What I love about DJ Premier is that even as a 50+ years old icon, he still shows up to every gig with a look on his face of a 17 year old dreaming teenager playing his first show

this gave me goosebumps as its 100% true! saw him when i was a teenager at a small gig in fucking germany in a fucking small town and he was going nuts and all the time screaming: "you want more?!"... believe it or not i was even smoking a blunt with him on the scene as it was a small crowd, not even bodyguards etc. he is super chill and truly a living legend.
After 3 times listening to it it's even better , which is usually the sign of a great album, except that here it's pure improvisation !

I think in a way an actual produced album can never have the same musical quality of an improvised set like this because this is all just vibing in the moment.
You can never have that energy building up when producing an album, and with guys like these, that results in spontaneous moments of pure musical genius.

Zappa was a genius composer and actual real instrument prodigy. His pieces were full of incredible musicianship and mastery... It is a WHOLE different animal than canned and digital music.
@@cassadymillus498 Maybe, in overall sound and the process put in to learn, but it really doesn't matter with creativity. You could certainly use "canned" music, as you call it, to totally fool the ear into thinking you are listening to an instrument, every modulation, every slight variation. Not to mention, Marc comes up with this on the spot and is the keyboard not considered an instrument? Does every band mix their live sound through digital means? Of course they do. Zappa was a genius and I really never got into his music, I'd far rather listen to Marc.

Bruh, right??? I’ve never clicked so fucking fast. I learned to dance by listening to the Gang Starr Full Clip promo tape someone threw in my trunk at my first ever rave and I found it days later. I would put it on my parents’ stereo in the living room, open the front door and dance on my front porch.
I smiled like an idiot for atleast 1/3 of this. I can't think of a single other thing that can do that to a human. It's incredible.

I think it’s something to do with his improv skills. It just takes a little taste for him to get inspired and take off, and he plays so well off of other musicians when they give him that. It’s so inspiring to watch!

I love re-watching this jam session. Perhaps the part that I enjoy the most is when Premier stepped out, Brady and Marc jammed about how they missed him. That may be one of the reasons they meshed so well. They worked together.
So many incredible grooves and moments just “off the top”. So impressed with DJ and Brady, but Marc is quite a talent
Sometimes you see some really epic shit happening that you wish you were talented enough to be a part of. This is one of those times.

Reggie is my all time favorite, and that stream is actually a dream come true for myself, as well as many other’s if I do say so. I’d love to see a Premier, Watts, Rebillet & Watt session. Harry Mack was a very enjoyable session, just wish my man had a better mic for him so the sound quality was clearer; a Classic Sure SM58 would do the trick at a reasonable price. Wayne Brady stream was very creative and a really great exercise for MR. Turtle Power!
