BILTMORE ESTATE Conservatory Tour - Ep. 371

- Ten years ago I got to visit @Biltmore for the first time-and the conservatory in particular left SUCH an impression on me, as I felt it was one of the most beautiful conservatories I had ever laid eyes on. I met up with Todd Roy, Conservatory Horticulturist, before the opening so that we could give you a full-fledged tour (minus the orchid house, which will be for another episode). Todd's background is in both art and horticulture, which he uses to create artistic (and lush!) displays throughout.
We will tour the historic outdoor gardens as well, which will be shown on our sister channel @FlockFingerLakes -so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Ylang-ylang tree, we used to have several of those trees in our backyard back in the 60s. Huge trees. My grandfather gave those trees to his daughters and daughter in law, my mom. The flowers were being sold since time immemorial here in the Philippines because it is used as a garland strewn together with arabian jasmine and those leis are used for religious purposes. How ever much ylang ylang flowers were sold, the proceed goes to whose daughter owns the tree that the flowers were harvested from. It's a very fragrant flower and our town used to be filled with them. There was a saying then that you know you're already in San Pedro if the wind smells like Ylang-ylang.
I can only imagine how beautiful it smelled like.
@@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep it's an elegant floral scent like an old world feminine scent. Eveytime I get a hold of this flower which is rare now in some places, it hits me with strong nostalgic memories of childhood. There is something about a scent thay stirs the memories long forgotten.
@@kristineflores7998 I grow the jasmine sambac and it's one of my favorite scents but yang yang is impossible to grow indoors haha I hope one day to smell it.
I have one growing. Love the green color flower and nice smell at night
I admire how you know the names of these plants. Such a beautiful place I’d love to visit one day. The care that is given by the caretaker is such a love and skill that makes for such beauty.
Beautiful place, Summer! 🤩 Thank you for taking us along 💚
Beautiful Conservatory reflects the dedication of the employee.
Thank you for taking us on these visits. I'd never have seen these gardens if not for your show.
Oh, I live this place!!! I am in heaven when I go there. So cool you did a video here! Gonna use my annual pass and go next week! Thanks for reminding me!!
Thanks for a wonderful tour of Biltmore, Summer, Todd and I imagine Sander was filming so well.
That is a beautiful conservatory, love the fullness great variety of plants, thanks for sharing!!!
Omg it's heaven.... I dream work in a place like this
Many years ago the display was just okay, but this is truly spectacular. Great work!
That dude seems like a great human being. A true steward of the garden.
I can't believe how amazing Todd is. He knows every detail about every plant. Also I like the fact that he is not only knowledgeable about plants but he also enjoys the design aspect of it. Thank you Todd and Summer. 🙏PS. I think at 08.42 the plant on the floor is not a selloum but a xanadu (Thaumatophyllum xanadu). 08.53 is selloum I guess.
Stunning display, love the packed look!
So wonderful to hear two knowledgeable people talk about plants,❤️
I have never seen such a beautiful place in my life, not even Australia.😮
This garden is brilliant 😍
God's amazing creations!! Thank you for sharing 🙌🌿💚

Back in my town! Yay! Asheville is the best! ❤️
Absolutely stunning! I can't even imagine how wonderful it must have smelt in there. How does Todd (as well as you Summer) remember so many plant names?!
Thanks for a wonderful wonderful video today. You did a great job shooting at sharing this beautiful estate and his beautiful greenhouse and how they take care of all the beautiful plant. Hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy, and Debbie always enjoy coming by and seeing what you all have to share hugs and kisses from grandma, Sandy and Debbie.
Amazing, beautiful and stunning walk in heaven 😍. Thank you for sharing
What a heaven garden!😍❤
This is so inspiring! Saw some plants from the Philippines! Thank you for sharing this! 💚🙏
I've been twice, spring and fall and I would love to see Christmas some day.
just adding this to my list of conservatories to visit...💛
Love the tours, so inspiring!
So packed with plants. Wonderful.
Always waiting for your videos!! ❤
I was so happy to see this video! Finally a tour that is in my neck of the woods. Visit Asheville at least once a year and usually in Mar/Apr But did go once about End of Apr but the weather has not cooperated! So the green houses were always closed. Only once did they have some plants outside to buy. I bought my first and only lace leaf japanese maple tree from there. It now lives in my front yard & is about 6 ft tall. (I need to start training/shaping it)
This year we are going at the end of June so I hope get inside this time!
Thank you for visiting and Im off to watch the orchid video!
Simply stunning work of art with plants
So very beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Most beautifull conservatory indeed Summer rayne! Thank you so much for bringing us along in this amazing tour❤
Thank you for this amazing tour. Ive been to Biltmore a few times but not recently and its even more exciting than I remember. Very much looking forward to the orchid tour. ❤😊
How to visit, i have to fly
Love this place I highly recommended it ❤️I was very impressed last year when I visit. Thank You for this great video !
Love this!
Glorious
Oh! fantastic!
What a beautiful conservatory.
Summer Rayne Oaks you find the nearest places.
Thank you
This is the best The conservatory has every looked! Great job❤
Amazing gorgeous !!!
