while going through radiation at the hospital for cancer treatment , they always ask what playlist i want to listen to. my go to is always either an elton john playlist or a queen playlist. but i remember on my last radiation appointment i chose elton and i was listening to this song as i finished. i had been feeling so distant because i couldn’t do much cause how sick i was, but this song brought me so much happiness. and in that moment, for some reason i knew that i’d get through it and be alright in the end. and here i am still alive to this day fighting cancer for the 7th time and i will never give up. don’t care if it takes a long long time , i’ll be okay :).

"Rocket Man"....just absorbing it after about 25 years of being away from this kind of music....truly amazing....essentially, timeless!

I am 50, been listening to Elton my whole life. Truly one of the greatest artists if all time. Deserves every ounce recognition he gets.
My dad passed away 2 weeks ago. We loved music so much; we loved listening to it together. Found a notebook in his closet from when he was young, filled with band pictures and music notes and lyrics. This song was one of them. It was lovely knowing he liked the same songs I like as well. I miss him a lot.

The artist just did a TEDx talk in Brighton about his story. Lots of this is based on his life.
I admire the contrast between Elton's "Rocket Man", and Bowie's "Space Oddity" where one longs to be with his family and the other falls in love with space so much that he leaves his wife, earth, and just gives in to be apart of space till the end of his days.
Edit. I just got out of "Rocketman", and man was it incredible. It was indescribable, but in words absolutely beautiful. A big inspiration to me as a musician, and just as a person in general. A big recommendation to anyone interested.
Honestly Space oddity could be a sort of sequel to this song in a way, once Tom/rocket man realizes what is going on he’s realizes how much he loves his family

Rubbish, both Elton and the Beatles will survive the centuries even tho the Beatles were far more successful.
Definitely a candidate for one of the greatest musicians alive...I've been trying to play stuff of his on guitar, and having a hell of a time of it. Not that the chords are that complex, he just flows between chords on the piano as naturally as breathing.
