No lie. Every time I see this video...hear this song.....I get so emotional. I am not of the Latino community, but the New Yorker in me celebrates the love and unity that was shown. That man's voice moves me.
It's some times hard to choose which songs of his are my favorites because his voice is just beautiful. So much soul and heart poured into it. I just recently saw a clip on facebook of a blind boy moving to this song, in the audience. Marc came off the stage to hug him and sing the song into his ear. The boy started swaying to it. He told him encouraging words and kissed his forehead. That's the Marc Anthony I know and love. I cried. He's such a loving man and a living legend.

My favorite Marc Anthony song is NEED TO KNOW. It swaggers, rocks the hips, with just enough of the blues thrown in to keep it interesting. The video features a woman to let you know who drives his desire.
YOU SANG TO ME is also very good.
But you must bring in Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine as they bring you the infectious, RHYTHM IS GONNA GET YOU and BAD BOY. And the great vocals of Jon Secada as he follow his passion in JUST ANOTHER DAY. He definitely brings his beautiful vocal to one of them best pop performances ever.

I used to think of Marc Anthony as a regular American singer and then the Latin Explosion happened and I guess he went all-in on embracing his roots, primarily singing in Spanish from then on. I first heard of him years before when he starred on Broadway in a musical written by Paul Simon. He's a good actor. He also gets married a lot. My favorite song of his is probably "That's Okay" but he's got a lot of great ones. His cover of "Aguanile" is pretty fierce.

Actually he was the top salsa musician in the world as of the early 90s. He was very successful as a Latin artist and then crossed over to English when Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias crossed over. The English album with "I Need to Know" was his fourth. And yes, he does get married a lot. :D

Marc Anthony was the king of salsa way before he released an English album. He actually did an interview once where he said he had so many loyal fans he would not insult them and his title by doing a crossover album. And.....than he crossed over.

@@antoinettelopes He started his career singing salsa in Spanish. The Latin community loved him so much he gained the title of King of Salsa. He said he would not be a sell out and do a crossover album, he would remain loyal to the fan base that held him up as to not insult them by leaving them behind. It's what he said in an interview years ago before anyone outside the Latin community knew who he was. Than when other Latin artists like Ricky Martian and Enrique Iglesias started hitting the top of the charts here in the U.S. he did a crossover album. And if you didn't know he also did some acting in some big movies before that crossover album.

    • @antoinettelopes

@@micheleromero6538 Yes, I'd seen him in movies before. That's why I thought he was just an American kid like J.Lo. And Ricky Martin I'd known since Menudo and watched on "General Hospital". So when they marketed them under that Latin Explosion thing as if they were new imports I was like 'but I know them.' Enrique was the only new one and he was Julio's kid anyway. I thought he grew up here too.

Two songs sung in German that became hits in the 80’s are 99 Luftballoons by Nena, and Rock Me Amadeus by Falco. The song by Nena also had a version in English, 99 Red Balloons. Both versions were popular in the US. Falco also wrote the song Der Kommissar which English band After the Fire had a hit with after translating it to English. Also the Latin rock band Mana had a song with Santana called Corizon Espinado which I think you would love.

About 20 years ago Latin music became popular in the U.S. and many Latin singers crossed over to recording in English as well as Spanish. You should listen to his top hit in English, "I Need to Know", the arrangement is killer. Obviously each one is distinct BUT they all have hundreds of years behind their cultures. I lived in Spain for 7yrs and fell in love with their Flamenco music. There are many examples on CZcams & here is one I belive is a good representation "Flamenco Baile, guitarra & cante, Ramon Kailani".
Just my opinion but the artistry of this style is mind blowing.

Marc Anthony was born in the Bronx, NY of Puerto Rican parents. He is the ultimate in Salsa. He has been in the music scene for over 2 decades. He began his career in the late '80s singing in Spanish, mostly Salsa. He did his cross-over to english in the late '90s with "I Need to Know". He is a singer-Songwriter, record producer, and actor. He has done duets with Daddy Yankee, Romeo Santos, Pit Bull, Will Smith, Prince Royce, La Quinta estacion (Natalia Jimenez), and Gente de Zona. He is the top Tropical selling artist of all time and has won many Grammy and Latin Grammy awards. He played hector Lavoe ( another Salsa great) in the movie "El cantante" with Jennifer Lopez. He acted on broadway and did movies. Other songs you might like from him: Hasta ayer, Flor Palida, Hasta que te Conoci, Ahora Quien, Te conozco bien, Aguanile, Tu Amor me Hace Bien, and Valio la Pena. There are many others, of course. Another English song you might like is "You sang to Me". Other artist you might like to listen to are Romeo Santos, Daddy Yankee, Ricky Martin, Chayanne, Prince Royce. A good female artist for female Fridays is "La India" or India. you will love her. Fun fact: Marc anthony was married to Miss Universe Dayanara Torres (of Puerto Rico) and has two boys with her.

Any dive down latin music, would have to include Celia Cruz, I believe one could say, she is to Latin Music, what Aretha Franklin is to soul, any latin friend I have ever had talk about her as I would talk about someone like Cher or Barbra Streisand. Marc Anthony has a beautiful masterpiece in English called YOU SANG TO ME. If you want to do a latin "Boy Band" you would have to check out MENUDO, they were huge in most of Latin America from the 70s on. The biggest star by far from that band to emerge was Ricky Martin, who has tons of songs in spanish and English, he sings THE CUP OF LIFE in both english and spanish with lots of horns. Another latin singer that I like is JUANES and he has a beautiful song called FOTOGRAFIA
