These 2 things are not possible in a 2000 hour work year and make it 26,000 to 34,000 per year, not 17,300. Who would take a salaried position that pays less than minimum wage? Since unpaid internships are illegal in Canada, all but student internships must be paid at least minimum wage. Student internships or co-ops are not full-time positions they are more of a contract position as a work term portion of their education. Maybe they make $17,300, but they're not a relevant portion of the workforce to even be mentioned because they're not immigrating to take $17,300 jobs.
At 1:12 you say the average income is $68,000 (which pays $12,000 income tax in Ontario), but at 4:14 you say the average family pays $64,600 in income tax. Do only high wage earners have a family in Canada? Each spouse would have to earn about $150,000/year to pay that much in income tax (assuming most would top up their RRSP every year). Sweet.
With a population of only 40 million, with nearly unlimited, natural resources, I can't understand why all Canadians aren't millionaires? Yet, many live in well-worn, weather beaten houses! Their currency is worth $.75 to the U.S. dollar, yet prices for goods & services are the same! They are taxed from numerous segments of gov't, including the equivalent of a Fed. sales tax! In short, Canadians need to get a "backbone' & throw their overspending, liberal politicians out & citizens need to begin to share equally, in their country's vast wealth!

with a handful of short exceptions the Canadian Dollar has been significantly less then the US Dollar since Diefenbaker. A big part of the issue is natural resources are, in general, not particularly valuable. Us and like 8 other countries can reasonably be said to have 'unlimited' natural resource. Basically we can only sell them if we can find a way to sell them extremely cheap or we get undercut by some other nation. Given that most of these resource are often extremely far from our population centres with no connection to ship or rail lines it usually makes no economic since to even bother to exploit them.
