I bought two used big study tables for $40 and one book shelve(4 shelves) for $12 at used furniture store. I combined both tables together(one upside down on floor and another in standard position on the top). Then I put book shelve partitioned into 10 small boxes. Rest of the Material cost me $37. The cost was $89. It has been almost two years--still strong.
Great, I really like your videos.... I was able to see exactly what materials you used, the corner reinforcements, and make a materials list.... your loft can be any size... perfect.
It is for a tray for food and another for feed. In hindsight we would recommend making the lid of this outside section hinged at the top. We created a side opening where the trays slide in but it is not convenient. Remember this is not essential. You can put a small waterer inside and feed by hand. It was just our first thought.
We created this to permit air to circulate and for droppings to go down into a catch basin. It is not essential but if you put solid material on the front and back, like heavy clear plastic, you have to think about ventilation.
I liked this video - came across it in search for beginner loft. I used to have homers, but not for past 10 years. Am going to build a small loft like yours and get some tipplers, so my 9 year old daughter can experience pigeons. I was thinking of putting some wheels on mine and a wire floor so I can move slightly in yard. Also, I have a Kreg Jig, one of the seen on TV things that lets you make easy joints. I see you braced with (wooden?) triangles. We are in Florida. Great job on video!
Awesome little loft for $100 bucks Jim, thanks for sharing! Would love to hear from you on the All Breed International Pigeon Forum as well! Take care!
The capacity depends on the age of the birds and the type of screening you use on the sides. Six perches at either end would accommodate up to a dozen young birds. With open sides it is much like an aviary so the capacity is different than a loft with less venting. We used 1/2" black bird netting but I think that 50% shade cloth would be better. The bird netting does not keep out all predators, such as mink and raccoons, which 1/2" wire or woven shade cloth can do.
Did you guys use a plan from online, or was this more of a put together on your parts? I'm sort of working with a limited amount of space, so knowing the dimensions would be great, especially if they came with plans. The loft that you built seems easy to build, affordable, and doesn't require a lot.
im totaly gonna make one just like this, except im 12 and i want only about 7-10 pigeons and want to race them. awsome video, you need perchen and nest boxes though :)
Please break it down for me.. I want to build one, but i've never built anything in my life. I just got into breeding pigeons and need a little coop like this one
THIS IS ONLY A LITTLE DEMO OF A PIGEON LOFT SHELL. This would only hold about twelve birds maximum. We have been experimenting with ways to make cheap lofts for kids and only put his on just to show some time lapse of the building process.. The perches could be "V" perches or box perches at either end. The landing board goes on the opposite side of the entry doors. We'll post some more pictures of the finished loft soon.
@vidaminfeeder2 Are you kidding? Maybe out of scrape sure, but there is about $100 in materials in here. Be careful who you claim is ripping people off because we do not sell these and simply put this film here to give people ideas.
well he did only show how the loft is built about the perch and nests it's your choice it either you gonna use it for nests and build another1 for youngsters and put perch on it and viseversa
I built mine for around $60 and it is so much bigger than this one.. no hate this one is really cool :).. Mine is 6 feet long 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide. I used 2x4s and bird screen. originally built it for parrots but got into pigeons. I think I have a video of it on my channel.
i was considering building a loft similar to this due to space and city restrictions. could you explain a bit more about proper cat proofing, cold climate insulating, and proper roofing material? I'll only start with 3 or 4 pairs due to space, but like this style without the need for a full size building with door. I also will not require a city permit, which will save me money!

This video is 9 years old so the title should be the $600 pigeon loft. Lol

Is there any where I can get the plan for this loft

That's a nice loft. Lofts don't need to be expensive.

WOW
I want to start small. Just 2 birds then go from there as I learn! How do I get plan designs?
JoeRawlinsJr did you manage to make the loft?
Had a mate convert a cubard for his first loft. It worked well. Tack on wire, even a wire flap for a door. Ha when i waz a kid
So what if i want to start pigeon breeding, i need a loft? But what if i dont know how to build one, what do i do?
Please break it down for me.. I want to build one, but i've never built anything in my life. I just got into breeding pigeons and need a little coop like this one
Good for him. I'm sure you keep more birds than would go in here. This is for four to eight pigeons.

Do you sell any ? Looking to buy one
Hi, thanks for asking but we do not. The video may work as a guide for someone to build on for you however. Good luck!
hoy what your say
My back hurts just watching you build it, why not put a sheet of plywood on 2 saw horses to start with next time:)
Sorry we already gave it to friend. But it was about $100 in raw materials.

Where can I buy one for 100 to put together?
Email me Please...

100 dollar coop w/500 in labor.
Yeah But I bet you can't put something Like that together? That takes skill and concentration.
It doesn't have shelves for them to rest on or a trap
It doesn't tell how. Big. Or how to build. It
Not realistic, Not cat proof, No good for colder climates, No roofing material. I wouldn't put chickens in there, never mind pigeons!!!!