Stunning! Thanks for this outstanding tour with an outstanding host. He really knows his stuff and I am impressed with his relaxed disposition. I'd say a Cornell Hort Grad can touch any plants she wants...I do!...x♥
Merci Summer.
Now I need a Biltmore trip
Absolutely spectacular! I like the idea of keeping the plants in pots, and just arranging or putting everything together to bring fullness in a garden. It would be good to put in a spot among perennials for a pop of color, without taking up a lot of room. I may try that with annuals this year in my garden. Thank you, Summer and Todd for the lovely tour!
Wow just wow what a beautiful place. I am amazed by the low view count on this video. I have never seen such a beautiful starlight I have it earlier but it died. I will buy it again for sure.
Beautiful, colorful and very interesting. Everything was so creatively arranged that you feel like just looking at it.
On my bucket list.
My goodness❤❤❤ such a glorious display
Beautiful 🥰
TY...
Overwhelmingly Beautiful ❤
Thank you for the tour. I was inspired after watching this to visit my local nursery to upgrade/replace some of the plants in my south facing sunporch. I wintered over coleus cuttings and have since planted them out but decided to buy a few more to live permanently inside.
Thanks again for sharing this! 💯 I think this is the best tour yet! Biltmore is definitely on my bucket list! 💯❣️
When I was a teenager I went to Biltmore Estate. The Garden area was not open at that time, it was in the 70s.
The sign says not to touch but you touched so many plants. I can see why, I would want to touch also. Did he give you permission to touch for video? What is the reason for no touching?
Absolutely beautiful! Really enjoyed the video.
Touching can damage the plants. I was surprised to see her touching literally every plant.
wow this is one of the best conservatory green house tour you done
Wow, this is awesome!
It’s beautiful at Christmas time as well
Waaaw so beautifull and very charming place ✨🍁☘️🌴 , wish i can go there 🌺😍😍😍
Biltmore was just 3 miles from my house. Love AVL.
The dream!
E muito amor em um só lugar ❤...
Beautiful Estate!! When I went there I didn't visit the conservatory! We went to the mansion, stables and vineyard. I am planning to go soon and visit the conservatory
Great video, please do more!
That Jade orchid, we have it embedded in our coin here Philippines. Its a rare orchid. Im happy that its grows beautifully in a place that I wish to visit.
I'm in love with that shirt you are wearing! And your pants are the perfect color to pair with it 😍 i absolutely love floral patterns.
🤩Dazzling!!!🤩💚🕊☮️
42:19 Correction: Hoya pubicalyx is not from Mexico, it is a native of the Philippines. Hoyas are not found naturally in the New World.
Nice to see you in front of the camera again!
It so beautiful place to be 😀
6:02 Bromeliads are great... But I think some of the mangave varieties give them a run for their money. I use mangave in sinilar ways, and I don't have to worry about watering, or even providing them with light. I have dozens of pups sitting in my basement, on a pallet shelf, and I bring them up, pot them up, water them, and they carry on! I implore the Biltmore to at least add mangave into their bromeliad setups!
just so beautiful!!! Summer, I hope you also set up a botanical garden of sorts at FFL :D
So glad no thanks guys! Girls watch 2😊
So pretty ❤
Those philodendron selloum were reclassified to thaumatophyllum in 2020!
🤩🤩🤩
Awe, I was hoping this was about the winery. I guess I misread the title. But I love your channel.
I was thinking of visiting this place. The location is remote and that can make visiting it difficult.
Yes it’s worth the trip
I’m not understanding why you think Biltmore is remote. Asheville, NC is not a remote location and the estate is only 5 miles from the city center. There is a bus, if you don’t have a car.
Lets watch 💕💪🏾🐉🇸🇮
You said Peperomia are wind pollinated but I've observed that the inflorescences will attract flies here in Costa Rica. Maybe it's both though I'm not sure the pollen grains would fly very far.
whoa ... lovelovlovlove!
&be still my beating heart
What the hell! You’re in Asheville? It would of been nice meet you.
So hard to find that under the sea coleus.
I was just there I live right out side of asheville
I also would have to have my hands cuffed in order not to touch the plants lol
You must show us at Christmas time please
Ernest goes to Greenhouse
This comment made my day, it deserves so many more likes. But THIS man is like 1000x hotter 😅
Art & plants must stimulate the same parts of the brain 😅
Hi very long time
Do you plant like this i saw only in the philippines and i dont know this name
hey this is mine guy , lol dont like open space like walking into a jungle , same style as me of packing plants , but mindful if pest comes ....
I was just here! The weekend of April 19 -22nd!! I feel like the greenhouse could've had more collector/rare plants. It seemed like they just bought "filler" plants to make up for empty space. I was slightly disappointed. When was this filmed?
why would you think rare collector plants makes a greenhouse, you obviously not a plant lover just a newbie to the hobby and think rare aroids are the new thing. All plants like this here are worthy what make you think its not deserving of peoples love
All that coral-type red a bit garish...
lovely. thank you. why do you touch everything?
You show us in full screen the sign saying to look and no touch. But you touch everythinnggg! Kind of disrespectful.
