I’m curious to know what your shutter speed was and were you shooting wide open or did you stop down to maybe f3.2 or so. I shot a show recently for the first time and realized that my shutter peed was way to slow. I used a flash with light done which helped zoomed in (closer than most non photographers would zoom) I noticed some blurring. Slight oversight on my part but definitely a good experience.

With flash you need to be shooting at least 1/125 shutter speed. For movement in general 1/125 is a safe bet if their not moving really fast.

Your right about all the above. I hate doing them now. I did it twice. If you want lookbook work reach out to the Designers afternoon before show to work with them. They have no time the day of the show. Models you can mix and mingle without being responsible for shooting the entire event. It's like working for free in hopes you can network. It's better to call a publication so you can say you worked for so and so. Networking can be down without 3 hrs of shooting and 6hrs of cropping and straightening of photos.

Exactly. The designers are too busy during the event to talk but you can always find little moments to just connect with them. Even DM them afterwards to send them pics you took of their line could be beneficial. Bro it should not take you 6 hours to go through and edit a fashion show! lol.

    Hey mate,
I will be shooting the ramp first time ever the coming Saturday, and yeah, with a 50mm f1.8. Duhh, I can feel, how badly I will be screwed if the model stops in a distance which is beyond my reach.. :'(
Well, just wanted to check, if you can visit my instagram handles and share your feedbacks on scope of imporvements:
