This information is really helpful and want to see more of your videos. Thank you very much.
I feel rich eating $6 caviar from Walmart
saaaammmeeeee
Thanks for the video. Answered some of my questions about caviar
HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU SUPPOSED NOT TO USE A METAL SPOON YET THEY SELL CAVIAR IN METAL CANS?!
because it's in the grocery store and it's cheap
+Club Soda I feel like people would actually talk like this in a food store. Just much more quietly to perhaps a friend or the store owner.

+altaroffire56 +lycoria isn't wrong in that they're lined but on top of that, metal is mostly okay. The technically rule is not to use silverware and by silverware they mean actual silver, not just metals. Often misinterpreted as metals being not allowed.
wow.
Lots of great info!
Wow I'm born and raised in NY and never knew sturgeon was from here. Over time I've developed a palette for caviar but I only get it when I'm at a restaurant that serves it, sort of a treat to myself but not often lol. Thanks for the info. :-)
Great little vid Daniel thanks!
Thank you, you add Great information
very informative, thanks.
I didn't check the date until he said "it's like iPad 2s" hahah
azntaegrl same here
Pls were in 2020😂
An important point to make here is that all fish roe is pretty much the same in terms of nutritional value. The balance of omega-3 fatty acids, proteins and vitamins differs, but not by much. It really comes down to taste more than anything else. Correctly prepared pike roe can pretty easily rival the "real caviar" (which is more of a marketing term than any tangible characteristic - depending on the kind of sturgeon and technology employed in preparing it, caviars may have little in common)
Great info 👌🏾
Thanks for the GOOD information. And the recipe.
The classic way in Russia and surroundings: White bread + a little spread of butter + Caviar. OR caviar + crepes. Needless to say, it goes very well with Vodka (especially the red caviar) or black Russian tea.
Thanks for info..
5:19 that looks so gooood! im surprised it tastes salty, didnt expect that... nice video!
Roe is also considered a delicacy because of the intense nutrition that it contains, especially all of the fat-soluble vitamins. Certain indigenous cultures would go out of their way to harvest, dry, and consume fish roe when couples were conceiving so as to have the healthiest children possible.
Great description.
I've had roe in sushi but not plain served up like that. I really want to try now!!
Daniel, really liked your video, very informative, especially for people who have never tasted domestic caviar. I love some domestic caviar, but like you pointed out, if you go too cheap you will never even come close to what caviar tastes like. Some less expensive brands are very good and come close enough to good caviar you can appreciate it. This was the first video of yours I have watched, but see that you have others, so will be watching them too.
Brighton beach, which is about as Eastern European as it gets in Brooklyn is a great neighborhood to get a wide variety of different caviar. Prices range which is great of course but it's all quality brands domestic and imported.

Let the mix stand in the refrigerator overnight. Salt and vinegar will kill possible parasites (it's a raw fish product after all). Oil will be absorbed by the roe and it will gain in volume. Besides, oil is a natural preservative and it will give it extra moisture, so it doesn't form a crust or goes sticky.
Before serving, feel free to finely chop green onions, chives or whatever suits your taste and use that for garnish or mix it in.
Bon appetit.
Nice job!
@danieldelaney Sacramento, CA, but more specifically in Elverta. The company is called "Stolt Sea Farm". $88/1oz.
@flyersfan1799
Here's what I recommend: get a sack of fresh pike roe from local fishermen if you can. Now is exactly the season. Cut the sack open and separate the roe from the sack. Rub the roe through the sift/screen of apropriate aperture to separate remaining fragments of the sack. Bring sufficient volume of saturated salty water solution to a boil, take it off the heat, let it cool slightly and dump the roe into it, mixing it with a spoon or a spatula.

I went to NYC Last Week and it was my first time trying Caviar at Petrossian Resturant, The dinner was expensive but the Caviar was unbelievable!!!!!
You sir got confidence!!

The slime that envelops the eggs will boil and turn, staying on top, whereas the eggs should sink. Remove the turned slime from the surface with a skimmer and drain the roe. You don't want to keep it there too long, so as not to cook it through. All of this should take about one minute. Once drained, add 25% of roe's volume vegetable oil or deodorized fish oil, 1 tbsp salt per pound, 0-2 tbsp vinegar and mix well.

