- In todays video I carry on stripping down the damage on the Nissan GTR, but I find a problem that I’m not sure can be resolved too easily.

Sorry this one was only a short update! It felt a lot longer when I filmed it 😂
@Username.Login.Password you're right we do have people in the UK now. We've had them here for a while. I personally wouldn't worry about the roof, unless it gets really leaky! Maybe it's at a join and an easy (ish) repair
TWSS
Why don’t you get in touch with salvage rebuilds they have a proper jig sure they would help you out and do a collab
@savingsalvage, if you need a natter about the gtr or anything else mechanical/structural, give me a shout mate, 30 years in here bud
The impact was at the rear corner, the idiot that did this hit my rear wheel with his front nearside wheel, the impact tore the back wheel off basically trying to stuff it further into the wheel arch which is the damage you’re now try to address. Fookin scary 😟
I take my hat off to you Dean 👍🏼
Was this your car?
Yep
This needed to be put on a jig before anything was removed! Then pulled in stages as the panels are removed. Your definitely in at the deep end now. Don't give up on it just need a good plan of action!
The car needs to go on a proper Jig that has a good measuring system. You have got no idea how much the car can move with this sort of damage. It needs a complete inner quarter panel, which is not an on the floor job. I can assure you if you dont put it on a jig, & measure it. You will regret it at some point in the future. You need to bolt a new subframe in it first, chances are it wont fit,
Would a tram gauge not suffice?
💯 needs a full line ment it’s probably unlined the floors and everything he needs Paul on this bad boy
Needs Arthur Tussik the master
It will leave 3 tyre mark and only slightly pulling to the side 😂
Yer needs stripping to chassis and realigning
Why not give the Salvage Rebuilds UK guys a shout about how to fix the lower damage, be a good cross channel tie up, and what Chris doesn't about bodywork isn't worth knowing.
I'd say the car needs to go on a proper jig especially as its a suspension mounting point.
Good shout
Love the idea of a joint venture with Salvage Rebuilds if it's feasible.
@@24k__JWhat on earth are you on about?
@@user-sf7kl9uh7kfor him everyone is useless unless they have multimillion £ of equipment.
Dean, i commented earlier but are doing so again as i think you really need to take some points on board. Im 61 old & have been in the job since i was 21. There is simply nothing on a car that i have not done, so please take my comments as coming from someone with a very long history. You really need to source a competent body shop with a good jig & user. A Global jig would be my choice, as there measuring system is so good. However its always down to how good the person is using it & how good they are. This car has had a good old hit, & really needs to be repaired, supported & measured on a jig. Take no notice of alot of the other comments regarding Salvage rebuilds, there are plenty of people closer to you & who are much more competent than they are. If you continue to repair it on the floor you will chase your tail with that car, & it will never be right. Its all a learning curve mate, & all good experience for you for the future. Take a positive from it, that you will learn things that you would not of had you not of bought it.
its already been said, Jig is only way forward to get it straight. good luck . love this car
on the box section at the bottom remove rear wheel and use your dozer pull on a 45 degree angle backwards as you need to pull the damage in the reverse to how it happened put some tension on it and slowly hammer it back out till it is flat again use a block of wood and a hammer the wood isn't as agressive as just using the hammer and less damage to the sheet metal don't over think it take your time and you will get it right if you can then that saves you hours in time if you get it out and still aren't happy then replace it as a panel beater myself i always have a good look at the damage try to get it to oem spec and if not then replace it but sometimes you just have to fix it because it will turn into bigger than ben hur😁but what i am trying to say is don't be afraid of trying to fix it first thats how you learn and get better keep up the great work cheers from down under
Couldn't wait to comment, waited for this one...!!!
Get the dozer on the damage, you should be able to get that out. Great work Dean..!!
Never seen anyone do this amount of panel work without putting the car on a proper frame jig! BOLD! If you have a mate who has one get it on there when attempting to put new panels on.
Hey Dean, after reading the comments and have to agree, it needs a specialist with a jig to sort that corner out.
Once that is done you are on a home run.
Would also make great content.
Good luck 👍
What an amazing journey along the real world of automotive repair. Thank You !
Commendable that you are addressing that damage 👍
It would have been easy to cover it it with the new panels and pass it off as correct.
