The second meanest thought that I had was you seem like you're pandering for views and don't really believe some of the things you say. Which isn't so much as mean, as it is expected behavior for anyone doing this. The meanest was "how long till OF?"

The thing that comes off most from your videos is how you seem like such a genuine person Georgia. And that’s such an endearing trait in this day and age where especially online, it feels like the environment nurtures people to have a facade to put another barrier between the people you interact with online. Which I guess makes it easy for many people to just harass and spew vitriol to others.

I resisted therapy for decades because I thought I could handle it all, because I am the caregiver, not taker. I now understand the value of talking to someone who listens and helps me realize, on my own, the issues I NEED TO DEAL WITH so I can help others. That I can’t help others if I can’t help me. Being on the patient's side; the psych care workers I've dealt with who are emotionless have always been the ones to take what I say and stab me in the back with it. Just grandiose fools who are too removed from their own humanity to see me as a person - I'm just a meal ticket with those ones. They ALWAYS 5150 me even when I'm not a danger to myself or others. I've even gotten to the psych ward once after one of these emotionless social workers, 5150d me and my inpatient psychiatrist was like, "Why are you here?" I told him how my words were twisted during my eval and that my moods cycle so quickly that a 5150 isn't even helpful when they aren't twisted because I'm usually fine again by the time they submit the 5150. He was very happy that I signed a voluntary admit form upon getting 5150d, so I could voluntarily leave after the 72 business hours. He said he would have released me then, anyway. 😂
Had a similar experience when I was eligible for a second eval in the ER, and my 5150 was reversed by the second social worker - she acted like a human being, whereas the first one was that emotionless robot. All the emotionless ones offer as an emotion is pitty in their eyes, and it is extremely intimidating.

Second comment, to feed the algorithm and offer my two cents: I've had therapists who are the opposite of animated and look absolutely bored out of their minds while I recount both briefly dying and the two different occasions my bullies tried to actually kill me. The damage done by that has basically kept me away from therapy ever since. I would be *thrilled* to have a therapist be visibly emotionally invested in a session, including being excited when things are good and emotional when things are bad. People can have their preferences but I can't imagine looking at how you conduct yourself and going, "Ew, she gives a crap about people. Gross."

They NEVER use their actual name; the TangerineGibbon has given them the Courage to abuse Women.......and finally......most of them are 12 to 14 years of age. When I REALLY needed a Therapist following a Massive Stroke I was fortunate to be able to see Claire Nicolette at Cornell University. Absolutely World Class. Years later I began watching YOU......and found many similarities between the two of You. Even though I know that every CZcamsr (any any public person) gets negative comments, there is something reassuring about seeing a person you respect deal with the same things you encounter yourself. Somehow, some of the people who leave these types of comments have a way of picking at our worst insecurities, whether they relate to our appearance, the way we speak, etc. The way you discuss these comments, somehow still conveying respect for those who left them, is really pleasing and therapeutic. Thank you for this.

Georgia, I find you videos very enlightening. As a veteran with PTSD...mental health seems to have stigma and I hate that. Because we are all human bad things happen to us in life mental health issue need treatment not ignored or enabled.
Also, my dad was my yoda as he was filled with wisdom...As you talked about comments and being mean...when I was young he told me "Son, always remember. You cannot control others, but you can control how YOU react to others. So, make sure not to let others control you with their words. Believe in yourself. This will also show your level of character and their words will show their lack of character too." Because if you chose to control your emotions and not lash out and chose not to react to someone's words or actions. I hope this lesson from him is something you have heard too.
I do agree with no such thing as Toxic Masculinity as I don't believe in Toxic Femininity either. Toxic behavior is just that..toxic in both sexes. My dad was epitome of true masculinity (gentle, kind, but strong of heart and soul, stood by his principles) which is why Aragorn form LOTR shows what true masculinity is. - czcams.com/video/GruFzUsKddI/video.html

I personally love the therapists I’ve had that were animated and engaged. I frequently feel as if I’m a bit obtuse so when I can see and connect with them and that they’re actually reacting to what I’m saying, it makes me feel heard and makes me interpret their reaction as honest. I’m also in the arts and enjoy performing so perhaps that aspect of myself is something I should maybe consider exploring a bit.

Hi Georgia, I for one enjoy your insights and how you present them. When it came to how you are during a session with a client I got reminded by something Jonathan from CinemaTherapy said. (I dont have the direct quote, but the message stuck with me). "As a therapist they train you to be cold and detached, but the more you allow yourself to be yourself the more people you will attract who appreciate that and who can connect with those parts and the more you can help. It's the connection that heals." I thought that was a nice way to put it. I don't know if you experience it the same way, but people should find a therapist that they trust, and I think that works better if they also show who they are. Otherwise I might as well go chat with chatGPT (NOT ADVICED) in stead of a real person . Keep up the great work and Thank You!

Your name also rang a bell, turns out you were on tech podcasts I listened to years ago, cool to come across you again for such different topics!