Recommendations and where to buy your american black sturgeon caviar?
Appreciated bro
In Sweden we eat caviar from the "Stonebiter" fish. Cyclopterus lumpus. Most notable version is Kalles Kaviar. It's not that expensive and it's mostly eaten on Sandwiches or hard bread. I don't like beluga caviar, but I will eat sometime the Swedish version of Caviar.
I meant to say my man is going to try the caviar for the first time and I'm going to get the best this time, And I wanted to thank you for the tips on that :)
Wow. Thanks
I have a suggestion, if you are still looking for them, I was thinking tou could do something on yoghurt. I know it sounds daft but I was doing a lab on the microbacteria that make it and though it might interest other people. I have no idea if there would be enough information to make a video about but it was just a thought. :)
i have two questions, what is the cheapest you want to buy for caviar that still has a
good taste, because even $40 can be a little expensive for me, but like you said some of the super cheap stuff tastes bad. Also have you tried salmon roe caviar, and would you recommend it to some one who doesnt have a whole lot of money to spend?
Awesome video!(:
What's the cheapest sturgeon caviar? Like what species out of all of the ones mentioned in this video.
I can't believe I'm only watching this 9 years later 😳😳
That orange caviar (I believe it's from Salmon) is very sweet, It don't even taste like fish at all but like candy..They also use it to make a great Sushi called Ebiko..That alone is enough to get people trying caviar in my opinion (was me) I will soon be getting a small can from my Russian pal.
Plus, the video talks about why Baluga caviar is so expensive, and that is supply and demand.
@kerberos623 We also have it on hardboiled eggs. Or as part of Smörgåstårta (lit sandwich cake).
Great information. I do enjoy caviar a lot, but
CZcams is like a chinese/japanese buffet in the US.
Pizza, french fries, sushi/shashimi, orange chicken, and buffalo wings
All on one plate.
awesome
yes
I like the flying roe or caviar that they pile on top of sushi. It is so good.
I had Ballyhoogar cavier at the Rits Karl.
@pearlyone1
are these eggs they are eating ?
I got some caviar yesterday and it was like 4 dollars but it was in a fancy little canned jar and it's dark blue is it the legit shit or does it have to be 300 bucks to be called a real tight caviar ?
I used to eat it pure directly from one-liter pot with a big spoon in my childhood... eh... I demand those times back!!!
Korean caviar is resonantly priced, and VERY SALTY, but that is what makes it a traditional dish, i think that all caviar is valuable because of the fact that it comes from hundreds of unborn baby fish! but it is very good and should be eaten with respect.
I'm eating some right now, it's delicious! Nothing quite like it. I was hoping for some more recommendations on how to eat it tho cuz I don't like crackers or bread too much, so I just eat it without anything else.
@EvilPlasticPlate
Exactly the point I made in another comment here. Russia and Iran are known to farm sturgeon and harvest the roe without killing the fish. At least that goes for the bigger, more valuable kinds of sturgeon that take a while to mature. "Sterlyad", for example, is not a very valuable kind, so it may very well be killed in the process, but then again it is being cultivated in such numbers and matures so quickly that it's not a problem.
I'd been in Azerbaijan about year ago and I eat caviar here. I think Azerbaijan has best caviar in the world market. ( sorry for bad english)
Yeeeeee you like Azerbaijan
rocketman8887 actually I was eating the Azerbaijan caviar ten minutes ago and it was AMAZING our country has the best caviar, you're right
It's like eating super tiny salty grapes.
different style of eating caviar. in my place the caviar is deep fried with chicken egg, red onions, hot chilli and some salt.
Why is the swedish Caviar so affordable and a delicacy.Kalles kaviar.👌😋
"im sure alot of you haven't even heard of caviar before".. lol i know 5 year olds that heard of caviar before lol
jayy quan lol
Glad I sub
Where I live there is a large Caviar Farm. It makes good caviar.
I'm a vegetarain now but years ago(before I was a vegetarian) I was served caviar at a dinner party that was stirfried with asain sauces and fish. It tasted terrible. Is caviar meant to be served raw or is it meant to be cooked? I prefer eating seaweed these days. Hehe :) Very informative video though. :)
ever heard of seaweed caviar? (vegetarian caviar) id be curious to know how it taste
never was a fan of sturgeon egg myself.
Where can I buy caviar.
ive made homemade salmon caviar...amazing when the fish is fresh caught in Alaska!!!
You dont know wy people like caviar?
Well, with this video you'll learn nothing.
thank you lmao
Francisco Zahradnik He said its because of the taste you dumb fuck.
Where i stay they sell caviar at like $10 for quite like 100 grams, or like $150/ounce. There are no inbetween stuff
