2016
Burton Bell is a warrior, his vocal was absolutely destroyed by the "Therapy for Pain" but he gave zero shits. I respect that very much.
He's a viking
r.i.p
Guess you could say he "Tried so hard"..... I'll see myself out.
Что ты уважаешь? Идиот! Что он голос убил свой и ничего не делал? Крези ступид факин идиот! You!
@raven122199 and in the end it didn't even matter.
Well......Dino sounded great.
He's struggling with the vocals, and yet he carries on! I love Burton C. Bell!! One of my all time favorites!
I just can't listen to Burton sounding like this. It's tragic. His voice is fried.
true
I have so much respect for this band since high school in 1994 and now in 2023 I'm 49 years old and still jam to these guys! A++++++
I was in jr. high when Demanufacture came out, and I must've listened to it hundreds of times throughout the rest of the 90s, and still crank it occasionally nowadays. My favorite ever, easily. They really changed metal and they get almost no credit for it. Tons of bands now use their heavy industrial style, with the mix of screaming and clean vocals. I know they weren't the first to ever do that, but they were the first to do it to such an extreme.
It's nice to see Tony Campos gigging again after Static X.
Self Wellness Company Tony is an asswhole
He's had a few different gigs after Static X... Ministry, Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy, Prong.
so many experts in the comment section that have also been in a successful band for 34 years
I can't dislike burton, this band is my favorite, and probably ended :(
The dream is dead now, pal...
nope
Burton has stood the test of time...he has had a successful career. Years from now --- generations to come -- everybody will catch on and then it will be too late. I feel sorry for them. ~Fear Factory for LIFE~
lmao sorry sweetie but when a band sounds like this, you'll be forgotten as soon as you're gone. Love FF, but they should have called it quits a loooong time ago. This is totally heart-breaking and embarrassing to see the guys sound this bad :(
I love (most of) their albums. Saw them live twice. Dynamo '95 and a show in a club in Nijmegen (Holland). As much as i love this band, Burt's clean voice live was shit then and now. So fucking bad. Cringe.
sic3b The Obsolete era is amazing in terms of vocal live performance, I don't know what happened but between 97-00 he really stepped up his game.
No, they were strong in the 90s, his voice has failed. there are bands out there that do what they do a lot better, it's a shame because they inspired most of them bands.
Thing is, doing death growls for 30 years really takes its toll, I’m glad he’s still doing what he’s doing, but if he takes a long enough break then maybe he can get them working like they used to, another thing is old age, he’s getting up there so it’s to be expected for his vocal cords to be a little fucked up.

Thanks!
That was pointless most people who came here know what order the songs on demanufacture go in
Foreign signal, well maybe
Zero Signal.
"I am so numb".
Lost of faith, lost of trust,
but still love people.
To the Grave yards.
Lakes, wood!
Swamp.
Dead bodies walking.
Dead mans walking.
We are dead souls.
Need listen therapy for pain whole day.
Fakk! Where he is.
Somebody hide him, let`s find him.
Well, we are all friends.
Brothers, sisters.
Take care all.
Kick some bad corrupt arses! 😄
Burton C Bell - Creates unique vocal style that's hard to replicate live and performs a classic metal album at a festival when his voice is clearly fucked but still gives it everything he's got. People give him shit.....
Jake Ettle-Iles that’s how I see it dude.. he is still badass, and his been a fucking prodigy, if you will. Fuck other people.
Only the douche people criticise him and others who are out there doin great stuff, while these armchair critics find the next clip to wank to...
This is sad. Everybody deserve for respect.
We are people all.
Same Earth, same problems.
Do your karma all before too late.
This is very fair!
As a drummer I love Raymond Herrera (and Gene Hoglan too), but, Mike is making justice to drums on Fear Factory on all this years. Great respect!
Takes me back to 7th grade! Skipping school, smoking too much pot, ordering Papa John's with lunch money, and playing guitar all day.
Justin Butler i did the same bro lol
Theres no such thing as too much pot....
You were doing drugs in 7th grade??
The drummer played his parts as identical as possible to what Raymond Herrera did on the Demanufacture record which is splendidly magnificent, it's precisely what i would have done if i was the drummer of Fear Factory.
Amazing drummer
That snare tone is nice and poppy!
