  • Fly fishing using nymphs is probably the most effective technique for catching brown trout, grayling and most other species. In this episode, Cato Vivelid Monsen and Jarkko Suominen goes nymphing in a small river in the forests of North-Eastern Finland, close to the Russian border, showing you everything you need to know if you’re new to or just want to learn more about fly fishing using nymphs - what gear to use, the best flies, how to fish and where to fish.
    How to tie the top 3 nymphs for grayling and brown trout (Hare's Ear, Orange Tag and Pheasant Tail):
    • Top 3 Nymphs for Grayl...

      I suggest you come over to the Czech Republic. Fishing the Vltava and Otava rivers should definitely be on your bucket list. As it leaves the Lipno dam, Vltava river becomes a world-class fishery with big and healthy population of wild brown trout as well as good ammount of big stocked rainbow trout. However if you fancy fishing small streams in the middle of nowhere surrounded by an epic scenery, then the upper parts of the Otava and Vltava rivers located in the Šumava national park are your go-tos. Nothing beats fishing with tiny dry flies for chunky grayling in the middle of autumn.

      kanalgratisdotse Can you make a video on soft hackles/reverse hackles. How they move in river water? I’m puzzled why they are considered a universal fly. You can fish nymphs in the same matter. Don’t soft hackles collapse in water? SOFT HACKLES VS NYMPHS

    • @suominenjj
      @suominenjj Před 4 lety +1

      I love the 10' versions and they are my go-to tools when nymphing. Especially in the Nordic countries. Many of the waters up here are structured so that you will be able to get close enough with a 10' rod. The 10' is also a bit easier to handle being a bit shorter. However there are times when you need the extra reach and that's where the 11' Nymphmaniac comes to play.

      @@suominenjj other topics people would enjoy watching would be,
      1. Difference between a cheap rod and an expensive rod.
      2. Casting techniques with different rods, situations etc..
      3. How to read the water
      4. A deep dive into accessories such as bags, floatants, line speed liquids.. everything you need and use (plus things you dont need but is just cool) in your bag when fly fishing!
      5. Different indicators (size, material, situations etc) pros and cons with them.
      6. I am not a put n take angler myself(used to be), but going fishing around the putntake lakes around stockholm would be highly appreciated by your viewers I think.
      7. Difference between a cheap and expensive reel.
      8. A lot of people are buying fishing equipment from alibaba, wish, aliexpress. Judging by the pictures the reels and rods look awesome, but just how good are they really? Idea: test a few different popular fly fishing setups from the China stores and review them. This will give you thousands and thousands of views!
