- Hey everybody, Feddie here. I have recently started drinking the Festool KoolAid. I'm liking their tools but I can't bring myself to spend several hundred dollars on the MFT.
This is my take on the Festool MFT multi-function table. I wanted a portable table that would not take up permanent space in my shop. I also wanted it to have functionality with the Festool clamps but also accept traditional clamps. I found a plan for a similar table called a multi-function slab and modeled mine after that one.
I made this on my CNC Router Parts CNCRP 4896 machine. Turned out great.

You are a very talented man Feddie! Started watching back when the pole barn vids were starting, I always enjoy when one of your videos pops up on my subscription feed.
feddie ............ just never realized how nice of tools you have and your understanding of them .... great work
Now that's how a MFT table is built. Awesome job
Great project. Great table, with great features, I want one. thanks for taking the time to share.
+Thomas Gilbert Thanks for watching, Thomas. I appreciate it!
You are the man! looks like I know what I am doing this weekend! This is perfect for a small shop where you can utilized the space of the table saw when not in use! Keep the innovations coming!
+Dang Le Thanks for the kind words Dang. FYI if you are going to build this, the holes are 20mm and I cut them just a hair over that for an easy fit. Good luck!
Well done video Feddie. Thanks for sharing!
Nice build, and great video! I like the idea of a table top FTT.
I'm lucky enough to own a full MFT/3 multi-function table and I have to say, the flip down rail and infinitely adjustable angle fence are so incredibly useful they make the ticket price worth it on their own. That feature takes the MFT to a whole other dimension of usefulness. Sold my mitre saw as a result too, which lowered the cost.
Nice looking piece. Really like watching you build it with all the cool kit.
+Seth Thomas Thanks for checking it out, Seth. I really appreciate it!
good idea with the rubber feet. I built a version of the mft recently too. Mine is 18mm thick but with 50mm strips of MDF around the edge to stiffen it up. It's built to sit over 2 dewalt saw horses. It's so handy I wish I'd made one years ago.
Good morning sir,
I am in process of building a new set of work benches for my home workshop in future and honestly appreciate your video being made and effort to share the concept as it had some great features I will incorporate into my new design.
Thanks for aiding other in the process.
Sheldon
Really appreciate you watching. Glad it gave you something to noodle on!
Certainly learnt a lot, like the feet system! - gonna make one of these. Luckily a friend nearby has a big CNC router!!
Great video.
Nice project,top job👍👍
Mooi en handig ding, frees tafel is jaloers makend 👍👍🇳🇱🇳🇱
What? No commentary? That's my favorite part of your videos. Awesome job Feddie.
+Fools of the Trade Thanks for checking in Brother. Yeah, some of the videos moving forward will have it and others won't. I appreciate you being a faithful viewer!
Awesome.....I'm going to make one....thanks for sharing Feddie!
Yes!!!! Lemme know how yours turns out!
Well done Feddie, love the branding too. I currently own a TS55 and have been jones'ng a domino. Saving my pennies cause I'm gonna get one someday. Thanks for sharing this idea!
+Larry527az Thanks for checking it out Larry. I really appreciate it!
awesome idea! now all i need is $10,000 for Festool tools and a CNC machine!
+Adam Jones Ha!
You can buy the jig for about $200 and all you then need is a drill. And then add cheap accessories.
You can buy the tops already cut from eBay.
@UPSIPO That's what did!
You can buy a pair of dividers and a rule for a fiver and borrow your dads brace and bit
Great alternative to the expensive original. Think I like it better. Turned out pretty cool. Great job, Feddie. Troy
Yep. All one needs now is a big sized cnc, and a metal lathe. Then your all set for saving :D
Great vid Feddie! Very innovative on the design as well as the name of the original ;) Thanks for sharing as always.
+Ian “MossMake” Moss Thanks for checking in Ian. I appreciate the view!
very cool idea about cilinders for the festool guide.
+Vladimir Evdokimov Thanks Vladimir. I appreciate the view!
