In today's guitar tutorial we learn how to play "Standing On the Moon" by Grateful Dead, a beautiful song off of their last album, Built To Last. With only a handful of chords, this song is accessible for any level and is a great chance to work on your rhythm and groove since the song is a slow ballad.

The song is simple but difficult at the same time haha. Most of Jerry’s guitar parts are very difficult to learn. It’s nice he wrote more simple yet powerful song like this. Goes to show it doesn’t have to be intricate to be great. Thanks for the lesson.

Thanks for this lesson, Mitchell... I've always loved this song and as a relatively beginner-ish guitarist I appreciate your encouragement to give it a go... Also, I'm amazed by the concept of playing and singing together - and you do a fantastic job with this - a song that I've always thought seems to be tricky, even just from the standpoint of singing along with it...

My pleasure, Scott. I’m glad I could spark some motivation. Thank you for the kind words! I have worked hard with singing and playing simultaneously, and it’s a song like this where I needed every bit of previous effort to pull off :)