Looking good Dean, your keen eye for a straight panel is serving you well , steady away 👌
Definitely a good idea to see if you can do something with salvage rebuilds as others say, the jig and Chris’s skill would have that back straight in no time
When I see this comment I thought exactly the same it would be a great collaboration between the two channels and yes Chris is a master with that jig and dozer dean contact them it will be a first and great content seeing you Rob and Chris getting it straight will be amazing 👍🏻💯
Ditto had the same idea
I agree. It’s not a diy job this. He needs to reach out to someone that can properly help.
Chris does not like salvage that has been previously worked on
@@stevenjohnson6082maybe as he has only stripped not starting repairs be great colab
Love your videos Dean. The honesty and workmanship is first class. True craftsmanship. Great job once again.
Salvage Rebuilds Uk....! Rob and Chris ..no one else .
I love your honest and thorough approach… you’ll sort it, great content this week tho… I’d love the Salvage Rebuild lads to do a collab but they are about getting the job done…rather than what makes good content. I defo think Chris would advise tho… he’s a nice guy… good luck… don’t give up, it’s almost there!!
Love the channel. Love the fact that you always take the time and money to replace all damaged parts, but (first off all, I’m NO expert, but what I normally see people do is. First put it on a frame machine en pull most damage then mesure and then replace what’s needed. Seeing the jobs you do, you really need a frame machine man.
Needs putting on the jig mate, 100%. 30 years in the trade, here. If you panel that back up it'll be all over the place
Defo 100000000000% needs to go on a caroliner
I've got 35 years experience, parts car only,
@abrown2004 if you're 35 years in, you'll know exactly how that's fixable 😉
Great video , another channel worth getting hold of is salvage rebuilds chris is a master with the dozer 👍
Dean that damage to the bottom needs to be fixed properly like many have already said a jig would be needed,
Remember this is a GTR running 500+ bhp and most are driven hard so for piece of mind for the next owner find a jig
Your dedication to these jobs is amazing this GTR would of been spares to most 👍
What a massive job to take on>>>>but you know your stuff>>>can’t wait to see it finished>>>✌️✌️✌️
I really hope you can overcome this problem! All the best!
Don’t cut anything off until the new parts are there and you have seen how the pull goes. As mentioned before you need to fit the subframe to see if any of the suspension has moved and a trip to a jig with measurements would be best. As with the Porsche you chopped apart you don’t just start cutting panels off as you have nowhere to pull and it makes the whole job harder to line up and measure.
Youll need a cheeky colab with Salvage rebuild uk. Let chris work his magic on it will be like new after his touched it 💪🏻
Love your determination !. Sorry to say it definitely needs a measuring system jig.
Think you need a frame jig just to make sure the corner of the floor repair. The rear subframe lines up as it lifted the factory. Great to see it stripped down.
Keep up the good work love this one especially you are getting there long way to go you can do it
No disrespect if you don't know how or what to do with that bit then I would find someone to help that has the knowledge and maybe the extra tools/equipment to do it right and 100% safe. You can then carry on with the rest of the build. Please don't take this the wrong way as I really enjoy watching your video's and have seen your more than capable of doing most things yourself. Keep up the good work, looking forward to more video's.👍👍
No that’s fine, I don’t pretend to be a bodywork guy but it’s something I like doing and keen to gain more knowledge on.
Well done Dean on the GTR. Excited to see how you tackle the repair near the subframe. Lol you can hear it in your sighs thats this project is going to be a pain. Have faith you will nail it. 🎉
Don't give, ask Chris and Rob for help and advice, great video as usual 👍
Lot of hours. 9k cars traded retailed. Plug play in out valet and light prep. Ain’t been brave enough take the big B pill bother CoPart specials. If retire motortrade yup. Would enjoy but salvage repair … great satisfaction. This looks light salvage. Shows how much I know. Nooby in salvage a no go so I’d need speed up if went salvage in my 50s. Great vids and series’s. Like a one man Salvage Garage. Solid channel. Enjoyable content.
Hi weld a bracket down in the corner and pull it backwards, that is the way it would of crumbled in originally and that should give you a clearer idea of where to cut it and rejoin your new parts/panel also exposing the hole for the sub frame mounting!!
I've seen less damaged cars be classed as a Cat B, that's so much work. So labour intensive but it'll be perfect once finished
Wouldn’t even know where to start doing this build as it looks like it’s been hit hard in quarter and it’s damaged inner and outer skin big job for you mate but as always you will figure it out 👍🏽👍🏽
“Fasten things up” that’s Quality content Dean mate 🤣👍😎
Could this be pulled back out on a jig? If the subframe bolts on in 3 places that will give you two original reference points as to where the damaged section needs to be. Then perhaps it could be built back up with thicker metal than before and reinforced/strengthened. Even if that were possible, it seems like a jig is in order to get the measurements absolutely spot on, perhaps even outsourcing for that segment of the repair would allow you to get on with another project in the meanwhile to offset the costs.
