- Estonia is another country that has never selected its entry internally, not even in 2021. Ever since they made their debut as the first Baltic nation in Kvalifikacija za Millstreet 1993, the national final formats Eurolaul and later Eesti Laul determined which song got to represent them. With this video, I want to give you a quick recap of all the songs that finished second and therefore almost made it to the Eurovision stage!
- Hudba
Uku literally won in the wrong years. Pretty Little Lair is so much better than both of his Eurovision entries
He didnt deserve to win any of these years based on song or vocals... He couldnt hit the notes in Pretty Little Liar
2022 is such a vibe.... Wanted them in Eurovision so badly
Eesti Laul from 2009 to 2017 is top tier Nobody was doing it like them, the originality of he songs.. damn
Kerli 2017 - My love! ♥
Laura should’ve went with ”Supersonic”. Such a beautiful song❤
Agree. And with Moonwalk too
Mina jään is a MASTERPIECE, probably one of the best songs i've ever heard ❤
Wow. Kerli in 2004 was a shocker
Ollie, forever in my heart 😭
Yeah, I'm still crying. My hopes are on 2024. I'm waiting.
Still hoping for Kerli to come back one day :(
She tried twice and both times she got 2nd place. I really hope she tries again! i think now she's more involved in being a jury for Eesti Laul
Love your videos
You spend surely hours to create these.
Congrats
Heartbroken for Iseendale, Rapunzel, Mina jään, Ice-Cold Story, Päästke noored hinged, Burning Lights, Supersonic and Spirit Animal 💔 they all would've done much better than their current entries and it seems like Estonia doesn't want to be indie and risky and is selecting random pop 😩
Vee ja soola saaga is just magical and SUPERIOR✨
Do Slovenia next. Tons of masterpieces there
They hardly ever choose the right song.
i'm planning to do countries that had NFs in 2023 first, so it's gonna take a while until i get to slovenia. but hopefully soon!
@@kjESCil finish the baltics
@@TrollFog soon #lietuvalietuvalietuva
Traffic really had some great entries... Didnt know the 2009 one... But in 2014 i wish they had actually won or Sandra Nurmsaalu.
Not the biggest Laura fan but she deserved to win 2016
Estonia has the amazing ability to place the song with the most potential second and choose something much inferior instead. Venom, Magus melanhoolia (3rd), Beautiful Lie, Spirit Animal, Supersonic, Rapunzel... They have done it way too many times at this point. All of these songs would have been in my top 10 for their respective years.
Should have sent all between 2019 and 2023
Yes minus maybe 2023
Ollieeee🥺❤❤
I’m glad Estonia sent Getter in 2011
Lol
Iseendale will forever be robbed.
I can't believe Sissi did better with Time than with Lighthouse...
Ūkų winning in the wrong year.
Justice for venom…and Alabama watchdog from 2021 is One of the best ever
Has Stig Rasta been in every Estonian band in Eesti Laul history lol
Alot of the great songs dont even place 2nd im Eesti Laul 😭
i don't hate their song this year but i liked Ollie waaaay more
I still didn't forgive Estonia for not sending Kerli to Eurovision in 2017 and Lenna in 2010 😢
Btw Alika is amazing, and Bridges is a nice song. Good luck, Estonia 🇪🇪❤️
I've only started following National Finals since last year but I'm actually (very slowly) going through older eesti lauls because I've heard that (especially in the early-mid 2010s) there's some really good stuff in there. 2009 I really like even if Urban Symphony was very much the right choice, 2010 I also like even tho I like Siren more, I Wanna Meet Bob Dylan is also really good despite it's competition being THE Rockafeller Street, I actually went through Eesti Laul 2012 in full and there was several I liked better than Kuula, Mina Jaan included (Oblivion and The Destination being my favorites), I do like What to Make of This better than Hope and I'm really glad it got that far but Hope was the right choice for the contest. Several more after that were better than what they DID send (2017, 2020, 2021, 2023 (do like Bridges tho)). Also if Uku had to win any year it was defiantly 2019.
That's not even taking into consideration when it was EUROLAUL, Beautiful Inside slaps hard and anything in 08 had to be better than their actual entry lmao.
(sorry for the long comment pfpfpf)
still feel sad for jaagup in 2020 and (not shown in this vid but eh) jüri in 2021 tbh
Sissi slayed in 2021
Not only her though that year
Whatever happened in 2004 is a disaster. How on earth did the voters think in 2004 that the one they selected was any way better?
2004 "Tii"("Road") was pure crap! Usually, the more people(6) on stage: the worse the result! 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 were just terrible years for Estonia...
In general the second place is better than the winner specially if they in Estonian.
i will never forgive estonia for treating kerli that way
100% agree! Kerli Kõiv is a legend!
Jaguup Tuisk 😭😭😭
not sending supersonic.. or Venom huge misstake
i will never get over home by stig rästa and time by sissi
2023 😍
1998: Evelin Samuel would have been a much better choice than the crappy Koit Toome! Fortunately, she won the 1999 Estonian final! *** 2002 "Another country song" was actually very good! However, Sahlene was even better(and prettier)! *** 2005 Laura's solo song "Moonwalk" was sooooooo much better than the girl band song "Let's Get Loud" big in ESC.