I’m sorry you (and other content creators) have to deal with this as part of the job. I’ve personally been loving your channel, as it’s totally up my alley. The psychology of characters is my favorite part of writing and consuming media, and the insight and passion (love the themed costumes every video!) you bring to each one is wonderful. Hope you have a great year ahead and more great content to come!

Hi Gerogia, it is genuinely interesting some of the opinions and personalities that come out in comments sections. Overall I enjoy and appreciate your work. It is fun to see the intersection between some popular stories and psychology as it can apply to everyone. Thank you and please keep all the grateful comments in mind regardless of what the folks out there trying to knock you down a peg say.

It's one thing to have the strength and confidence to confront mean comments on the Internet, and it's a whole other thing to actually have the right tools to deconstruct them and turn them into a learning experience for all of us. So many other creators attempt to read mean comments, but a lot of times it just feels like them punching back with aggression, dismissiveness and spite. You handled this with absolute grace and class and that's damned impressive to be honest.
I first discovered you from your Arcane videos, which was fortunate because I was actually feeling emotionally distraught after that series (it's so good!), and I've been subscribed ever since. A lot of your other videos have actually helped me process things in my own personal life and I just wanted to say thanks! Keep on doing what you're doing. I think mental health is slowly starting to be de-stigmatized and I am glad there are people like you at the forefront of that effort.

I am sad to see how many people have issues with something in their own lives and they have to shit on anyone that checks a box for it. Could not imagine living that way. I gave up a long time ago trying to understand the excuses people give themselves to shit on other people. Some people love to do it but I find it more sad and disturbing that a lot just were told by society to find someone that fits a box and attack them because they fit that box and no other reason and then they do like dogs trained to attack. I am sorry you have to deal with it and I hope for every mean comments you get 99 amazing ones.

I’m truly sorry you have to put up with that sort of negativity in this. But know that your work is valued and admired. I personally credit you with my own realization that I would benefit from therapy. I grew up with a mindset that if I could do well in the world then I didn’t “need help.” But I found myself bawling in my office after work while watching your analysis of Luisa from Encanto. I got myself thinking “a grown man with a happy marriage and a proper salary job shouldn’t normally be crushed like this” or rather, I was brought up with that thinking. I don’t think I would have had that epiphany without your video, and I’ve been a fan since. Keep up the amazing work!

I think there's a big difference between a therapist and a film student. A therapist would analyse a fictional character on a psycho-emotional level while a film student would analyse all aspects of a film/series on deeper more nuanced level because of the different expertise. A therapist understands psychology while a film student understands film.

The thing about negative comments is that most of them are likely kids saying all of this, especially when you can tell by the way they say certain things. Sometimes it's teens and adults as well, but mostly kids and young teens. I'm relatively new to your channel, but I have seen you in my recommendation before but didn't watch them at the time. I genuinely like listening and watching your content because I learn something new and become educated in things I never knew or didn't understand fully. So thank you for making these videos and keep it up!

Love your content, your usual analysis to all these lovely and epic adventures and stories in entertaiment take a whole new level when you take the take to dive deep into why we care so much for them, cry, laugh and get immersed with these characters. I know that you will probably not let these mean comments get in your way of the awesome content you put out, but just wanted to say, me and a lot of people really love your work and care for you also having fun and a good experience when doing these videos, so you can always come back to that if you feel sad or threatened by that small portion of the internet. Cheers

    Hi Georgia,
I tend to watch your videos when Im feeling down or hit one of my depressive episodes as I have Bipolar II. Your videos are like a weird kind of therapy for me.
That being said, I really wish you could be my therapist. I find your bubbly, outgoing, but still analytical nature to be attractive to me in terms of what I look for in a therapist. Just based on your videos, Id feel safe and comfortable opening up to you about my life and the pains of the past.
I just felt like this needed to be shared. I know it isn't possible for us to form that therapist-patient bond as you live in a different country to me, but one can dream. I've even considered moving to your area just to have you as a therapist, but I have to stay in the US for now. I have really struggled bonding with therapists, and because of that, at one point I really did want to move to your area just to have someone I could connect with.
Thank you so much for your time in reading this essay of a comment, because I really felt that I needed to share all this with you to keep things mainly on the positive side.
Also, instead of just doing one nice comments video, you could make a series to highlight many of the nice comments you receive from videos so you dont feel as guilty leaving some people out. This is just a thought.

I will never understand that type of behavior in people. Making a willful choice to be unkind to someone. Going out of your way to tear someone down. What purpose or value does it serve? How can someone feel empowered through acts of harm? It just seems nonsensical to me.
For the record, you seem like exactly the type of therapist I would want to have. I want my therapist to be in-tune and open with their emotions, because then I feel like I’m talking to an actual human that can relate to my feelings. I’d feel way more comfortable expressing myself in that setting, rather than if it were someone that seems detached and analyzes me like a subject under a lens.
