfortable". I do not know anything about the supposed author of the quote, but this quote often connects with me. This lately connects with me because of Rammstein, at least when the thought provocation appears to be there for good reason. "Deutschland" definitely has moments of that. Yeah, one could argue that someone could reflect on their relationship with their country or on the relationship of any citizen to their country without the taboo subjects or only in sterile way, but I do think that there is real danger in this kind of thinking. Yeah it is a personal perspective, but I do believe shocking to not scare away, but to provoke thought might be one of the greatest aims in art. It takes willingness to deal with the undercurrents of society and some personal bravery to present something to the society that they might dislike, and for which their initial reaction might be the want to crucify the messenger.
Anyway, it became a long comment, I do recommend the two mentioned songs, but there are obviously others, in "Ausländer" they manage to deal with the subject of colonialism in not a shocking, but mostly humorous way, for example. For Americans it might also be shocking though of course, because of the nudity.

it feels like they know the progression of time will bring pain and bad experiences, and they're begging to stop or freeze time in a perfect moment instead of being exposed to this suffering.

    Some things should
    Some things shan't(should not)
We see, yet we are blind
    We cast shadows without light
After us, there will be a 'before'
Out of youth, necessity is born already
We keep dying until we live
    (We) die living into(the)death
    We drift towards the end
    No rest, just striving forward
Endlessness is waving at the shore
Captured in the river of time
    Time
    Please stand still, stand still
    Time
This shall go on forever and always
Warm body will be cold soon
    One cannot conjure the future
    Allows for no stay
    Creating and destroying immediately
I lie here in your arms
Oh, could it just be like this forever
But the time knows of no mercy
    Already, the moment is gone
    Time
It is so beautiful, so beautiful
    Everyone knows
    The perfect Moment
    When our time has come
Then it is time to go
Stopping when things are at thier best
    The clocks stand still
    The moment is so perfect
    But the time keeps running(out)
    Moment, would you Please remain
    I'm not ready yet
