I guarantee that if you have stick legs, you're not breaking a bat, no matter how much you strengthen your arms

My guesses are that either he wanted to get his team going and a single wouldn't cut it since he's a slow baserunner, or that he was trying to get out of a slump and he still didn't feel comfortable with his hit. It's never a good feeling when you can't get your timing right