P.S. Credit to you for tackling a big job like this! It must be nerve wracking but you have balls of steel. Respect!
I think the really bad section needs pulling out more it should pull fingers crossed 🤞. We have every confidence in you 👍👍
I am still amazed that you didn't even notice that inner damage from the very beginning. As you have the spare rear part, why not see if its possible to make a cut where the damage ends and weld in the new. You have come this far so you might as well try. Good luck
Have a chat with Chris on salvage rebuilds he's a wealth of knowledge
You can't dozer and heat it like some people are saying, the subframe attaches to that, if its not spot on it'll end up floaty as hell.
Jig would be required to get that spot on, if you don't I think you'll regret it
Go to a body shop and see if someone will help you, it could save you a lot of time and money Dean, great video as always
Nightmare Dean, sure you will sort it. Great video as always. Cheers.
Great content, loving it!
Looking back, the damage doesn't look to bad. Just goes to show everyone, damage salvage can cost you dearly. Thankfully Dean is on it 👍...
He isn't on it though. If he was it would have already been on an alignment jig.
Hi Dean , great content as always BUT that like everyone else has said it needs to go on a jig, don't waist your time doing the repair only to find out its not straight and fish tails down the road
Dean, these cars are very hard to repair properly when it's rear damage. If you had the datum sheets for the car and a good trammel gauge, you might be able to fix the car without putting it on a jig. But, I agree with the comments. It needs to go on a jig. You can pick these up for peanuts anyway. My concern is that when a vehicle has had a hard impact, the force needs to come out some were. If I were you, I would remove the interior and inspect the floor very carefully. I am repairing a car at the moment, which is hit hard in the bottom A post, this caused the roof to ripple on the far corner and when I removed the rear quarter glass, the opening had folded on its self.
You can not cut corners on this one, mate. You need to strip the car totally and remove all the damage panels.
Hopefully with heat and patience that section will play for you ...but yeah going to be a real challenge ...good luck sir...
Great job Dean!
My heart sank when it got to the end of the video, you’ve done brill up to now, personally I’d go with the flow of most of the comments here and get the last bit done by a specialist, no shame in that at all bud, but I’m no expert as you know with my crappy channel 😂😂😂😂😂
Breathe brother......breathe. The force is strong with you. Fix you can, sure I am. Obstacles, path to success they are!
That’s some worrying damage, but content tho! Look forward to the progress.
Great work dean 👊👊👊
Do a joint video with Chris and Rob at salvage rebuilds uk…. That’ll be one to watch ….
Enjoy your Channel. I would suggest you take it to a Autobody shop cause you would need to put the car on a JIG strap it down and remove the right rear arch when the whole car is tigh down. That,s what I would consider.
You'd be surprised what a good bodyshop can repair with a Celette frame alignment jig and skilled operators. Mate owned RB bodyshop in Brick lane, Brixton late 80's/90's and also was RAC championship winner in his MK2 Escort, I've seen his car in horrendous conditions after multiple body rolls and anything can be repaired if you have the knowledge.
Wow. Your hair grows fast fella !
Bit of a pickle with this one Dean, like everyone says you need to get it on a jig or by the the time you've built it back up it will be all over the place, Good luck I'm sure you'll sort it.
I would definitely see if @salvage rebuilds could help out chris is remarkable on a jig would be nice seeing 2 my fav youtubers colabing
Just keep going buddy, I'd start stripping the driver side down completely (take all the carpets etc out to see what the deal is). At this point you can't make it worse. 👍👍 Then I'd also get it on a jig to get it measured so you know exactly where you are.
Youll get it done stay positive and grind, ignore the haters. They would be too scared to do an oil change
Was looking forward to this build shame it has been stalled …
Re advise this said by another viewer (salvage rebuilds as others say, the jig and Chris’s skill would have that back straight in no time)
Your into the make or break zone don’t give up
thankyou Dean this really is a challenge but youll crack it im sure,,👌👍
Should have been a Cat B really. Gutted for you, but I don't think you can repair that safely.
Possibly should have been cat b dean hats off to you as stated salvaged rebuilds you and them are my top 2 on the tube be great content 🎉
Dean I can safety say that’s the “ Kinkiest “ video you’ve done so far 😂, gotta love a few kinks in life 😉.
