      @@joshjamescars Thanks! I went with a Corolla LE. I don’t like the low-profile tires on the SE/XSE which result in a harder driving experience and are totally impractical for the terrible road surfaces in the New York area where I live. The tires can possibly for swapped but I didn’t want to get into that situation. The deal-maker for me was renting a Corolla for a few hours, and I came away liking it very much-There was nothing to dislike, actually.

    This 33:54! To me, my 2023 GX 460 exudes 'luxury', reliability, longevity, and that old-school "relentless pursuit of perfection". Sadly, I think that the 2024 LC with its NA V8 is the only remaining Lexus model that harkens back to this era or philosophy ...

    Nice job on the questions. Regarding your comment on the possible lack of power in the crow signia, you failed to identify the horsepower difference between it and the Venza it replaces. The Venza is 219hp, the signia is 243hp. That 24hp boast will easily make up for the slightly larger vehicle weight of the signia. Ive found the Venza to be much more powerful & quicker than I anticipated, the signia will undoubtably be comparable in relative power as well.

    • @joshjamescars
      @joshjamescars  Před měsícem

      I hope you’re right, but as mentioned in the video, the Crown Signia shares the same powertrain with the RX350h (and is the same size and weight as an RX350h, versus your Venza which is a COMPACT much more similar to an NX) and the RX350h is dog slow.

    First, congratulations on your aniversary! I was a bit doubtful that I could sit through the close one hour Q&A sessio. But as soon as I started listening I couldn't stop it watching...As discussed in your session the one thing I like most in your videos is that you actually operated the vehicles you talk about iand you have an OPINION! The big majority of car videos is nothing more than the endless regurgitation of car specs with usually minimum opinion other than the obvious. Who would say a good word about a CD player or the old track pad? That would be against the mainfield grain, so nobody says anything. You did! Watching car videos I want to hear opinions to challenge me and spur me to think differently about my preformed opinions. Thanks for fulfilling that great role.

    • @joshjamescars
      @joshjamescars  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Hello! I think it depends on how much you drive and what brings you peace of mind. I change the oil in my GX every 5,000 miles but only because it sits in the garage 95% of the time. It’s 6 months old and only has 2,200 miles on it. So I feel better keeping fresh oil in it. But if you drive your car on a daily basis and the engine isn’t just sitting like mine is, you’re probably fine doing every 10K. I let the Prime go 10K between oil changes too. But if you’ll feel better about doing it every 5K/6 months, do that! :)

      @apopisso6302 It’s hard for me to answer that because I’m not entirely sure how your models are spec’d in terms of features. I found the CR-V that we get in our market to ride way more nicely than the NX But some people feel the CR-V is underpowered, so I’d test drive both. • @joshjamescars
      @joshjamescars  Před 5 měsíci

      Great choice on the Prius and yes I highly recommend figuring out your own spare. Do be careful about how you store it. Since you have the AWD version there’s a high voltage cable that cuts right through the sub-floor of the vehicle (under the load floor) to the rear drive motor underneath and so you’ll need to keep it just sitting in the trunk area and you don’t want to have anything sitting on or near that. You’ll want to tie that down somehow so it doesn’t come lose and inadvertently crash through the glass hatch. I had that almost happen with mine.

      Oh I see what you mean by spare tire. something to keep in mind about the new Prius is that the new Prius is the only car in the country that uses the really obscure 195/60R19 size. As there are so few of them on the road, tire shops don’t ever stock tires in that size as it doesn’t make sense for them to do so. That means if you were to get a flat, a shop would need to order it, wait 3-7 days for the tire to arrive, and then when it comes in they can replace yours. What I thought you were meaning by spare was a full size spare which I highly recommend having since donut spares are typically only good for 50 miles total travel and 50mph. Good to have one in addition to your spare since it could easily be a week or more until a full size replacement tire can be fitted to your car.

  • @ronswanson8563
    @ronswanson8563 Před 4 měsíci

    They're also increasing the price indirectly - a i4 has always been much cheaper than a V6, which is cheaper than their V8s. Metals getting thinner might save fuel, but also get door dings really easy. Someone pull back the various parts of a Camry from about 12 years ago and today's has almost no sound proofing and the cushioning in the seat bottom and rear bench is less... they keep cutting cost, which cuts the quality and comfort of Toyota/Lexus, but keep charging more - that is getting annoying. If GM or someone ever gets their... together, I think they could easily give Toyota a run for their money. For example, the Tahoe etc... very popular vehicle, but the afm technology is a big fail which they refuse to fix lest they indirectly admit that it is problematic and their pending lawsuits end up making them payout out billions. However, even their 3800 series, they could have fixed its few major problems and started putting it in all their vehicles to compete with Toyota - it's a shame with the incompetence at GM. Anyways, hopefully Toyota will find people don't like some of the current direction and they'll take corrective action.

    • @joshjamescars
      @joshjamescars  Před 4 měsíci

      While I agree with you, they likely won’t take corrective action on the things you’re talking about and so you may want to look elsewhere now rather than wait. Toyota is going all-in on hybrid and turbo-hybrid 4s to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy and unfortunately the thinner and lighter materials are how they keep those numbers up. You might want to check out the Nissan Armada/Infiniti QX80 before it gets redesigned as I seem to recall them being VERY comfortable and being a Nissan Patrol, incredibly durable and reliable. Rumor has it they will also be redesigned with a turbo-6 and likely a lot of shared technology with Renault (not a good thing).

    1- The lack of supplies is totally bogus for me , how just in 1 year the auto industries don't have supplies for their cars? Its like you mention about the why they increasing the prices, they took huge loans and now they out here looking like chickens with no heads to pay to the investors
    2 -Toyota is acting like Mercedes and BMW, they are charging big boys money for what they are offering lately in their vehicles... Wonder if is just here in US Toyota or is worldwide the lack of luxury in their products .
    3- Abt EV products...no thank you. I presume that you saw on the news the blizzard in Midwest and EV cars were totally garbage. Check what Toyota CEO said abt the EV products, I don't know if they really are going to invest that amount of money on EV cars, For exemple ,:African countries are not prepared for EVs or even Asian countries even here in US.

    • @joshjamescars
      @joshjamescars  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Hello! To your first question, most automakers (Toyota being one of them) use the “Just in time” production method. This means that parts aren’t made in surplus, they’re made right alongside the cars. This reduces the cost for overhead to store vast supplies of extra parts, plus eliminates unnecessary aging of parts while they wait to be assembled (imagine various components of your brand new car actually being 2-3 years old). So the problem with COVID was production at some facilities shut down, and because parts always arrived “just in time” of a sudden those parts were then MIA. Same with the chip shortages. Google just in time manufacturing and you’ll understand why that really messed up production and supply chain. And then to catch up they had to make twice as many at twice the speed, likely at twice or more the cost.
      I completely agree with your latter points however! And to your comparison with Mercedes and BMW, Lexus is now going all in on expensive, a la carte options so that their base prices are “low” but once you add a package and 3 other options you’ve added $10K to that! Ridiculous!
      And I did see the complete mess of EVs in Chicago. I was surprised by that, though, because the Nordic countries in Europe have huge adoption rates for EVs and they seem to do okay during their frigid winters. Whatever the underlying cause of that, I hope the infrastructure providers figure it out soon. That cold was life threatening for those poor people stuck outside with their dead EVs.

      That makes sense@@joshjamescars , but to be honest...They will not lose money if they overproduce certain car supplies...shoot they can sell to countries in Africa that have huge problems in having access to those car supplies. but hey it is what it is .