2004 was just criminal. That song had everything: it was such high production value, the lyrics were strong, the voice was strong, back then very on-trend. Instead a bunch of incapable women that resembled a drunk-fest were sent.
2004 "Tii" was a terrible song. This ethno stuff is definitely not for me! Actually, 2024 is just as terrible...
Another country song Estonia song? Omg.
Do for the netherlands
Often many great alternative original songs in their NFs…But Something boring generic mainstream winning
In both 2012 and 2013 they only had 1 bad songs out of20. Of course…..those songs went to esc
2012 got 6th in the eurovision final, i dont think others thought it was a bad song
Iseendale
Rapunzel
Mina jään
Päästke noored hinged
Burning Lights
Spirit Animal
What to Make of This
Venom
All are great.
Ollie was my winner this year
My opinion about songs:
1993: Way better than the song with which she was chosen
1994: Better than the winner
1996: Winner is slightly better, but both are good
1997: Sligthly better than winner, but both are very good
1998: Winner is better
1999: Winner is better
2000: Winner is better
2001: Better than the winner
2002: Winner is better
2003: Winner is better, but both are good
2004: Way better than the winner
2005: Would've been a million times better than Suntribe! Still don't understand how they won over this beautiful song, but Let's Get Loud is probably my least favourite Estonian entry
2006: Better than the winner
2007: Better than the winner(However, I like the winner too)
2008: Way better than the winner
2009: Omg, both are masterpieces!
2010: 💀
Winner is slightly better
2011: Better than the winner
2012: Kinda annoying. Winner is way better
2013: Both are good, but I prefer the winner a bit more
2014: Way better than the winner
2015: Sounds good actually, but Goodbye To Yesterday is such a masterpiece! So almost no one can compete with that
2016: Way better than the winner
2017: Here you can see if Estonia was Sweden... Winner is way better
2018: Both are masterpieces!
2019: Better than the winner, and way better than both his songs from 2020 and 2021
2020: Way better than the winner(I actually really want him to represent Estonia one day!)
2021: Slightly better than the winner. Although Jüri Pootsmann was way better than both of them(Even if his vocals weren't perfect)
2022: Surprised how that song got 2nd place, tbh😳 They had a lot of better songs. Winner is way better ofc
2023: Way better than the winner! I still can't forgive Estonia for such a biggest robbery! I mean, Alika is good too, but I don't get what's so special about Bridges. Ollie❤
Years I wanted the runner-up to win our NF the most are 2005, 2008 and 2023... Btw, in 2005, the winning song and the runner-up were from the same author, I actually think that probably he wasn't very happy about the outcome either. Moonwalk was amazing.
@@silencestation557 I wanted Ollie so bad this year. However, Alika got a really great result for Estonia this year(Elina Nechayeva's place). I was afraid that the juries wouldn't appreciate her just like Poland last year. And I still don't understand why the juries didn't vote for Poland last year... + the juries usually underrate small Eastern European countries
2014, 2017, 2020, 2021, 2023 all are better than the winners. Some others like 2022 were also good asl but the right song won
Uku 2019 was sooo good
It was ok
will never understand how beautiful lie didnt win icl
I love "I Wanna Meet Bob Dylan" so much
Eww
Ollie🤧. My heart's still bleeding. If only Sissi was in the SF, not Bedwetters, Ollie would get way more votes. Such a shame, such a shame
I really like Alika's song but Ollie had the best song imo, and it was brutally killed by a dreadful camera director who made the performance look messy
I think that the reason why Ollie didn't win is that Bedwetters were olso in the superfinal so votes were spread beetween two rock songs and Alika
@@gracjanmedryga5276Alika won the televote in the final too so I don't think so
I'm still sooooo disappointed that Ollie isn't going to Eurovision. Estonia missed the opportunity for something bigger
2004-2008 were all better than the actual winners lol
1993 might have tried to make the final, 1994 would have done better than two points, but Silvi was the right choice. 1997 may have done top 10 but Maarja was better. 1998 could have been top 5 in Birmingham and 1999 a possible winner! 2002 would have been interesting. Very good novelty pop song. 2004 is like Avril Lavigne. I think she would have made the final and this sound was in. Ines should have had another chance in 2006. Iiris would have been a finalist in 2008 than that awful joke. Lenna would have a top 10 in 2010. Very much a televote magnet song and mainstream. 2012 is very good, but Ott was the right choice. Grete would have been top 15 in 2013. Laura should have gone in 2005 and 2016. Kerli in 2017 would have done better than Laura / Koit. Uku was better in 2019 than 20/21. 2020 is a cheap copy of 'Arcade'. Sissi would have been a top 15 in 2021. Great song and live performer. Stefan was the right choice last year and yes Ollie should have got the choice this year.
Ollie>>>>>>>>>>>>Alika
Agree
Disagree
evelin samuel the mother you are
Mostly unremarkable songs, especially in the eurolaul era. Letting other countries select your entry in the competition is a stupid move because they will choose weaker entries so they can fare better in the competition