Saving salvage and salvage rebuilds together 😲😲😲
Attach dozer under tension and carefully apply heat making sure nothing in the area of damage will catch fire. As it moves keep applying more tension on dozer.
You need to collab with salvage rebuilds for this and share the footage etc across both channels.
Dude, you need to get it jigged. It can be pulled with a dozer but a jig will be better especially for the location of the subframe mount.
Don’t be too down about it , just needs a bit more thought, obviously a lot more work than originally planned for but maybe need some third party support
It needs pulling out on a jig and then you can section the parts in just reinforce them from the inside it would be more than strong enough xxxx
Use the dozer to pull the remaining damage you can weld tabs to what you have so you pull in the correct place
Was thinking would rob and chris from salvage rebuilds let you use there new jig its amazing
Be careful, the sensor you ripped off from the B pillar is part of the impact detection system. You risk setting of the airbags.
there's no airbags left to set off!
Dean, having watched you for some time you always do such a good and honest job. However, I think in this instance you really do need some very technical help. In my opinion, not that I am a professional, you would do well to discuss with Rob and Chris @ Salvage Rebuilds and see if they might be interested in a collaboration. I know normally they like to work on their own stuff, but few can sort problems with jigging like Chris.
Whatever way you go, good luck. Cheers, Bob
how close are you to sittingbourne what do it look like from underneath has the leg deformed right through or just the open side like i said on a previous post needs a jig to move that damage where you mount the dozer you are going to do more damage it may pay to fit all new the it will be right
Good luck with this, i hope you find a solution
Can i just give the tip to use oil while drilling with the spotweld bit. It will prolong the life of the bit tenfold
Maybe you should take it to a proper body shop to go onto a jig and get all of it pulled out to the correct measurement . Question when is a update coming on the gt3 gone a bit quiet on the rebuild
said on last video needs a proper jig pull and definitely a new sub frame
That needs to go on a jig Dean
A jig Dozer has limitations. You have reached them and gone past more than you should have. Because now it a lot more difficult to jig . But definitely doable.
The deeper you go into this its screaming that it now needs to go on a jig, or a replacement chassis? Top work as ever. 👌
Dude, I don't know how the hell you keep a positive mind doing all that stuff in the first place. I'd have power tools bouncing off the walls of the workshop. Genius and great watch... Also tell me are you based in East Anglia...? Just curious?
strip and measure points and pull to a close as spec as you can get with the dozer then cut n splice in new panels, or pay someone to jig it,
I think you are going to have to find a frame machine to pull that section, I do t believe it will be too hard and with a proper frame machine you should be able to pull it back to normal but it’s it really a repair that can be done in a shed unfortunately.
You probably know by the comments it should have been put on a jig, you will never pull that damage out with a dozer. You have the heel off the dozer against the subframe, your pushing against the part you should be pulling out. You need to take the subframe out and remove the carpets to find the extent of the damage. If there is no more damage, you could still put it on a jig to get a good pull on it, and get the subframe mounting points correct. There's not much left to attach a clamp to, but you could get around that. It could be done without a jig, but that would involve cutting more panels out and pulling on the floor itself, you have to get the rear subframe mounting points correct (sorry you probably know that) You can use the new subframe as a guide. If you're going to join that inner panel (where you had the lazer line) you will need to put the panels on individually from the inside out, you would not have access to weld the joint.
Sorry this is so long, but I'm an ex panel beater, and you sounded as if you needed a bit of help.
I agree with other people, ask Chris at Salvage rebuilds UK to help.
I think you will need to transport it to a bodyshop with a Jig to get it 100%,,i have had write offs all my life,in the last 20 years they were jigged, before that it was measurements and points of reference and modification to over come the problem, not ideal, but it worked fine and nobody else drove the car
The rest was good to fix but that part down there dont know. Maybe it will stay a salvage car for racing on the track maybe?
It can be fixed tho it just needs more panels taken off to replace it 😊
Best would be to send it to Lithuania to Arthur Tussik, hew can fix it. Like others said it has to go on a frame machine with accurate measurement.
Car need a jig with a measuring unit first. Before start cutting bits off ,All repairable but lot of work to do right
Its a massive job damaged is two deep into the car its not just outer panel, i agree withDan it needs a jig and alignment with new floor panels to make it straight sorry our news is bad but its the truth. Stay safe love your channel this one is a bit to much.
Chris and rob will sort that out no problem salvage rebuilds
