Small tip. Instead of doing these tests om concrete, do it on laminate, pvc and carpets. While watching the video the first thought i got was "I'm not going to use this robot at a factory." You guys are doing great, keep up the good work
While i remain one of your more critical backers (because you're not able to send a review unit to vacuumwars or similar before the end of the Kickstarter campaign) I must congratulate you for this video. I love the long form video offering us a detailed look at the performance of the ascender. Really good to have included a start to finish cleaning of an area including going up and down stairs. Most of all I think it's great you showed us something that is incomplete and needs some more work: the desin of the map. Can't agree more that you focus on functionality rather than making it look pretty. Would be nice to see more footage of things that are still being improved. Personally I'm wondering a bit avout how small the mop is. It's a lot smaller than my current robot's mop. It means it will need to be cleaned faster (while in my case it would need to do multiple flights of stairs to get back to it's base unit). Great job with this video!
Love how transparent you are about your progress and status! There is clearly work to be done, such as cleaning up the app, testing in more complex environments, and production issues. This is a promising place to be at this time.
I know it's less important, but does this have any type of voice notifs like "cleaning complete," "going back to the dock," or others? And will end users be able to customize them? I think it would be fun to make Migo say "here I go, wish me luck!" whenever it's about to climb stairs. 😂
I’m a backer, and it’s really nice to see you follow up on your promise to deliver testing videos. One suggestion to improve transparency for the sound test is to film your phone while running a sound-meter (db) app. I have no doubt it is silent and efficient, but it might help sway some customers. Really excited for the product!
The first thing that impressed me was when the robot became interrupted and went around the persons shoes. When it returned to that same location it avoided, it noticed the obstruction was gone and cleaned it without issue. My s7 maxv ive owned since its release doesnt do that. If it comes across any obstruction it will bypass it everytime it passes that area whether the item is present or not.
I was a backer on Kickstarter and was really excited to receive this product. Unfortunately, you have hit some "speed bumps" and had to cancel the product on Kickstarter. I appreciate the timely refund. Any idea when you may get this product out? I would love to order one as an early backer.
I would like to see more tests about object detection and avoidance please ? Other competitors have a light near the camera to improve recognition, is there one too ?
It also seems it isn't really doing the corners. the header-brushes are more inward and the case doesnt even go in there completely. The main Brush is in the center, so it's not just the 3 CM for the stairs-climbing tool that isnt being a un-vacuumed buffer, but pretty much anything before the center of the machine when it drives on a different axis.
Also, how rigid is the center cylinder of the test area? Would love to see if it start pushing around light things for when I pass out drunk and left my glass on the floor but the schedule starts to clean..
Can you provide measurements for the sound output during cleaning so I can compare to other vacuums? I have no context for the sound tests in the video other than "it sounds like it is working... now it sounds like it is working... harder." How many Db at the different suction levels? I saw these stats on the kickstarter page, but only for the base station, not the unit itself. Thanks!
This video and any others you post on youtube should be posted as an update to the kickstarter, it resolves a lot of recurring questions in the comments.
I am a backer as well. Enjoyed the new video. This demonstration of Ascender doesn't leave the carpet with lines that look aesthetically pleasing. While performance of cleaning, stair climbing, and obstacle avoidance are critical. When cleaning is complete carpet lines should look uniform and hopefully efficient patterns eventually selectable so as not to keep repeating line marks in the same exact locations wearing the carpet non-uniformly. The presentation after cleaning is also very important. To some this may seem unimportant, but I know many that will balk and see this as a go/no go decision. The appearance of the resulting vacuumed carpet matters. I hope Migo will take this to heart, embrace this requirement and then build on it as a feature discriminator.
I have backed the project and cannot wait for the Ascender to clean our home. Just one question about the rubber brush. Is that included in the kit or can we purchase it? I have also pledged for the accesories kit, dont know it if is included in there.
Our product will be offline accessible. Ascender supports local operation, which allows remote control via a smart app even without an internet connection, enabling a more flexible cleaning solution anytime, anywhere, even offline.
You highlighted my comment in this video and now, we can see it go up 2 steps and down 2 steps. With 14 days to go, we need to see it reliably go up and down many different sets of full stairs, or acknowledge there is work to be done, otherwise it's best to wait for it to be completed and in the hands of reviewers. For some, that potentially might mean waiting for an improved, successor model, as well. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of the product but it needs to be able to do it's core function, and do it well. It would be better to address all current issues and how you hope they will be overcome rather than pretend everything is perfect at this stage. This said, make no mistake, we're all hoping it will be a success.
Agreed that they should have video of it working on many different styles of stairs, but they do have a video of it working on a full set of stairs in the video "Narrow Stairs in Loft Whole-house Cleaning" so it works on at least 1 full set of stairs, but without seeing more who knows how reliable it is on different stairs
Are there any specs for stair climbing speed? I am curious how long it will take to climb 11 stairs. I also have two sunk in living rooms. Will the map be able to handle those and the main stairs? Is there a sq ft limitation on house? We are 2950sq/ft and have upstairs and basement.
Hi, We have simple 2.8-3cm high doorsteps. Perhaps this is an easy job for the Ascender, but I hope you can confirm here. Can the robot easily lift itself over high doorsteps? 🤞 All other vacuum robots I can find on the marked have a maximum of 2cm in doorstep height.
If the height of a step or floor threshold is less than 2cm (approximately 0.78 inches), the Ascender can easily traverse it without any special action. However, for heights greater than 2cm, Ascender's stair-climbing feature kicks in, enabling it to tackle any stair height up to 22cm (about 8.7 inches).
QUestion, my I backed and I am exited but I am afraid of the stairs size. THe high is good, but there is a corner for about 80 degree, this means one side of the stair in the corner is about 30 cm long and the other side gets smaller and smaller down to 10 cm. Can he hanbdle that and climbe just up on the bigger side?
Hi there, Ascender expertly navigates the nosing part with precision. For nosing less than 2.5cm, Ascender operates in its standard mode. Should the nosing exceed 2.5cm, the front ToF sensor triggers a warning signal, prompting the machine to readjust its positioning for the climbing process.
Thank you for providing the current status. I have to say that the way ascender moves around is not impressive at all, a lot of small moves like it doesn’t know it's size at all. Very very far from walls and very very uneffective if you look the time spent vs the area covered. My dreame l10s ultra is SOOO much more quick and accurate. I am thinking of baking out
This is what I want to know, if it can figure it out please take my money! This includes urine spots on carpet which should be easy to recognize because of color differentiation.
@@honestychampmilland2007 Yeah I asked them about the S8 and they were like "it doesn't detect anything like that" I decided to go w/ the kickstarter since it was half the price on kickstarter, and hopefully just as good as the S8 MaxV Ultra which is releasing in 10 days.