It is much more simpler and reliable that original festool system which I don't like honestly. I have ts55 and just recently have been thinking about selfmade mft for it but not original mft from festool. If you please I want to take your idea for my table
Wow! I would so love to get into woodworking. My grandfather was a carpenter, making furniture to building houses. Maybe something my husband and I could get into. Just something about making it with your own two hands!!! You make it look easy though 😏 love the videos!!! 😊👏🏻
Buy our self cheap saws, chisels and away you go.
Awesome table, Freddie! Looks like it would be super functional even if you don't own any festool stuff.
+Braxton Wirthlin Thanks for checking in out, Braxton. Yep, I think this thing will get a lot of use.
Great build Freddie, very cool!
+TheAVJedi Thanks!
hey man just watched this vid awesome love the name you should market this as I would buy one in UK thanks for sharing this keep going love your vids even made the pocket hole trolley.
Feddie love your video's I thought you had gone i just purchased the Rotex FEQ and I love it cheers
Mark
+Mark Dan Mark! Thanks for checking in!
This couldn't have come at a better time... I'm getting ready to build a woodworking bench and I've been looking at traditional benches thinking - there's gotta be a better way. Square bench dogs are going to be a thing of the past. Thanks for sharing this one!
+Greg's Garage Good to hear from you Greg. I sent you a note with some info that might help get you started on this.
Thanks!!!
You could produce one with square dots and a rotational top bit that spins around. The possibilities are endless.
Love the table and the demo of its use. I'm going to make one of these but haven't got a CNC machine so will have to go "old school" for the holes! :o)
Definitely don't need the CNC machine. The PARF Mark II GUIDE SYSTEM will work just as well. Good video but lost me at CNC to build the slab.
never knew you were a festool guy! Great video- I would never pay $400 dollars for a work table
Very Nice Feddie! Always enjoy your videos! Wish you made more. But I'm sure your a busy guy! I like the name in the table.
+Tim Mccann Thanks for watching, Tim. This summer/fall has been extraordinarily busy but I hope to get more content out moving forward.
Very Nice, great idea! Just need to reorganize and expand the shop and I'll build one.Cheers
Thanks Dan!
Nice Feddie. Been waiting on a new video and well worth the wait.
+ProspectorBill Thanks for checking in, Bill. Good to hear from you. Thanks for watching!
Very cool...I actually bought just the MFT top and built a table around it
There's hundreds of these tables out there, BUT you've really nailed it with the little extras that make this table the best design by far, side slots all way round the table for your over sized clamps and those tricky little jobs what everyone has, the simple idea of rubber feet - how many people out there have to clamp there table top to another table to stop it sliding or use there knees...(be honest). Great video
+darkcoolcat Thanks for watching, Cat!
I'm looking at the CNCrouterparts 4896 also, how do you like it? I'm looking to buy the second CNC machine first.
As always very inspiring ideas!
Thanks Craft. Really appreciate the kind words.
Your slacking, you forgot the beer holder! Nice Job!
You need to be selling these thing man!
Would your cnc file be available for download? Awesome demonstration of how to leverage, as well as way cool metal machining!
NICE JOB!LOVE THE NAME.
Hat did you use to seal the MDF? Thanks
Where did you get the domino vac hose? Looking for a non festool source. Thx.
4 years in - how do you like the table?
+blazingnailgun why you add this satin coat before cnc - not after?
Great build!!!!
Great build. Do you have an SVG file you would be willing to share of the top?
OMG! I want to make one on the CNC at the local MakerSpace. I'm sure it will take a while to come up with the cut file for that since I'm still learning. But what a great idea!
Thanks Angie. The table I made is 48 wide and 36 deep. The holes for Festool clamps need to be 20 mm. Other than that, just lay it out to suit your needs.
You could also by the parf jig and make it up as well. It costs about $250 and you can just drill them up your self.
You can use plywood if you want.
MUITO BEM BOLADO AMIGO, ESTAIS DE PARABENS
Great job!
I love the quiet video without annoying chip monk music .. Congratulations on the table
I strung a cord across the work shop above head height with floating hooks and looped the vacuum and power so it doesn't get in the way of cutting
COMMON FEDDIE !!! GET RID OF THAT SACRIFICIAL BOARD AND CUT INTO YOUR NEW TOP !!! POP THAT CHERRY BUDDY!! LOL !!!!
Welcome to the Festool side. Let's see if you get as much negative comments as I do. LOL ! Keep doing what you do bro !
Great table, nicely executed. Now I want a CNC machine!
Eric
+MrBigerock Hahahahaha. I love your comments. And they are so true. But I don't want to mar up my new table top......... :-) Thanks for checking in Eric. Always good to hear from you.
+MrBigerock stop stalking people's youtube and make some more videos lol. I'm pinning away for another series like the cabinets
+Steven Brown Dude, I've uploaded 3 videos in the month of December. How many do yo want? LOL !
Yeah cut into it !
Nooooooooooo! :-)
That's kickass nice Feddie! You need to sell that in kit form. That drill bit looked a bit unsharp. lol
+Darrell Coquillette Good to hear from you Darrel. The problem is the weight and size. Shipping would be really expensive!
18mm MDF ? And what's that white stuff you put on it with a roller?
I would think it's pva.
this table is exactly what I want! Are the cnc files available? I belong to a maker's space in VA that has a cnc machine. I would love to make the exact one you made. Thanks!
Hi feddie
really inspiring for me thanks for sharing.
i have a festool track and saw and was wondering if you have come up with any idea on how to rip multiple pieces without taking the measuring tape out and marking it of, each time.
Thanks for advice given.
+Lmjoshea O Shea Thanks for the kind words. I am really new to the Festool tools so I am learning too. I haven't tried to tackle what you have described yet. If you figure it out then let me know!
I will do. ;)
Nice build gives me some ideas for a detachable wall mounted one for those of us who have a lack of space.
Thanks a great idea, Raven. Maybe make it fold down?
Was thinking a fold down with leg support on the side opposite the wall. legs similar to the type used on old fashioned foldup card table. The anchors to the wall would give the most support to avoid wracking or movement. or even just fold down on top of sawhorse (s).
What's the CFM on the dust collector for the CNC router? I've been trying to decide on what size DC I should pick up for my router. I noticed in some previous videos it looked like it was leaving chips (but the dust collector was also full too it seemed) but in this video it pretty much captures everything. Also, I cracked up when I saw that Feddie-Stool engraved in the middle in a look alike font.
+Stonewood Thanks for watching and for the kind words. I really appreciate it. I believe it's about 900 cfm?
Great Job Feddie +++
Nice, Cool build!
+dwight fry Thanks Dwight!
Love it Feddie! And it's portable ;-)
+AMiller Woodworking Thanks for checking in, Andy. Good to hear from you!
bet you saved a bunch of money building it over buying one. Great video!
+Kortt Wulfe Thanks for watching Kortt. Yep, I have about 40 bucks and some electricity in this one. :-)
What size bolts are you using in guide rails?
You talk too much!! lol. Great build and very clever. Now all I need is a CNC machine.
A small version of the Paulk work table would result in the same functionality, with added storage below. Still, a great idea with nice execution.
+Steven Rochon Great tip, Steven. Thanks for sharing.
Great Build!
Thanks!
How much js that kind of machine, and brand pls?
what is the size of your table?
How fancy!
Hey, where did you get those dog holes to clamp onto your track?
Any chance you make these to order? Different sizes? 👍🏽
wooow! any plans?
very cool. How much is that CNC machine?
You cut a board and let the cut piece fall to the floor without holding it?!?!?
You really are a master!!!! Master of disaster !!!
Great table!
Thanks Marco! Please subscribe if you have not already!
Well Done!!
