Lovely to hear a real photographer saying “I can shape it how I want under the enlarger and not getting it right out of the camera”. Many precious modern photographers seem to think that getting it right in camera is a photographic law. Great video as always, thanks
Inspiring, motivates me to revisit places I've been to plenty of times and of which I'm otherwise a bit bored, to look at them from a different perspective. Thanks!
At first I see a close up of modern metal fence gate and I am thinking “warm up shot”. But when you see it properly framed it takes on a new life. ( writes myself a memo on this)
Really enjoyed these last 2 videos on ideas for "simple" photography projects. Keep them coming, maybe a whole series on shooting with a single topic in mind?
Best part is staring up at something in a busy street using your hand to shade the sun and noticing people around you also looking up thinking they are missing out!
Hi, Roger. Excellent video. Very inspiring and motivating. This is what I want to do. What you show in this video is the way I want to go. Thank you very much for this. Antoine.
The railings shot was my favourite as soon as you showed it at start of video. Great vision on your behalf man. I wouldn’t have thought of that shot 👍📸
Cheers Sloop. To be honest there were probably many compositions you would have seen that I wouldn't have. I went for a photowalk with a friend a while back and I was scratching my head at the most simple compositions he got that were really nice.
Some good different ideas here even for digital photography, black and white shots can be really atmospheric . I still have a Pentax P30N from years ago, might be time to give it an outing.
Cool results. My wife and I love going for walks around the neighborhood and get some macro shots on film. Keep up with the fun vids and your love for film photography.
Thanks Roger for another great video, you inspired me again to get out and find interesting shots in mundane surroundings. I still love the full Shooting to Darkroom videos.
The bench shadow image worked really well, mission accomplished. To be fair though, if Roger wasn’t on his hands and knees taking photographs around the IOW, something must be wrong!
😂 My daughter's friend asked me if I had any wellies as they were going to the farm. I gave him some old trainers. Him coming down from London the look was priceless.
Welcome to the "bins" club sir! It would be interesting to hear if it impacts your camera collection. I refactored *everything* when I started wearing glasses, because I didn't want to take them off. Eye relief... the struggle is real. Had to sell my Konica IIIA, because the 100% viewfinder, while amazing, did not play well with glasses. A Fujica Compact Deluxe replaced that Konica. Likewise, my Mamiya 645 went bye-bye in favor of a Bronica ETRSi. For 35mm SLR, got rid of several and replaced them with a Canon New F1 + Speed Finder, which I believe has the best eye relief of any film camera ever made. Come to think of it, you may want to try that New F1, not only for glasses, but because the speed finder rotates to make it a waist level finder too. Great video as always!
Thanks. I was shooting portraits with a friend on his Hasselblad a few months back and I couldn't believe it when he said my focus was out slightly! I do remember struggling to focus not realising I needed glasses! I've yet to try all my cameras, I'm also worried about scratching the glasses with the cameras metal viewfinder. The F3 has a rubber eye cup so that maybe the way forward for my other cameras.
Great video, again. Very inspiring. Using the mat of the frame is a very good idea. Thank you. Shooting black and white with film, printing in the dark room. It is exactly what I am doing.
So you thought you had great bokeh, but you needed glasses instead! Seriously though even if your eyes were off focus, your photos are always bang on. Keep it up, loving it.
I recently did a session around Gunwharf Quays using my Nikon F5 with just a 50mm f1.4 and Ilford XP2 400. Makes one think much more about composition, shape and form.
Gunwharf Quays is brilliant for curves. I'd have no struggle if I was there. Mind you last time I got told I couldn't use a tripod by security! (which was for my GoPro)
I’ve been appreciating your videos for a while now. Great explanations, wonderful humor and fantastic ideas. I don’t use a dark room as I haven’t the space and develop with only Cafenol in a lab box and scan with the digital to get the job done, but watching your videos makes me want a dark room 😂. Specs look great, glad you have a new view on things, thank you for the inspiring ideas
