Bay Bridge Crossing, 2008

Windshield video of an eastbound crossing on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge in December 2008. Part of Interstate 80, the Bay Bridge carries roughly 270,000 vehicles per day. A new eastern span, located after the Yerba Buena/Treasure Island tunnel, is currently under construction. The new Bay Bridge eastern span should be open by 2012, after which the cantilevered portion shown in this video will be dismantled. (Soundtrack music: "Barnowl," by Caribou.)