Freddie, are you going to be making these tops for the track tubes and the bora saw horses? If so, I am very interested in getting one made.
Yeah bill. I’m ramping up to do them now. New version. Won’t be long til I do.
Really think you missed out on the Fred'stool opportunity
hi great build. I'm going to be making on myself, but I don't have a CNC machine, so I'll be drilling out my holes, etc. what size holes do I need to drill out.
cheers
20mm
Cheers 👍
Very cool job
+Noddi1964 Thanks!
Very good!
What brand or did you build the cnc machine?
CNC Router Parts. Give Ahren a call and tell him I sent you!
Freddie, that's awesome, I want one! Seriously, would you make one to sell me?
+Mike Kapotsy Thanks for checking in Mike. Good to hear from you. Shoot me an email and let's figure out how to get one of these made for you. blazingnailgun@gmail.com
Our School just purchased a CNC Router. Do you by chance share the file for your multifunction table? This would be a great project for my students. Having two or three of these in the shop would add to our festool tool collection. If not, I understand!
Just program it to ensure that every whole is equally spread apart. That is the secret to it.
Awesome!!!!!
I want to make my own mft so have been watching the videos of others making their own. I was thinking this was one of those til it shows the CNC (I"m new to all this so didn't know that's what it's called until reading following comments)...so don't want to buy because of price but have this computerized machine? At first didn't make since, but then I guess you can make a lot with that machine as well was many more met and in different sizes. Kudos!
Yeah cool ass track holding dogs!
Respect👍
i would like to buy one table top from you . let me know please . i am in Canada Toronto
+Roman Charazian Thanks for watching Roman. The shipping would be preventative for making it a good value.
Wait.... you have a CNC but can't afford an MFT3?
+Mark Feliciano Hahaha. I get ribbed about that alot. :-)
but imagine how many mft you can rip with a cnc!
but seroiusly... make you own short dog??
Maybe he likes making things?
Festool and Sawstop! Easy on the eyes. 😂😂😂
+Geoff Else Thanks for checking in, Geoff. I appreciate the view!
Slm
a man has got to have his toys. :-) Good job
+Joe Honea Thanks for checking in, Joe. Good to hear from you.
nice video...hummm lots of nice tools to make it :)
+AKA 65 Thanks for watching, AKA. Yes, I am grateful that I am able to have these tools. Very thankful indeed. And I recently started drinking the Festool KoolAid so I have to watch the pocket book a little closer now. :-)
Awesome.
+One Man Band Woodworking Thanks!
Once you go Festool. U won't go back
+martin chavarria that is true, also in the 80's black market for body parts was non existent. Now it's easy to sell a kidney and afford 1 Festool tool.
Mafell is better:)
Henning Gohlke I'm sure it's a good brand. To bad I can't get it in Canada. I'll try to get one product from them and try it.
Martin Chavarria Get the track saw, it is better than the Festool saw:)
Henning Gohlke in a festool fan but I like to do reviews. So I'll try to get it. Not sure if it's going to be easy
Thanks for sharing this video, you did great job.
All it would take is a torch to get out using Festool's $40 clamps. Irwin or Stanley are much cheaper.
feddie-stool like it!
+bruce buren THanks!
Nice! I'll probably just be lazy and buy the MFT.
+Lane Bros WoodShop Thanks for checking in Brother. Good to hear from you.
Great build but you lost me at the CNC router...I might be able to pop for a $700 table, but not a CNC machine!
The Parf jig system is about $200 and all you need is a drill and it will create perfectly aligned MFT table. And you can produce any table size you want.
Haha! I see what you did there!
+john barrington Thanks for watching, John.
What type of CNC?
+Rob Boone CNC Router Parts 48X96 PRO. Give Cory a call and tell him I sent you.
+blazingnailgun Thanks Feddie, By the way I watched your barn building series and your instruction was beneficial when I built my stalls and tack room. My ground had a grade difference of 18" and your pole leveling technique worked perfectly. My neighbors were impressed as was I!