Damn! I've just got to go out and get my curve shots tomorrow! Like the close-up compositions. Almost minimalist or abstract in a way. A nice change from the landscapes I usually do.
Hello Roger, great video and equally great photos. And as far as the glasses are concerned, I had the same “ah haaa” effect a few months ago after I got new glasses. What do we conclude from this, we are getting old😜 in this sin, have a nice weekend!!!
I've been a photographer for 40 years. I really enjoyed watching this video. Takes me back to the days when I shot on film. Now I'm going to buy some film and load up the ol' Nikon FE-2 and have some fun. Thank you for reminding me about the joy of shooting on film.
I love something different and you've the skill to do it. Though I haven't gotten round to doing film again, I print my digital images on a cheap Epson printer ( of the everlasting ink variety) And mount on cheap frames. Works for me .🤣👍
I always enjoy your videos so much. One of the few channels that just extrudes the joy of photography. I just always learn something or get an idea of something I would like to do.
Your last two videos were very inspiring. I like that you had an objective when you went out. Sticking with that takes discipline. They look great framed. Makes me want to get out.
Great video as usual. Really enjoyed it and I'm feeling inspired to look for different angles among the ordinary. Thanks for that! By the way, with overly curly films (like most Kodak films!), I've found that rolling the entire film backwards and storing it overnight in a small box or maybe a tin helps out greatly with flattening the film. Been doing that for over 30 years and it's very effective. I have some archival tubing from the folks at Printfile that I'll put the roll into and then I roll it backwards and keep it in a leftover slide box.
This was a fun one!! Using the KISS method....Keep It Simple Stupid.....LOL Gave me some inspiration for this week! BTW Did you have a chance to check out that link I sent for a film cutter?
OK so now you've got the specs . Next up scouring eBay for the dioptre attachments for your camera viewfinders when you realise you're scratching your expensive prescription lenses. Not too long before you start realising you have knees and it takes a bit longer to get up from those low down shots . Ask me how I know :-)
Luckily I have rubber eye pieces for some of my cameras but not all!! So I will be looking for some rubber cups. After 20 years of low down angles It's getting more painful now every time I get up! Creek Creek...😂 And countless jeans with the left knee worn too that I can't really get away with calling 'Fashion' anymore
Your videos always inspire me. You see things that I don't.
Well he does now he's got his glasses 🤓
Thanks. I can imagine you see things I don't.
😂
Lovely to hear a real photographer saying “I can shape it how I want under the enlarger and not getting it right out of the camera”. Many precious modern photographers seem to think that getting it right in camera is a photographic law. Great video as always, thanks
Thanks. Some negatives I enjoy printing the rebate if the negative is on point. But even then I may crop to how I think the final print should look.
Inspiring, motivates me to revisit places I've been to plenty of times and of which I'm otherwise a bit bored, to look at them from a different perspective. Thanks!
Enjoy!
At first I see a close up of modern metal fence gate and I am thinking “warm up shot”. But when you see it properly framed it takes on a new life. ( writes myself a memo on this)
Thanks Austin. Simple isn't it .
As someone with -7 diopter, welcome to the blind photographer's club. Nice glasses too! The Roger to Phil Collins transformation is inevitable.
Damn- I thought I heard the last of Phil! 🫣 lol
Really enjoyed these last 2 videos on ideas for "simple" photography projects. Keep them coming, maybe a whole series on shooting with a single topic in mind?
Thanks Russ. I enjoyed making them.
6:50 I know the struggle, we photographers can't explain what we see to others, they just can't understand the vision we have.
Best part is staring up at something in a busy street using your hand to shade the sun and noticing people around you also looking up thinking they are missing out!
Simply love your getting close videos! Inspired me to take photos of things I always walked by before.
Hi, Roger.