How and where can I buy a sturgeon fish
the 3 euro caviar is also good. i tried the 100 euro version and it was not really a difference
this guy really knows his caviar!
@danieldelaney It's abit milder in flavour then the russian kind. pretty nice actually. and the eggs are much smaller.
Karambit Lore FN is expensiver tho....how irony xD
That was a good lesson in supply and demand.
i just watched the movie called the curious case of benjamin button...and because of that i ended up here watching what caviar actually is...XD
wohooo! econ 101!
Was studying my Economics.. how on earth did I ended up on youtube watching a video about Caviar? ...
"It's like IPad 2s" I actually did laugh out loud.
VisibleNinja5674 I love seeing 2012 comments
actually they cut them open and the after removing the eggs, they sew it back up and release the fish again
In Iran, we use the cesarean method and it's better than killing fish I hope none of the people try to kill an animal to produce the food
Here's as link to the site of a good caviar dealer. where you can read more about the qualities of various types, along with some reviews.
www.caviarstar.com/
The first time I had caviar was in "caviar pie" which was layered cream cheese, chopped egg, chive, onion, creme friache/sour cream, and the top covered in caviar; sort of a fancy layer dip to be spread on toast.
i just bought 2 life fishes today and both of them had caviar inside of them, i think i have about 20 oz if not more
Change my mine mom made seviche with it taste good with crackers lime n Valentina hot sauce cilatro onion .yummy.
cool
Never had caviar, probably never will.
I have had fish eggs though. lol not american caviar, just fish eggs. If you catch a fish with eggs you can actually take out the egg sacs whole and pan fry them in oil. So it's like a strange fish egg sausage. It's rather crumbly in texture and looks like couscous . This is from pickerel/walleye.
In the town where I was born there was a fishing company that made caviar out of the local river sturgeon eggs.
1:40 says you cant call it caviar unless it comes from the caspian or black sea but then on 3:40 says in new york city for 5 cents you can get the best "domestic caviar". xD
Your so adorable.. Thanks for the info
I can only afford salmon & lumpfish, does sturgeon taste better?
Yes! Significantly different. I didn't think it would until I tried sturgeon at new year's party. So much better it was absurd. But the price increase is crazy. For just the small jar it was $80 USD. I would say it was certainly worth it!
I heard that to mean once upon a time. Not necessarily now.
I'm in my teens and eating caviar right now
I've had Iranian caviar but the Lidl caviar is just as good at only £2 for two jars.
I've never had caviar before. But if I were to spend that much money on a delicacy, why would I mask the flavor with such overpowering tastes as onions, eggs, and chives? Doesn't make much sense to me.
also toasted bread is hard on the palate. Eggs, sour cream, chives and onions will change the taste of the caviar. And why would you pay good money for caviar if all youre going to taste is onion. Im sure these addition help if the caviar is of low quality. If the quality is there, eat it alone with a shot of classic russian vodka.
I wouldn't serve caviar with all that other stuff. Not good. Serve it on (unsalted) buttered toast points or simply with with mother of pearl spoons. I've been thinking of trying Tsar Nicoulai from California this Christmas. I had Beluga caviar years and years ago, it's now illegal here. It was incredible. I still think about it...ahhhh
omg it's V!!!!!!!
Too bad I have gout. And too broke to even think about caviar. SMH.......
Would kelp caviar count as caviar?
I tried American caviar for a little jar was $10 so I guess it wasn't really the real stuff and very salty
so the next time I'm going to try the more expensive one....... My is going to try caviar for the first time so I'm really going to have to get the expensive one.
Actually not everybody likes caviar. And there is also the matter about different types have diferent flavors and textures which can be good or bad depending on the taste of each person.
@flyersfan1799
You probably won't get anything good for $40. That is if you specifically mean sturgeon roe. A cheaper, and by no means worse, alternative is the so-called "red caviar", made of salmon roe. I personally like it better than the sturgeon product. Probably because I prefer using it with vodka whereas sturgeon roe calls for a more gentle drink like champaigne. I frequently make my own from pike or carp (Cyprinus carpio). I made a batch of 6 pounds today for tomorrow's party.
What about a porcelain spoon?
not all true. I have a caviar spook spreader bowl aka jar and spoon and all are made of silver.
I'm gonna have to get some caviar. My friend steven eats everything from ghost peppers to rotten eggs, I wan't him to try it.
