The Cold War lasted a LOOONG time. During that time, a whole lot of really smart people put a lot of effort into designing weapons specifically to defeat Russia. Now, we're seeing the results of that 70+ year effort.

Another key difference is training and command structure and tradition. May sound trite, until you consider that within various battlefield ranks, much latitude is given to soldiers, Marines and airmen to spot weaknesses in enemy forces or better position for US assets and EXPLOIT THOSE. Russian military are taught to obey senior command and not operate without specific orders from say company or higher command. Initiative outside command is not a feature Russian, or Soviet, or Imperial Romanov forces, exercise.

We have very smart hardworking people dedicated to create these items but at the same time innovating for other manufacturing processes, improving energy, healthcare, and general safety. So as we contribute to a strong military we also contribute to a better world overall. It's extremely rewarding. You'd be surprised with how many small companies and start ups try to enter this industry to improve many things and get the slice of the profits.. even right from their garage.

Honestly, the fact some of these weapons are working so well for the Ukes, is that our military designed them specifically to counter armor and technology that we thought Russia had during the Cold War. An absolute MASSIVE amount of our military technology up until the 90's was developed to counter Russian counterparts, because we were under the impression they posed such a huge threat. It turns out, they pocketed most of the funds for their military while we were pumping trillions of dollars into ours. The only reason we haven't run over Russia entirely is because of its nukes. In all likelihood, most of their nuclear weapons don't even work, while we've been expanding on our delivery systems. (And for good reason, no one really wants to resort to that).

It’s the main thing I hear UK and Canadian citizens complain about when it comes to the US. But they don’t realize if the US didn’t spend as much money as it does on our military...they wouldn’t have free health care either. Their own countries would have to spend that money on their own military.

One of Tom Clancy's later books pitched a scenario where Russia became friendly with the West, and an aggressive China invaded Siberia to gain its natural resources. The US came to Russia's aid and during the climactic battle a Russian general, witnessing the US military at work against the Chinese, turned to his colleague and said "and we thought we could beat the Americans?" This is that moment come to life.
The problem is that while Russia's military is a joke, its nuclear arsenal isn't. Even if it's only 1% effective, that's still 60 thermo nuclear warheads.

    Stingers are anti air
American made rpg are for ground vehicles
The javelin is the smartest of the bombs and can attack both but its much more expansive.

This is why the US has such a high defense spending budget. Literally all our money goes to protecting our soldiers and other military assets.
Survivability is a hard lesson we learned in our conflicts abroad. If we cut spending now, our next conflict will see a lot more of our soldiers coming home under flags.

The Javelin is manufactured about 2 hours drive from where I live. Interestingly, it has a concurrent initiation and similar configuration to Her Majesty's RAF anti-tank Brimstone missile. I wonder who gave who the idea. Probably East to West.
I am surprised to note the continued service of Stinger, as it was not brand new when I swore into The Army 38 years ago. Must be pretty good.
The Ukrainian HIMAR wooden decoys is priceless as a tactic and as an homage to UK's stationing of US General Patton's balloon fake tank corps to deceive The Luftwaffe's reconnaissance in facilitation of D-Day.
History does not repeat itself. It stands stock still.

Like many other US weapons, the Stinger used today has received many upgrades over the years. Even the modern version of the M1 Abrams is a radically different beast (on the inside) compared to the versions used in the the Gulf wars.

The Germans were among the first to pioneer modern combined arms fighting in WW2 much to the dismay of large parts of Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Smart countries paid attention and learned how to replicate those early military wins, as well as how to counter them. Other countries sat back and rested on their nuclear stockpiles.

Another thing to add about the himars, we've only been giving them missiles with limited range, 92 km or 57 miles. We have ones that go 300 km, 186.4 miles, and are just as accurate while ones with 500 km, 310.7 miles, range are currently in development

And I’m an American saying this. We appreciate all the help our allies give to aid Ukraine. Ukraine will win if we all NATO countries (and others)work together.