Great suggestion, currently, because the camera is positioned too far away, the decibel meter is really hard to see clearly.

I could not agree more. Half the reason I purchased a robot vacuum was to be able to come home to fresh and crisp carpet lines every day.
I'm a backer as well and hopefully those lines are not the finished product. I completely agree that's very important.
Can it climb turning stairs, because if that is the case, I want one!
Does the base station remove pet hair from the robot?
How will the robot handle mirrors? My terrible ecovacs robot often crash the hole map.
I hope the Ascender works fine with grounded mirrors.

H 3.86 inches * W 16.54 inches * L 11.22 inches
H 9.5cm * W 42cm * L 28.5cm

Climbing at a speed of 10 to 15 seconds per step, 2950 square feet is no problem at all for the Ascender.

You may need to make a no go zone. My current vacuums would dive right off that step.
why does the sound cut out when the robot is going up or down the stairs?
The sound wasn't cut out; it was actually the vacuum motor that stopped
During the stair-climbing process, the vacuuming function will be paused until the machine has fully climbed onto the step.
What is the maximum stair nose length the robot can climb over?
Hi there, Ascender expertly navigates the nosing part with precision. For nosing less than 2.5cm, Ascender operates in its standard mode. Should the nosing exceed 2.5cm, the front ToF sensor triggers a warning signal, prompting the machine to readjust its positioning for the climbing process.
