THAT WAS A CAT IN THE CAGE AT THE FARM ABOUT TO BE SHOT! I have been watching your videos for over a year now and I am disgusted that Rob was not actively opposed to that farm owner trapping and shooting cats. Humans domesticated cats over 10,000 years ago for our own selfish reasons, so it is our responsibility to care for the ones that are living and reduce the population of unwanted cats by spaying and neutering. WE DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT AS A SPECIES TO TRAP AND KILL CATS! The fact that Rob was not only okay with this but filmed it and put it on CZcams like it's normal or all right is sickening. You just lost me as a viewer and subscriber for good, and I guarantee you that I'm not the only one. Disgusting.
FWIW I didn't like seeing what happened either. However, Mike summed up the situation succinctly, describing the issue of native species versus introduced pests, or did you miss that part? Only 200-ish years ago, there were zero cats in New Zealand. There are now an estimated 2,500,000 ferel cats with an annual kill rate of tens of millions of our bird species including native Kiwi (yes, you read that right, Kiwi - arrrgh!), Tui, Weka, Wood Pigeon, bats, the list goes on.. Then there are the species nearing extinction including Takahe (500), NZ Fairy Turn (24), Kakapo (247), etc.. And we mustn't forget to mention the native skints, beetles, and all manner of critters that cats decimate. Based on your rant, I'm guessing that if you were in my position, you would have taken the cat to be spayed. What then? Would you offload this wild ferel animal that will never be tamed onto an unsuspecting family? Or would you then release it back to the wild to continue indescriminant killing of our stunningly beautiful native birds and, as Mike said, precious fauna? Or would it inevitably be put down? In the meantime, the animal has undergone heinous stress unnecessarily. Cats are an introduced pest in New Zealand. They do not belong here in the wild. You seem like a decent person with a good heart. However, your apparent naivety/ignorance seems to have created this emotional outburst. I suggest you consider other lives that matter in locations where they are supposed to be thriving and not put under threat by the likes of ferel cats. Here's some food for thought on the issue from TVNZ. czcams.com/video/Ul_o8gpmXVw/video.htmlsi=w9Nkv2Jhd1f93i6k

When I'd finished watching this video, my partner walked downstairs and asked "what are you grinning about". I apparently was just staring into space with this smile on my face. It's when I realised how much joy your Vids bring to me on Sundays. Out of all the Sailing Vids I'm subscribed to, yours is my favourite.
I am so happy you got rid of the Rat. They can do incredible damage and pass on diseases. Ivan is taking his reponsiblity very seriously and is turning into a exceptional man. It was great to see Rob and Finn in different surroundings. A truly interesting and entertaining video as usual. Thanks for sharing. Keep well and safe. James.
Rachel, Rob and boys I absolutely love your videos I fine them very entertaining, I was very impressed with this video. Ivan as Captain was great. Wonderful that Ivan Felt capable to take on repair jobs in his Dads absence. Have been watching your videos randomly as they show up on my IPad. Great job with the rat eradication, most impressive. Look forward to more videos Barry Holm, in B.C. Canada(Vancouver)
Thank you Barry. Ivan did a great job attempting to repair the freezer. Could not have done more. Of deep concern is the randomness of your watching Barry.😉😊
Wow, what a video....Ivan is taking on so much responsibility....Mom remains cool, calm and collected and Dad and Finn helping friends and no more rat!!!! Take care my friends!!!!
Wow! I love how each of you are very competent sailors. No one has to tell you what needs to be done on that boat. You just bite the bullet and get to work. This is team work at its best. Rob must be so proud to see that the boat has been left in such capable hands.

Congrats Ivan, you now know what it is to have crabs haha. But seriously, that is a pretty gross endeavor. I would hate to imagine if that was the norm world wide.
The spaghetti bolognaise looked delicious. Did you know that the human body can not store protein? The body can store carbohydrates and fat, but not protein, at least in significant quantities. Excess protein in the body is mostly broken down into urea, through a process called deamination, and excreted.

I don't want to think about that. Most of the areas he got into are too small for humans to venture, just for cables to pass through. Thank goodness the freezer is the only wire he knawed through.....we think.