That F3 with the HP viewfinder is perfect for us blokes with spectacles. It will spoil you for most any other SLR (OM cameras excepted).
Thanks, you too!
Beautiful captures and darkroom work. Great job on vision of the angles.
Thanks :)
Thanks Roger for another great video, you inspired me again to get out and find interesting shots in mundane surroundings. I still love the full Shooting to Darkroom videos.
Thanks Steve.
The bench shadow image worked really well, mission accomplished. To be fair though, if Roger wasn’t on his hands and knees taking photographs around the IOW, something must be wrong!
Thanks. Yes I don't think any to the photos would have worked on a flat day. The shadows looked good I thought. I do get some odd looks!
Great Lines and tones. Love the F3. Congrats on your specs, now all you need is a pair of Wellingtons and you'll be one of us, Rog.
😂 My daughter's friend asked me if I had any wellies as they were going to the farm. I gave him some old trainers. Him coming down from London the look was priceless.
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss LOL.

Rewarding isn't it Marco! :) Thanks.
You’re a right weirdo and that’s why I’m here. The results are always beautiful and interesting.
Ha Ha cheers.
Amazing and really inspiring video, as always!
Keep sharing your passion and talent... 👏👌
(The right designation is “wooden reels”! 🙂)
Thank you 🙌
Another great , inspirational video Roger. Thanks. KB
Thanks Ken
So you thought you had great bokeh, but you needed glasses instead! Seriously though even if your eyes were off focus, your photos are always bang on. Keep it up, loving it.
Thanks Ray.
I appreciate this video very much! Great idea, well seen details, perfectly made pictures. Thank you for this inspiration! 😎👍
Glad you enjoyed it!

Awesome! Thank you! Well done for sticking with film with limitations. Admirable.
Damn! I've just got to go out and get my curve shots tomorrow! Like the close-up compositions. Almost minimalist or abstract in a way. A nice change from the landscapes I usually do.
Cheers Tim. Yes me too, makes a change to try something out of the ordinary. Catch it on a sunny day for the shadows.
I've never met any artist that isn't a bit of a "weirdo." Relish in it, it's creative.
Well impressed, its given me self some ideas ,I need a bit of inspiration at the moment.. That's it I'm going out at weekend....
Happy shootin' Mark!
0:40 I see what you did there 😂
Hello Roger, great video and equally great photos. And as far as the glasses are concerned, I had the same “ah haaa” effect a few months ago after I got new glasses. What do we conclude from this, we are getting old😜 in this sin, have a nice weekend!!!
Thanks 👍 😂
I shot tri-x over 50 years ago and loved it. Great to hear it's still around.
Thanks so much for this, really inspiring. I love the photos you shot!
Thanks for watching. :)
You do a great job of explaining and showing, and of course demonstrating the beauty of film.
Thanks Steve. Encouraging.

Wonderfull images very creative. Well done

If you enjoy that process Eltin thats all that matters. I'm off out today digital :) Although I don't have a printer!

Thanks Erich! And thanks for watching regularly.
an F3, an af-D 28 and a milvus. what a glorious hodgepodge lol. nice prints though.
Hodgepodge LOL. New word for me.
So inspiring, Boss. This is right up my alley as well. I love these borderline abstract photos of beautiful shape and form and shadow.
Awesome, thank you!
Always enjoy your videos and enthusiasm
I appreciate that!
Hi Roger, think you missed a great image... The end of the bench with the metal circle - the B roll showed a great complementary shadow on the ground.
Good call! There were probably loads you guys would have seen different than me.
Nice job. I love the results.
Thank you! Cheers!
Your last two videos were very inspiring. I like that you had an objective when you went out. Sticking with that takes discipline. They look great framed. Makes me want to get out.
Thanks. I do find it easier and more fun with an objective.
Great video as usual. Really enjoyed it and I'm feeling inspired to look for different angles among the ordinary. Thanks for that!

Well done. Was a pleasure to see the creativity all the way through the entire process.
Cheers Nigel.
Yes Roger, I spotted the funny sign😂 Looks as if it’s been tampered with by some funny photographer!!
😂
This was a fun one!! Using the KISS method....Keep It Simple Stupid.....LOL Gave me some inspiration for this week! BTW Did you have a chance to check out that link I sent for a film cutter?
I did Rick! Thanks for that. I have one now :) It's handy for getting it right.
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss I figured you'd like it. Cheers mate!
Id buy Tri -X more if it wasn’t so dear😏
They did drop the price by 30% bringing it to about £9 a roll.
Staggering shots, indeed. And an extremely inspiring approach, too...
Thanks :)
Nice and very inspiring Roger!
Love to see your love for photography.
Thanks for watching Bass!
Superb work mate
Thank you so much 😀
28 m is the best for this photos

Glasses! You're gunna get bullied at school on Monday for sure. Welcome to the 4 eye club, ya specky (expletive deleted)!
LOL. Already getting it on here!
😄SU🐞PE🐞R!!!🐞👍
What prism is that on the f3?
I hate shooting with glasses on. I use my contacts when I'm out and about. How do you find it?
Different! But at least I can focus without struggling which is what I was doing before. Contacts for me will be way down the road I think.
