Really happy to see more Scriabin. Hope you record some of the Sonatas at some point.
Hi Paul - thank you for sharing this piece - one of the pieces that was assigned to me by my adviser for Grad School - your interpretation reminds me of how I was being guided by my professor and you played it so well and beautiful rendition - glad to see and hear this video - at the moment, I can still hear practical advice of my instructor and sharing me stories of Alexander Scriabin as she had a chance to meet him in person - More please
One of my favorite pieces to play on the piano. It is still not perfect, and my hands can barely reach the notes sometimes, but I feel many things when I play this.
Scriabin is the best
You played this challenging piece with such skill and dynamic range. Thanks for sharing it!
Very nice, Paul, thank you.
Beautiful music! bravo Paul!!
Fantastic performance Paul
For some reason I always thought of Scriabin as harsh soundingbut this is beautiful!
👏👏👏👏👏👏 a primeira música que ouvi dele foi esse opus
I don't understand a thing, but it's brilliant.
Just printed off to start. I don’t know whether it’s just me but I hate sight reading with double sharps, far easier with double flats 😊. How do you effectively do the stretch in bar 19 to the treble clef g to make it sound legato? 😬
Thank you.
Que hermoso!!!
Are you planning to do Op 8. No. 12?
😍
Do you consider the scriabin technique difficult? even if we are talking about the preludes?
Paul, do you play from the score or from memory? Are there any pieces that you permanently have memorised (even if unintentionally?)
❤

Back in 2017 when I was learning to play this piece, my best friend passed away unexpectedly and it took a little while to get back to this. When I finally did, I channeled a lot of my grief into my playing, and from measure 21 through 33 I added accelerandos and increased the dynamic markings (ex. forte to fortissimo). It's kinda funny how some of us will play a piece differently based on life experiences. Overall, I haven't played this piece since finishing it, so it's refreshing to hear it again but with a different, more mellow interpretation. Thank you Paul for your wonderful performance.
