@ Janis Siegel; I’m a life long fan, not far behind you in age. You were alway my teen crush and I my worst days were brightened at the sound of you voice. Even at our age, I wish I could give you a big ole hug and just say thank you for a life of beautiful music and memories. I love you Janise!
Ms Siegel is intelligent, articulate and such a talented woman with class, thanks for all your wonderful work!
She's every bit as intelligent and articulate as you might expect from her performances. Great lady!
My transport company toured Manhattan Transfer back in the 70s. In UK, Europe and Scandinavia. Brilliant band. Brilliant music.really lovely people.
Love Manhattan Transfer!
Her Dad sang in the car. So do we, but we sing THEIR songs!
All Respect - the best vocal group ever - fantastic voices, performances, recordings and arrangements!
The boy from New York City and Chanson D' Amour. I loved that ones. Fortunally we've got CZcams and enjoy hearing both hits from time to time
Classy lady and a wonderful singer.
I FELL IN LOVE with The Manhattan Transfer from the age of 12, from the first time I heard their first album. I became their #1 fan from "Tuxedo Junction". Decades and 23 concerts later, they remain my absolute favorite group of all time. I love you Janis Siegel, and I love you sll!!♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Same here!!! My jazz band teacher showed us “Birdland” and had us play the song, and I was hooked. Age 12!
Janis Siegel is a legend and her work is wonderful.
Indeed 👍
Ms Siegel IS The Manhattan Transfer as far as I'm concerned! Ageless, timeless, beautiful & classy in every way!
Janis Siegel incredibile jazz voice ! 👍
She’s more talented than any old hippy ever could be
Janis is still pure love her voice so much x😎
A living legend and national treasure!
I was about to comment, "a damned national treasure." Glad someone beat me to it. :)
Agreed that was a delight to listen to
She is one of my greatest vocal influences ......this group has influenced so many groups and amazing vocalists since forever......there music is timeless - Janice was my crush when I was a young shy buck 🔥❤️
Janis is a musician extraordinaire ,classy and sultry in her own way ! Thank you for featuring her in your podcast / video. More success to your endeavors .
TY for uploading this. A wonderful singer, wonderful group. An interviewer who actually did his research, listened carefully to his subject, responded to her answers & didn't just tick boxes. An object lesson for many other so-called talk show hosts.
A real classy and very talented lady. I hope one day I can see her and the others live on stage.
Well, I had to wait 27 years, but then I had the chance. Unforgatable😊Love them since I was a teen!!😃
This boy .....uh okay... This older guy from the Bronx New York City. Still loves the sound of the New York Transfer. Fabulous group and sweet sound. Love to Janis. Buona Notte.
i love manthattan transfer, time for a come back.
Ms. Janis, you and Chaka Khan are my two favorite vocalists. I love your vocals on "You Can Depend On Me".
I love you janis siegel I love when you sing the boy from new York City it's something about your voice when you sing that song this song will always be in my heart ❤️
Wow! Janis really had a thing for that boy from New York City.
I was seven when that song came out and I've loved it ever since. Her voice was so powerful, soulful, and sexy. Even as a boy I was like "who is this woman singing" She's still as beautiful as ever.
Yeahhh!!! can't go wrong, with the Manhattan Transfer
Janis Siegel you are a treasure!
Thanks for all the beautiful music…really love Manhattan Transfer
My God, what a marvellous voice!
This chick is definitely a LEGEND along with the Manhattan Transfer group!
Still sharp! Brilliant career! Wonderful voice!! Love her
Gorgeous, sexy, bright and a great lady of music! Thanks for many memories, Janis.
One very talented special performer
....I'm so glad that MANHATTAN TRANSFER is still together. Janis Siegel LOVES singing. I'm a bit concerned that she might be stretched a bit thin with all of her involvements/engagements.
Saw the Transfer at Harrah's at Lake Tahoe mid 1970s...
Fabulous memory...
Janis is that wonderful combination of talent, kindness and genius. I admire her immensely both a solo artist and an integral member of The Manhattan Transfer. Their new album 50 sounds like it will be a gorgeous album and there is a new retrospective 5 album set coming out later this year. I have no association with the group of affiliates but I would encourage lovers of great music to consider buying their albums. They are a rare talent and 50 years equates to huge experience and incredible skills.
After Tim's departure, M.T. became very thin. There is no more expressiveness, beauty, strength, harmony. The new album is completely dull and uninteresting, unfortunately...
