I was too young to watch the original too, but I bought the DVD boxset and was hooked. My advice to you is: please watch the original series. You won't regret it!

I'm British and I couldn't even understand what plan b mumbled half of the time. And I think of this movie as an insult to both the original Regan & Carter, they were rough around the edges maybe their jobs made them that way but underneath the characters were decent, respectable and very likeable. How dare they use their names for criminals that call themselves cops!!!!
I was happy in the part of the movie when the new Jack gets stripped of his status and goes to prison cus he deserved it for what he'd done.

I mean Regan wasn't ORIGINALLY a Cockney...
Saw it today, such an awesome film! I'd never seen the original television series (since I'm far too young to of been alive back then) so my expectations were non-existent. A star-studded cast with great action sequences; by far Damien Lewis was again at his best but Ben Drew made the movie as he was superb. He's far too under-rated in the arts, without him the movie would've been more dissapointing somewhat.

Looks good, but British accents drive me up the wall. Hard to make out what the 'bloody chaps' are saying half of the time lol. No doubt it works both ways.

For the record, Will Smith, Mark Wahlberg, Idris Elba and Jamie Foxx don't count. The former two have quit long ago and the latter two only rap as a hobby or a side job. All four are excellent actors, as opposed to say, Ludacris who is dreadful. Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to The Sweeney, whenever it comes out here.
ive been 2 see it 2day and it was an awsome film :)
The movie doens't come out in here the USA for a while. The trailer is cool, and I like a lot of the actors in it. Ray Winstone (Mr. French from the Departed), Hayley Atwell (the hot girl from Captain America), and Damian Lewis are all excellent. But PLAN B? Seriously, why did they ruin the cast with a RAPPER?

Why do they always turn classic TV-shows (e.g. Miami Vice) into one of those interchangeable movies (you know the sort, fast paced, black and blue colours, high tech sterile look, stupid plot, etc.)?
The movie looks absolutely horrible and the casting is terrible too! I agree with you Philip Glenister would have been the obvious choice for Regan (I'm sure John Simm would have been a good Carter too ;-) - Life On Mars is much closer to original Sweeney and its flair than this unnecessary movie!

Damien Lewis was a great Haskins, Tom Hardy would not be up to the job, it ain't his role, remember how shit he was in Bronson? Ray Winstone played a good Regan, but Ben Drew stole the show by playing an awesome Carter, made the role his own but still keeping the original Waterman wit., I cS

And that didn't turn out too well, did it? Max Payne was terrible, and Ludacris is just as awful of an actor as he is a rapper. At least Plan B has some talent.
