I'm a native English speaker from the U.S., but I really enjoy these sorts of videos. I'd never heard happy as Larry. It definitely sounds like something from Australia or the UK. :)

At the end of the day, I wrapped my head around why it is hella fundamental to use more expression about emotion or feeling, so I'm flying high for learning new and come in handy phrases to use from now on. So thank you ever so much, Emma, for bringing about lessons like this. That's much appreciated.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the new lesson, Oscar! Did you learn any new idioms in this week's lesson? Do you have a favourite? 🤩
Simply awesome... Love it!
Yay!
Hi Emma,
This lesson i played the most and every idiom is so practical and useful in many ways.
I like to share a real story with using few of the idioms i learned here.
Every year the school's annual concert consists of a wide variety of great performances by each grade students. Usually the students would sing, dance and some put up plays. That year my daughter's class had prepared a series of magic shows which she was exceptionally thrilled and even as happy as Larry when she was selected to be the one doing a rather important task in a transportation magic.
She was being the soul of discretion and never spilled the details of the performance as she had signed the disclosure clause and she meant it. That also made us more looking forward to her show and know no more than the other audiences.
She was in a team of six, all were girls. First few minutes they worked hastily together to place a huge wooden box on the sweeping stage with a short flight of staircase against it. After she raised her hand to indicate her move was next, she walked with professional pace up the staircase then descended herself into the box which was near to chest high when she stood. Another down and up, she was already inside a sage she helped herself inside. Her other teammates then tightened her hands to the front with a rope and sealed the opening over her head with another rope. Every tool was professional standard and breathtaking and I was quite carried away. When they further closed and locked the lid with a big padlock that instantly gave me the heebee jeebee. From entertaining now I felt torturing, suffocating and was hopelessly helpless as if i was the one being trapped inside. When the other girl went up and stood on top of the box, that was the last straw. That was easily more than a minute, i recalled her breathe holding underwater was hardly 20 seconds. I was so close to yell out for a stop. Before I could make any useful move, the entire box and the girl on top was curtained by a black cloth around. That was sufficient to produce a murder. I was at the end of my tether, i had to save her now. In that very moment, the curtain was dropping to floor and the one on top of the box was the familiar, was her, my lovely daughter. The mood changed like a turn of a switch. I was over the moon knowing that she was back.
It turns out that they were that best performance of the entire show and was even highly praised by many parents i overheard when we were leaving the auditorium.
I love the way you australians are more liberate in your way of express your selfs!
In 1995 i worked on two different farms in Bruce Rock n W.A and in Colac in Victoria! I learnt a lot of slang......... The language is so important! I am a Christian and the bible teach us clearly to be very careful with Words! Good bless you Emma

Dear Emma, many thanks für this lesson with the idioms about feelings and the very instructive worksheet. For me, it’s the best way to learn these. I can tell you, some idioms are similar to the ones we have in German, for example: over the moon (über dem Mond), heavy hearth (schweres Herz), jump out of the skin ( aus der Haut fahren), make the stomach turn (dreht den Magen um)
I love learning new idioms. This video was for me

Today it was the seventh day in a row without rain in Belgium. Normally, I'm as happy as Larry to spend the summer here, it is lovely; not to hot, a lot of green, the most beautiful, precious clouds you've ever seen. But not this summer. It had already started bad, with the war in Ukraine. Who didn't have a heavy heart ot get the heebie-jeebies seeing the news? But it wasn't enough. To add on, the draught have been spreading in all Europe. I was almost at the end of my tether. Imagine my surprise this evening when, out of the blue, it started raining! I did a double-take and still do it every ten minutes cause the miracle continues...It is raining still. What a wonderful evening! Thank you Universe, thank you Lord!
great lessons !!! Thanks a million !
