I learned more history about the 80s from this series than anything I learned from my own school
To be fair, it'd be kinda weird if students had to learn about Kool Aid Man alongside like... Reagan and Gorbachev.

I'm a 90's kid, born in 87, watching this brought back a lot of memories. I'm sitting next to my brother and kept showing him the video to see the flavors from our childhood. Great video. Educational and interesting.

Being a kid born in the 80's, it was fun seeing all the art work on the packs of Kool Aid that I remember as a kid. Brought me back to my younger days as a kid.
I got Sharkleberry Fin few years ago before they stopped selling it at Kroger. They also had Purplesaurus Rex and Rock-a-Dile Red which I tried recently, really good flavors! Kraft needs to make more of those flavors, I’m sick of seeing aisles of cans of seltzer water!

I love "I Rate the 80's". So glad it's back! I am guessing I'm around your age Chris, my mom ordered us the Kool Aid game (Atari 2600 version) with our KoolAid points back in the day. 4-6 weeks later I finally got the game and stopped playing it as soon as I started. As a kid, I didn't know what the hell to do. Later in life, I really love the game and play it from time to time. Thanks for the great info about a nostalgic drink.

You're a treasure hunter for your avidity to gather all those novelties to the next and older generations for show and tell. This short documentary was also informative to give honor to Kool Aid’s artful, one of kind works, which I never knew of coming from the 90s.
Nostalgic overload. You said it right my good old Chris. I see Kool Aid as a Pac-Man-like alternate universe... hahaha... they have these awesome characters, very colorful and pretty, different themes, environments, and all. Pretty much like a good cartoon from the 80's. When I think Kool Aid I pretty much think of cartoons and fun... good old, classic childhood memories. Thanks a lot for this video.
By the way, where did you get all your Kool Aid merchandise? I love the pitcher, would love to get one, and where did you get all your different Kool Aids? Did you keep them under your bed all these years ?
Oh that was a funko thing they released last year that I picked up for this episode at target. The other stuff I found at antique stores. The packets I had to get through a collector
I grew up with three brothers in the 80s and 90s. We drank a lot of Kool Aid. Lol. Great video!
I was born in 1981. So many memories, even when my mom sometimes mixed Kool-Aid with ginger ale! All of the old flavors need to return!

Great video, Chris! There is probably an entire video's worth of fun talking about the order forms of all the weird stuff you could get from the points on the packages. It was also weird hearing the Monkees have commercials for Kool Aid as well. Nice tribute at the end fpr Tom, too.

I remember some of these commericials, good times.

Loved Kool-Aid as a kid and I still love it as an adult! I usually get those containers that already have both the Kool-Aid and sugar mixed in, though it's sometimes fun to just buy those packets and add the sugar in, myself.

I still have my Kool-Aid Man board game, still is fun to play it with my kids.
My twin sister and I loved drinking Kool aid back then. Purplesaurus Rex and Sharkleberry Finn were our favorites.
My favorite flavor was tropical punch. I collected the proof of purchases, but I forgot what I ever used them for. I miss the 80s and 90s. Everything for kids felt edgy gross or madmax-ish. I'm not sure what happened. Everything is bland and plain now. It's like a reverse of what the boomers used to complain about. They were like "kids these days and their loud metal music, neon colors, and ripped clothing". Now for me its "kids these days with their soft music, their flat user interfaces, and their normal clothing". And it's not that they like these things either. If you show them the stuff we grew up with they kinda want it.

as a non american, i got on the Kool aid very late and it was very underwhelming as a beverage , as kids , we were all about TANG , the orange flavored one, i think the first time i had Kool aid was in those small plastic bottles with the top u had to yank out, then some pouches and finally the small packets , lately i found some Crush cherry limeade that is kind tastier, but to this day, i am on a quest to find GFUEL, but it still eludes me.....

Oh yeah!! I always thought his voice was by Wolfman Jack. Koolaid was basically all I had to drink growing up until I was like 22 when I discovered... water. I do wish Koolaid would release those rare radical flavors again!
I make Rock-A-Dile red by mixing Mixed Berry and Cherry. It's purple, but it tastes exactly like Rock-a-dile Red. You can do the same with Purplesaurus Rex.
