      @ׂ From personal experience, especially based on the service i had in the Danish military during- and after 9/11, I would have shot that man if he had layed hands on a Danish military person violently. Being at the Royal Danish Palace or anywhere else in Denmark.

    My dad was a personal guard to the old king. We loved to go to the palace and see where he used “to work”. I particularly remember him telling us that the king would sneak off from a royal dinner or such and grab a smoke with his guards in the hallways. My dad said the king was very down to earth and seemed more comfortable when casual. I asked my dad once how he became guard to the king, he replied “I was tall and handsome”, lol, but he was.

    At the 1:00 mark, the guard in the small blue cap, he was not on guard with the others, he would have come out with his rifle slung like that, because something happened. So yes, as someone else noted, if the police had not taken the guy down, he might have gone down another way.

      I think that you dont know that the royal guards are elites, they are very professional but they have to keep their roles, they are far more specialiesed at protecting the quen. With that being said you are also right, the guard did peotect them, since the royal guards cant get out of role, but believe me they can protect themselves far better then the guard.

    For all those saying they would have shot the man you need to remember that one of the most important aspects of potentially lethal force is the backstop. You might have noticed the large crowd, it would be too easy to send a round straight into it from their position. Non-lethal was definitely the right answer here in my opinion. What does anyone else think?

      Police officer actually :) It's a tradition here in Denmark, when a police officer is getting older, they start to keep an eye on the Queens palace (now renamed the Kings palace). 2024.

    I was actually at the place shown in the video last year, at one point I was looking at one of the guards and just randomly decided to salute him, to my amazement the guy actually returned my salute, awesome guy and a lovely country!

      in 1963 I was walking down the streeet in uniform, where the lifeguard marched to the castle. We had been tol that should we meet them we had to front them, and salute. I did, and my salute was returned by the captain leadinf the guard detail. He lowered his sabre!!

      @@michaelyakson9953 Yes, and its not unheard of that they use them to fire warning shots. I don't think they have actually ever shot anyone. They are fully trained military. If they are considered good enough they get offered the chance to be a guard here for 6 months (or something like that). Its a massive honor in Denmark.

    Don't let the uniform fool you. They are not just there for looking good on postcards and tourist pictures.
    Every guard carries a fully loaded M95 rifle ( Colts M16A4) and is very capable of defending himself if the need should be.
    These guys are the to protect our Queen and the palace, like the Royal guards do it at Buckingham Palace.
    Don't fuck around with them they only do their job...and they're good at it.

      Oh, I don't know ... jeg ved nu ikke helt. Jeg er AUG 2002, og allerede min årgang var lettere rygradsløs. Ikke så meget fordi vi var bange for lidt karambolage (vi var sidste VTKMP-årgang med M/75, og sligt GV ku' gi' kolbeslag der ville noget), men fordi den efterfølgende opgejling af støvler, taske og sabelskede ville tage yderligere 100 år. Så hellere lade panserne om det; de er - ironisk nok - langt bedre påklædt.

      @Elite Shots At least the British Queen's Guards are actually clad for the task, even when in ceremonial uniform. Do you see a redcoat prance around with a useless sword and a (until recently) useless leather bag? No. They carry exactly what they need; rifle and themselves.

      @@TheCoolCucumber You can find swords alongside any military personnal in Europe, when they wear ceremonial or traditional guard uniform to guard or patrol an important place. Sword or more like sabre, either on horse or on foot.

    Why didn't the Guards react? I was in the German Guard battalion, as we were standing guard at the guard house in Berlin during the memorial day some dude threw rocks at us, the officer charged at the attacker and took him down til the standing around soldiers like me and later the police arrested him, then he marched back to his Guards, how it should be.

    The guards at the royal palaces in Denmark are by tradition conscripts. They go through the same training as the conscripts in all other Danish regiments but in half the time, and that includes training for their guards duties. That's why the regiment is notoriously disciplined and the training hard. After 4.5 months of training as infantry soldiers, they move to barracks in Copenhagen, where they serve as guardsmen to the royal family. In that time, they spend a week every month with continued training as infantry soldiers, at some training facility elsewhere in Denmark.

      We are not, we are trained to deal with threats with shooting being the absolute last option, we do a lot of combat training to learn to subdue opponents before ever using our rifle

      @@PrivateMarcus that’s right, but how do they know if he’s unarmed? i’m almost certain they’re allowed to shoot when the man is carrying a bag, there could easily be a bomb in there for all they know, i just think they don’t wanna do anything unnecessary like shooting him since there’s children around who could be traumatized by something like that, in my honest opinion a place like this needs more rules, and should be treated less like a tourist attraction

Tror mig når en Garder råber personer an.. Så flytter de sig normalt. Der er huller i væggen fra Tyskerns overfald på Amalienborg i 1940. Tyskerne kom aldrig ind og Garden holdt dem væk. Plus jeg håber ikke du mener Tin soldater i forhold til de soldater der har deltaget i missioner i udlandet.... Hilsen en gammel Garder.