@@user-dw2xh7sh2i You are absolutely entitled to hold that position and I miss Tims vocals in their music. He had such a unique vocal tone and delivery. I still love the group though and enjoy The Junction. I like the live album Fifty but I do find the songlist choice rather disjointed. Some of the songs that come from The Junction do not differ enough from the original but I think Agua and God Only Knows are beautiful. It will be interesting when the 5 cd box set from concord will contain - no to be confused with the one that came out years ago. All the best to you.
One of our best singers!
What a beautiful voice and lovely lady ❤️
Great interviewing!
Janis, you might prefer the studio - and I know what you mean there- you can get into the details.
But I've seen MT live 6 or 7 times and I have to say you kick ass onstage too !
I did the same with guitar. When I was first learning there were no LHD guitars....so I had to play it right handed. Worked for me. Necessity......the Mother of Adaption 🤣👍🙏
Brilliant woman - this interview is such a treat and full of insights. Janis you’re a living treasure!
Agreed 100 %
Pure class.
She's too awesome.
Miss Janis Siegel my first LP record was "Extensions" at the age of 5. The music of Manhattan Transfer moulded me to be the artist that I am today, appreciative of harmonies and into intricate singing..
I do wish to see and meet you hopefully.
So I can have you sign my FIRST LP.
THANK YOU FOR sharing your talents to the world.Godbless!!!
Their rendition of Body and Soul is one of the all-time vocal group recordings, at least in my book.
Brilliant singer and great interview. Love "Midnight Sun".
Ahh. Just watched MT live in Tokyo (1986) on youtube, then this interview. It makes total sense how much she loves studio recording part. Even at the live, her chin had been fixed stationary at the mic, almost like in the recording studio. Fantastic interview to hear her insights and her world.
We should all check out the Bing Crosby classic, In the Car.
I have Birdland on my ipod. Still sounds great!
ВСЕГДА ВЕЛИКОЛЕПНА
Bonheur de voir Janis. Et plus encore de la voir en France,un jour. JM
love them
Got to love the TRANSFER
Ti adoro Janis
Great. This was done in April? Man, wow...
Great! Thank you…
LOVE Her
Obviously - we all get old.. But - when Janis was younger, she was one of the hottest women I've ever seen...
She's still beautiful
Incredibly crass comment.
I know that song, Midnight Sun. I have a version done by Diana Krall. Definitely a different kind of vocalist, but I agree that it is a fantastic song.
When you die and you go to the other side only thing you can take with you is some art some music and some memories she's in my backpack along with Manhattan Transfer
Obvious obviously my internet has been tapped and I don't know who's leaving messages in my name but I guess I can't even leave a comment in this Society
Ms Siegel was a baddie back in the day too 🥰
Still gorgeous Janice...
Top quality singer, Twilight Zone great stuff
Still 🔥🔥🔥❤️🔥🔥🔥
“ Route 66”
1965 James Madison High, Janis Siegel.
N.A.S.A. was in full swing to get to the moon and a young Janis was a budding talent.
A very special talent indeed. An American treasure.
Flagstaff Arizona more than 2,000 miles all the way.
I like her nails Janie Siegel 😍❤️
TONIGHT. Let's taste the spice of LIFE.
Janis was hot back in the day:)
Classic bad interview. It's all about the interviewer. Untimely interruptions and stupid comments. Janis is a musical Godess, which thankfully still comes through.
Did anyone else notice the cute light FLIRTING??? Lol.
I enjoyed hearing all the amazing things she has to say. However, I feel the interviewer could have been a little more clued in, done a bit more „research“ (which these days simply involves spending a little time online exploring) regarding Janis‘s music, legacy, the writers and performers etc.
She listened Sarah Vaughan’s version I bet!
I dont know Tony, but he is not doing Janis justice.
😎
Janis ...you are Americas Kate Bush
she was a hottie
personally they were never the same without laurel
Tony Guido?
LOL!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
This guy is in over his head interviewing Janis Siegel.
Whoever you are you win so I'll get off the internet for Good by letting my phone go cry go empty and I'll use those the internet at the library but I hate the idea that I won't be able to make a comment no more
Sister moon the song for the cosmic consciousness of the feminine...
И
Trist Ethan Curless although it is a "bass", it does not pull the base notes to the desired tonality, power and expressiveness. I have to say that he is a pretty mediocre performer and Manhattan Transfer is not his place. They (M. T.) have not found a replacement for Tim. It's pathetic...
