- I recently podcasted Brian Chan on Anchored www.themeateater.com/listen/a...
The next morning we went fishing on a nearby lake to put some "new" techniques to the test. Read my article about how to fish chironomids here www.themeateater.com/fish/fly...
Thank you Topo Films for the new footage and VP Media House for the archives. - Jak na to + styl
What a wonderful guy! I was fortunate to meet and fish with Brian about 25 years ago. I don't think he's aged a bit! Thanks and Blessings!
Humble, gracious, always learning, always willing to share, and a man who still fishes with the enthusiasm of a child. These are a few of the characteristics that anyone who has fished with Brian has had the chance to experience. Thanks for capturing and sharing that!
Hey guys , I am a proud owner of an islander steelheader.
Really wish you would make a slimmer 6inch reel for modern steelheading needs .
It was a great treat for me to be guided by Brian Chan on Peter Hope lake years ago. He is everything April said and funny as can be. I learned many things from him that day and have retained 3. The Booby was the most amazing. I'd never heard of the thing and during a stretch when nothing was happening he tied one on and caught a trout in short order. He also taught me how to throat pump a trout and tie his BMW leech.
Ms. Vokey. Hello from a fan, but one who doesn't believe in sticking my face in places...
But, after seeing this video, I had to say hello and thank you for your work, over the years.
I must say that I have only been fly fishing since 2008.
I received a back injury that left me unable to walk up and down stairs or off a curb without excruciating, debilitating pain. It was thought that I might never recover full use of my legs...
At that point in time, I was no longer employable, as a mechanic/welder/driver/, which were all I knew. So, I decided to build computers, which in turn led me too seeing The series Sport Fishing On The Fly, hosted by Don Freschi, which also had Brian Chan on it.
I was absolutely enthralled with that original series....Don's enthusiasm, with Brian's science, had me HOOKED... I had to recover...at any cost... Fly fishing was my goal.
I credit Don and Brian with my ability to walk again...seriously... I know that they were responsible for my drive to get out there, on the water...
I have been able to tell Don how I feel about their role in my recovery as well as my love for fly fishing, as we live in the same area and I see him now and then.
However, I have never personally met Brian, nor spoken with him, so I have never been able to let him know what he helped me do, and the massive influence he was in my recovery...
They got me back into the woods and wilderness, where I belong...
My first year of studying fly fishing brought me to our local book store, Crockett's Books, where my buddy Brad had, and has, an amazing collection of books and magazines....which led to my discovering your abilities and talents. It has given me great pleasure, over the years to see your stories and photos in magazines, which were spectacular...my introduction to fly fishing magazines were ones that you were in.... I learned about Spey fishing through your adventures, which is something I would love to try.....
So, I guess the long and short of it is,
Thank you...
I credit yourself, Brian and Don with my mobility, and, my enthusiasm for fly fishing...
Which gave me my legs back....
If you could please pass my thanks along to Brian, when you next chat with him, I would be in your debt, further...
Never stop doing what you are doing, because somewhere out there could be another me, waiting for the seeds of adventure to take them to places only seen in videos or magazines..
Hi, not sure if April saw this or if it made it to Brian another route. I'll pass it along to Brian for you and share any reply.
Two legends here... April videos are amazing and i learn a lot... Thanks sooo much!😘🎣🙏😇💕🎣
It’s people like Brian that make this so much fun . Thanks
Love it, great video April, I appreciate the way you all filmed it and respected Mr Chan
Because of not only Brians vids on BC stillwaters but especially yours i finally went up there from NW Montana. Going back this spring. Great podcast. Ty
Your intro music is great! Love seeing parts of your podcast come to life. I listen often while traveling or cutting grass or just what ever. I can’t get enough🤙🏽
Brian Chan is the shit! Cool, composed and obviously well educated, he is a great role model for aspiring fly fisherman.
Two great anglers. This made me so pumped for spring fishing.
That was great to watch after listening to the podcast - I learned a lot from both.
Sweet video... I grew up admiring Brian Chan. Amazing person.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing his bio, I've been wondering for awhile now :) amazing work he's done.
Loved this video April, awesome. Good stuff
nice to see Matt Moisley's mug in the intro...
I sure enjoy your vlogs and podcasts. Thank you.
Brian's the man for sure!
Класс! Эйприл, благодарю за интересный ролик!

Fantastic video and podcast!
Brian is awesome. Every chance I get to watch him I do so. You too April.
Beautiful spot
Hello April, excellent channel and very didactic, I send a greeting from Argentina!
Awesome content. Cheezies are the best
Nice lake fished there many times over the years.
Excellent vidio !!!!
Came here from your Meat eater Das Boat episode. Good stuff!
April's a straight beast w/ that fly rod in her hands
Wow! Geat vid. Thanks!!!
Thanks for posting!
Listen to all of your (well almost all :) ) podcasts.
Vlogs are a nice add to the podcasts.
I do hope you also make vlogs that are not linked to a podcast too!
Nice April!!!! 😉
Fabulous !!! Thanks
This is really great. In the UK, for me at least, the booby is a go to on a windy day on a short leader with a buzzer dropper
I would love to spend a day fishing with Brian. Were I 40 years younger, I would love to spend some time fishing with April - being the gentleman I was raised to be, of course. BTW: In case you aren't aware of the fact, this young lady ties some gorgeous steelhead flies.
Cheezies!! 😁
I always say what would mick do
Nearly barren lakes??? Was the land barren too? Just like the Native people?

Wow, you would empty this place using British "buzzer" patterns
Hi Ms.April! So, could you do a video on how to tie that "boobie" fly? Great times you are living meeting all the great people you do. Thank you for sharing your moments with us. We (I) really appreciate it! Thanks again dear. Take care.
Forest Lake in B.C.C.
Try again
Had me at “boobies”. But what a cool video.
