Stage is set: Koe vs. Gushue in Brier final
    torontosun.com/2016/03/12/sta...
This time the Albertans didn’t burn a rock. That’s what happened to Koe & Co. in an 8-3 round-robin loss to Northern Ontario: Brent Laing’s broom made contact with Koe’s rock on the third end. The burned rock had to be removed and the result was a four-point end for Northern Ontario.
“That burned rock against Northern Ontario rattled us a little bit more than it probably should have,” said Alberta third Marc Kennedy of Edmonton. “It just changed the momentum for that game. But we rebounded really well and we returned to firing like we have most of the year.

    Another Brier in the Books

Jacobs decision to pull the Brent Laing burnt stone in their round robin game is something most every other skip at the Brier would have done. As another future hall of famer mentioned to me, it's bad sportsmanship to pull a draw that gets tapped as it's stopping in the four foot, another issue entirely on a peel weight shot that's 25 feet from its target. If the tap had come a few feet earlier, prior to the hogline, Jacobs would not have had a choice, it's supposed to be pulled immediately.

So glad to see they were honest enough to do the right thing. Happens a lot in club games but teammates don't often agree or fess up which can unfortunately cause dissension.

I burned a low stakes draw shot today and have been beating myself up over it. I can't imagine what these guys went through after that.

Looks like the shot was going to be made without them burning it. The rule is if it's burnt after the hogline it's the opposing teams decision whether to remove the rock or not. Brad could have made the call that the shot was gonna be made anyways and drew for one. Lost some respect for him after this decision.
