    This was by far most original and "worth watching" tone breakdown of you. ı always wanted a "pre" "post" switch for neural eq.I was already using another instance of the plugins for OD but not for EQ. Thank you for the tip !.

    What about something from Opeth? Maybe Ghost Reveries record would be nice.

    • @TheRealStevenWard
      @TheRealStevenWard Před 4 lety +11

      Yes! That's pretty high on the list of priorities! That one will take a little bit longer though because I'd want to either do a longer episode covering more styles or a two or three part series covering different styles per episode.

    • @adnanyub
      @adnanyub Před 4 lety +5

      I think it would be good to learn about tones we can achieve from these tools for a variety for Opeth tones... ghost reveries is really sick
      The tones from Heritage, Sorceress and In Cauda Venenum would be great too! A differnet flavor of gain but they still sound really heavy.. opeth ❤

      @@MrKiammi With a strat style guitar and similar tones on the amp sims, you could definitely recreate that kind of tone. Dude has some killer vibrato and note choices which really makes the style.

      Steven Ward hey man I have a question!!
      Do I need a DI box for recording my guitar to the audio interface.
      Currently I am using a focusrite Scarlett solo in which I am directly connecting my guitar to it.
      Will a DI box improve my guitar tone by balancing the high impedence signal from my guitar!!
      Thank you

    • @TheRealStevenWard
      @TheRealStevenWard Před 4 lety

      @@SerenadeRhythms24 Probably not. You'd need one if you only had line/mic inputs. Most Scarlett interfaces have a combo input that allow for instrument input levels to account for the high impedance. You can check out the video I made on DI boxes here on the channel as well if you want to get a full breakdown on the subject.

    I think you did an amazing job here, congratulations are in order. The only difference I can hear is he maybe uses just a touch less gain, or it sounds that way due to single coils, combined with even harder picking, but it's just his hands, not much more you could have done. All in all, really awesome video, thank you for this.

    Hey Steve whats a good solution for changing between presets on my Mac quickly? Are there any keyboard commands or ability to assign keys / numbers to different User Presets? Or what about USB or Bluetooth devices? I'm using the Plini right now and pretty keen to go with the Abasi next.

    I always thought that Nick sets up his Lead tone, and turns down from the guitar for everything else. I don't think he uses any pedals live.

  • @joskun
    @joskun Před 4 lety

    That was amazing video because it saves time trying to find pedals also great take at the end 😉 \m/
    Nick Johnston is my new favorite artist after Opeth, Animal as Leaders and Tool (even though I like the vocals on Opeth and Tool I made a playlist of instrumentals)
    Also check out Tygran Hamasyan and Aydin Esen (sounds a bit like Allan Holdsworth meets Mario kart tracks hehe)
    Those guys are all great 👍 and what I love about Nick is just like Old Opeth, how he creates wall of sounds with emotionally beautifully charged melodies that creates a world. It's very similar to Opeth to me because the sound has that melancholic itch underneath and with his taste to it. The other guys can get a bit busy emotionally for me and Nick makes it emotional, complex and easy to relax into his world and that's why I love his music.
    Also check out this guy Enersto Schnack,

    czcams.com/play/PLZNvwWzqABRfhT_0CxK67Wy5b7aQU20H8.html
    his original work is amazing if you're into Opeth and the folk side of music (some tracks are even equal if not better than some Opeth stuff and he also does covers too :)
    Any other guys/bands like Nick Johnston???
