I went to school with the son of the previous Director of the Global Crop Diversity Trust (which helps maintain the vault) for a year in High School. He came to talk to us about the Vault and I remember being so enamoured with the idea of so much history being held within there. I became obsessed with the idea of it ever since and I'm so glad to see in the comments that there are so many others like me who heard about it and were just immediately taken by the Vault. Thanks for showing us.

I always wondered why it was a ‘doomsday bunker’ named the Seed Vault. That is amazing. I swear after every video I watch of yours I am even more surprised at how smart Norwegians are. Not to mention the architecture and interior design of almost every establishment is beautiful, new, modern, and so practical & ingenious.

Cecilia, that's the first time I've seen the entrance to SGSV, minus any hype. Thank you. I'm a South African botanist who sourced many seeds for the Millennium Seed Bank (and by extension the SGSV) during the 2000s. Regardless of my reservations regarding "Noah's Ark" projects (we shouldn't f**k up our environment in the first instance), could you inform us as to the maintenance of this facility? Are there dedicated individuals who maintain it as fit for purpose, given rapidly changing environmental conditions? It'd be great to meet them on your channel! Apart from these heady issues, thanks for bridging the northern and southern hemispheres and warm winter hugs from 34.2062° S, 24.8300° E.

Oh wow .. I've been watching your videos since your 3rd one and in all that time, I never once stopped to think that's where the Global Seed Vault is! o.O

Thanks for showing us this, before I started watching your videos all I knew about Svalbard was that the seed bank was there, I didn't realise it was so close to your home! This was a very cool video but I did miss seeing Grim.

It really is so close to everything, I love that it is clearly visible for anyone who travels to longyearbyen! Grim will be back in the next video 😍

This was so interesting and also to read everyone’s comments. I never knew anything about this. I’m new to your channel and enjoying it very much.
