STIHL HLA 85. Join me as I show you the features of this battery telescopic long reach hedge trimmer. We have been using this machine in the gardens here for years and absolutely love it.
Am afraid am going to have to stop watching your videos.... Every time I watch I get the desire to make a new purchase 🤣🤣🤣 Good video pal, keep it up 👌👍
@@chip7646 it still works fine can’t see any tip flex , the only thing is you can tell it’s not as strong as the petrol one so I just take a bit more care using it
@@Sthilboy56 yeah I noticed that. I really like that Stihl made the extension square so it doesn't roll. But the Husqvarna cuts at 4000 cuts per minute over the stihls 3000. Do you know if they are changing that?
Good video. I've started using the HLA85 about a month ago since my KMA130R has broken down again and is with the Stihl dealer for tests... I've been positively surprised by the flexibility of this piece of equipment. Length adjustment is a great feature! A bit on the heavy side compared to the KMA130R with trimmer though...
Two things bout mine not so good, battery can fall out. Other mates had same. Also found shaft can get hard to pull out. Even when not bent. Bit of silicons helped. But something still could look at. But i love it light quiet n cuts well. Prob put mine thro bigger than i should but so far fine. Cheers
I have heard a few people mention the battery falling out. I have never had this - I squirt a bit of spray on the catches as part of my routine, just to keep. Then moving freely. Have you seen the new shaft design on the HLA 86? 😀 Thank you for watching 👍
I think they should have included a 60cm head for the price difference over the 65, doesn’t seem worth it just for the ability to extend, unless I’m missing something?
Great video as always. I need a new long reach hedge trimmer but not sure which on to go for. I dont want 2 trimmers in the back of the van but do I go for the HLA65 or the HLA85
It all depends on how tall the hedges are that you are working on really. but the best all rounder is the HLA 85 as it offers that little extra reach, but it is heavier than the 65. hope this is helpful
I was wondering can you replace hedge trimmer head with chainsaw head (hta ht model) and get 2 tools instead of 1... does it fit on crankshaft... please check it out.
Thank you cookie :D I was really looking forward to this review :) I'm curious if Stihl is going to present an upgrade to this model (faster cutting speeds) and maybe with the engine where the battery is, considering the corded system; I'll wait till this September's Stihl Media Day, where they'll present the new products for the 2021.
Hi mate I have to say it, it doesn’t matter if you like it hard or floppy that tool still looks great in your hands lol. Good review thanks

Brilliant bit of kit, probably my best cordless buy!
Really good video.
Interesting tool, being telescopic could be a good time saver too.
👍👍
jason Gardener 😀 It really is a great bit of kit. Being telescopic saves so much ladder work - Also handy for those wider hedge tops too 👍
Those fantastic dude great job we need an extension for sure....beautiful archway....
🌱🌱👍👍
Jack and Dan 😀 Thank you
Have had one for three years now it’s brilliant ,very rarely use ladders now it makes life so much easier
I saw a review on the Husqvarna pole trimmer that after a year of good use it had tip flex/bounce have you noticed the same with the HLA 85?

@@Sthilboy56 thank you for the info. I'm debating on Stihl or Husqvarna. I see pros and cons with both.
@@chip7646 think there is a new upgraded one now the HLA86

Great informative video, would you know what length it is when closed for storage I can't seem to find this info anywhere. Thanks in advance.
Good stuff
Great review mate👌🏼
😀 Thank you
What’s it like on woody hedges like Hawthorne? Wil it cut through wood ?
I have a petrol HL100 . What would be the battery alternative?

Richard Pearce I think the extra reach you get is worth the extra cost.

There is no driveshaft on these machines. A combi unit would be your best option.
