DRIFT TRIKE CLUTCH VS CVT TORQUE CONVERTER. WHAT'S BETTER?

  • Torque converter is much better for drift trike set up than clutch.
    Here's a measurements description of this frame.
    Two main pipes that makes up the frame is 65 inches long(165cm)
    They were bent 130°degrees at 25 inch mark (64cm)
    Foot rests or pegs are 20 inches long (50cm) and were bent 130° degrees at 7 inch(18cm) mark.
    Seat support or seat rest pipes are 20 inches each(50cm) and they are bent 90° degrees at 4 inch(10cm) mark. Then they are welded together to form that type of form. Rear handle is made the same way but the length is up to you. Two ears or axle supports are 30 inches long(76cm) and are bent 130° degrees at 10 inch(26cm) mark on each side. All measurements are approximate and can be modified to fit the persons height and length during the build process.

    Its not the clutch! Its the oil sensor! When you slide or take a severe banked turn it cuts the Predator engine off. Disconnect it!!

      Well, our trike is not what I hoped. They say that if a trike can't do 360 then it's a dud. Our turd can do 180 but not 360. Maybe next build will be much better and slightly redesigned.

      I was planning on making a front mounted 125cc trike but saw other folks videos who already copied similar design from Colin Furze channel. They were getting lots of criticism for stealing his idea and design. Also manual shifter engine is another hurdle I tried to avoid. Fully automatic is the way to go on these drift trikes.

    l recently built a similar drift trike with a 30 series torque converter. I find that any time I spin around backwards and the wheels roll backwards, the chain pops off. I think this is because the clutch isn't releasing fast enough for the belt to slip. Have you had any similar problems and if so what did you due to fix it? I know I can adjust the springs on the torque converter but haven't tried yet.

    HI. I am building a drift trike with a torque converter as well. Can you tell me please, did you buy a special shaft for your driven pulley to allow the sprocket to be on the outside of the shaft, rather than between the plate, and the fixed sheave? I have tried to do the same with mine, and my fixed sheave rubs against the mounting plate once reassembled. Thank you! Awesome build by the way!!

    • @balabay77
      @balabay77  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Chris L
      I believe I’ve welded a washer on the flat end of the original 5/8 bolt that came with the torque converter and re-assembled everything without and additional washers. Also, bought a thin nut 🔩 and used loctite to hold everything in place. I hole it makes sense. Basically the whole thing was jerry-rigged. Good luck with your build.

    • @teddyeach6790
      @teddyeach6790 Před 5 lety

      @@balabay77 Ahhh, ok. Now when I watch the first part of this video, I can see that you used a much thinner nut. Still a little confused about where exactly you welded this washer. My understanding is this...it was welded in the non-threaded end of the bolt, basically replacing the "C" clip that keeps the driven shaft from sliding out?

    • @balabay77
      @balabay77  Před 5 lety

      Chris L
      Bare with me and try to visualize it
      Take that 5/8 bolt and stand it up vertically than take a rectangular piece of metal just long enough to prevent the bolt from passing through the bearings. Now your 5/8 bolt is vertical securely placed in vice. Take that rectangular piece and place it on the flat or butt end of that bolt also vertically and weld on both sides of that rectangular piece. What you end up with is a T shaped bolt and it doesn’t go through the bearings. Like I said before this whole setup was jerry rigged but it worked. C clamps won’t be strong enough to hold everything together. Hopefully that makes sense.

      @teddyeach6790 Před 5 lety

Also, now that the belt is loose it doesn't stall the engine while rolling backwards. It's more forgiving at any speed and adjusts on its own.
