    What I love with traditionnal music is that it's never quite the same. Everyone has their own adjustment, little tricky sound, and way of moving through the music.

    I'm a musician and Irish dancer from Dublin, and have heard dancers dance to this song for years. I was looking around CZcams to see how people play it, and NOBODY else I found plays it with a swing like this, which is how it's supposed to be played. Either all the notes are somehow wrong, or it's all straight 8th notes and has no hornpipe feel. I loved this, and your rendition of The Butterfly slip jig. Thank you from Dublin!

    Beautiful! Thank you, sir. Love the grace-notes and ornamentation. Many years ago, I heard a 4-man group sing lyrics to this melody. Might have been "The King's Singers"? " I wish I was, I wish I was, a child again, to walk and wander in the lovely Fairy Glen"...

  • @JakDivinci
    @JakDivinci Před 2 lety +21

    My first interaction with this song is from a game called Morrowind. The song came from a mod someone made back in 2005-2008... a huge castle with Nordic/Irish mythos tied to the few quests involved with it.
    It plays in a dockside tavern, with a talking fish that begins "Drunken Sailor" if you ask it to. But I always remember "King of the Fairies" because I had to request it from the band that was playing in that tavern.
    All aside, I completely forgot about "peakfiddler" around 2013, and just now decided to search for "King of the Fairies." Boom. It's there right here, with a tab I can play on my mandolin. So much love from the Aspect of Music, my friend. Also so good to see this channel still kicking.
