The WNBA line is 2.5 feet closer. It's a glorified mid range shot. In game or in contest she's not even close to the average NBA player.
This is actually a record that won’t be broken. Insane.
Actually, someone will do 26 or 27 one day, so yes, it is very complicated but this record will be broken at one point.
Steph Curry made 105 3s in a row while practicing (although all from the same spot). There is a video of it on CZcams. I think he is quite capable of doing better, but he also might not be in future 3 point contests.
The only way to guarantee it is unbreakable would be to make them all. There are shooters who can make them all, but with minimal 3 point contest occurrences it is still possible that it won't be broken. If 3 point contests happened with more frequency I think it would be likely that someone would break it.
In practice, maybe yes. In a formal contest like this, only robots can break this record
Records are made to be broken.
It will be broken when someone is perfect
This is major for the WNBA. This is literally what they need. Congrats Ionescu!
they need a dunk contest
@@liudizzle 🤣🤣🤣
it would have been better if the media could stop bringing NBA's name like its the same game. its good to see and made me watch but the 3pt line is closer and the ball is a lot smaller/lighter. saying she beat the NBA record is the same as me hitting 30 layups and says i beat the wnba 3 point contest record.
@@s7vengaming965 so you're saying if Curry shot in a WNBA court with an WNBA ball, in a 3 point contest....he would only miss once or not at all?
@@liudizzle No. They need to lower the net by 2 feet first. Then have a dunk contest.
Don't care if it's NBA or WNBA or any other league, making 25 of 27 long range shot is amazing, and in a pressure moment to win the contest.

I'm not one to diminish this amazing feat at all; Amazing player, and what a moment. But I'm not sure the NBA record needs to be considered here. The 3 pt line is a couple feet shorter, and the ball is smaller, which are major factors in this. It certainly is amazing and an all-time wnba moment, but to compare it against bird's contest... I guess it's up for debate but having an additional 2 feet and whatever circumference on the ball makes things different.
Congrats on a dope win Sab.
the circumference of the Ball is a inch smaller but an average females hand is about an inch smaller than a males Soo it kinda makes sense to me but just my opinion 🤷🤷
@@countyboy3988 It totally make sense for sure! But the rim isn't any smaller, so shots can be slightly more off and still go in is all I'm saying.
@@matthewbrown6397 oh I agree I just don't like comparing the two but I don't watch NBA WNBA or any pro sports really anymore typically because they all have their hidden agendas lol plus it's just getting way too predictable in my opinion 🤷🤷
@@countyboy3988 I don't like comparing them either, which is what they've done in this article, which is my original point, they're not the same, and that's both fine and a good thing Sab killed it, but this doesn't break the NBA record.
All though very impressive shooting, it should be noted that the WNBA 3 Point line is closer in distance than the NBA 3 Point line. Pointing that fact out is important if you're going to state she broke the WNBA record AND the NBA record.
People who point it out will be called misogynist's, racist's and bigot's 😆
Technically its all the same. Men have bigger hands, so bigger ball size. It wouldn’t make sense for women to use the same size as us, it would be physically impossible for them to dribble and have handles, let alone shoot the ball… the 3 point line is close for them because they’re shorter than most men, so it wouldn’t make the game make a lot of sense for them if we implemented the same things. There would be less 3 pointers than what there already is in the wnba…. Not to mention she just challenged Steph Curry to a 3 point contest. She used the ball that they use in the wnba but she shot the 3 pointers from the same distance the nba has it & she was still able to put up more points that some of the nba players in the 3 point contest this year
Do short men with small hands get to shoot3 feet closer with a smaller hand against guys like KD and Klay? No they don’t. And they don’t get to and claim nba records. Your logic is lacking
@@collincris739 you say my logic is lacking but yours is too, yeah they’re short players with short hands but those short players with small hands are bigger than the average tall women player in the wnba… imagine having to adapt to a new distance in your 3 pointers and doing very well at it, I’m not saying she’s better than curry or nba players but I do give credit where is due and she went off against curry
20 threes in a row is UNREAL!!🙆🏾♂️

She deserved a ton of praise, but thanks for someone finally saying it! Thought I'd have to be the first. The size ball is different and the 3 point line distance is different so to compare it to NBA is dumb
It’s clearly not an nba , but was impressive to see her doing that , to make 25/27 it’s just absurd no matter them rules

The official size of the basketball used by the NBA is 29.5 inches in circumference. That's the same size used throughout men's college and high school basketball leagues. The WNBA uses a slightly smaller ball, measuring 28.5 inches in circumference.