That's Mike Heller and he's awesome, Herrera was a beast in his own work, Heller is an amazing successor for sure
he's better than gene hoglan but 8:14 for example is wrong
@@tfwnoyandereyou’re out of your mind, not only is Gene universally considered one of the best metal drummers of all time he is by far the best drummer to ever play in FF. Listen to Mechanize. Raymond can’t play that stuff. Damn shame Dino F’d up that lineup too.
mike on the drums is so good.
awesome playing but that snare sounded horrible to me. Too high and poppy. Sounded like it needed to be tuned down a lot. That snare on the album sounded 100x better. Playing was spot on though.
Its always an awkward moment watching Burton sing cleans...i just wish they would get a second vocalist for those parts i love FF but come on dude!...his voice is done even his screams sound tired...pains me to say this because i grew up in the 90s loving these guys.
Yeah, it's sad that his voice is now so damaged that even the aggressive vocals sound tired and strained.
@@Demanufacture666 I think this is a particularly bad performance. He is obviously very tired here. Burton sounded way better on other shows on the Genexus tour. I prey he can still do the aggressive vocals!
@@revivedfears it's TRUE, I saw them live during the Genexus tours, was fucking amazing.
Yeah truly bad performance from Burton. I've been listening to FF since the 90s and I've heard his aggressive voice sound better (and even recently) but his live clean voice has always been dreadful. 20 years ago it was also painful to hear: czcams.com/video/2uchu3UzX44/video.html
He's the dry lung vocal martyr for a reason.
Y pensar que los conocí con la película Mortal Kombat y se transformo una de mis bandas favoritas, grande Fear Factory CSM!!!!
Me same!
A lot of acts now a days would’ve pulled but I give burton credit ..... the show must go on and I’m sure the fans appreciated it; ff for life
I can,t stop singing this!
Hell yeah! For those of you who haven’t listened to “Soul of a New Machine”, you need too! Shit was groundbreaking when it first dropped and still is. These guys are totally underrated!!!
Mosh 76 I agree! I saw Sepultura live in 1994 in New Haven CT and Fear Factory opened. Actually Clutch opened the show and FF followed. The crowd was booing Clutch waiting for FF, a band I had never heard before. The moment they started The place exploded Into a frenzy! They opened with Martyr and I got chills, seriously, when Burton sang Suffer Bastard in the middle of Martyr. I never heard anything like it, it was like death metal with chilling vocals. Been a fan since, seeing FF dozens of times over the years.
Underrated? Yeah I agree... They kinda came outta left field during that nu metal fad era... BUT... The problem is that 99% of their catalog is complete garbage. They've also released albums without a single redeeming quality in the entire album. Mix that with nothing worth listening to in ~15 years and yeah, they have and will continue to fade into obscurity... ;)
Steven Schaefer why are you even here??
@@stevenschaefer8896 they aren't "Nu Metal". They are from the early '90s Death Metal scene.
@@ledzepellinrocks Because sometimes I like to get lost in nostalgia. I liked Fear Factory when I was younger and I still like some of their songs, but most of their catalog is crap in my opinion. Also, I agreed in my comment, they're underrated. Are you ok bro?
Burton's vocal cords are dameged..I think he should rest for a while.
bullet rider they’ve been that way since about 2006. He’s a studio vocalist these days and that’s about it. Also I’m fairly certain with the condition his voice is in now, Genexis was their final album.
That's what happens if you sing incorrectly... I hear too much pressure in his voice which literally destroys the voice
Probably needs money I guess, also probably still loves performing.
@@mdrumt burton hates screaming.. He has done for years.
Fuck you and try to make it
I discovered Fear Factory in 1996 when they opened for Iron Maiden at the Birch Hill in Old Bridge NJ. FF immediately became my new favorite and I've seen them over a dozen times. FF is a closed club band. Enjoy and love it.
I last saw them at the Gramancy Theatre in NY for the 20th anniversary. It was awesome. And if you waited.... You got to hear about 2 tracks from most of their albums and then the entirety of Genxuis.
One of the best weekends ever! I remember being in the vip bar and couldn't believe my eyes when i saw Burton standing there! I just kept repeating "oh my god it's Burton"! Then later at the signing tent after meeting Gojira and having them sign my drum head, walking out and hearing Fear Factory playing Replica! Sitting down in the kraken area and drinking liquor and watching the rest of their set. Followed by Gojira and Mastodon that night. It was amazing. I fucking love Bloodstock and suggest everyone to go to the festival!
Awesome thanks for sharing! YEAH!
When these guys do come back I hope Burton gets some decent effects for his microphone, his voice is shot, but injecting some studio magic into their live performance would actually blend in fine with their sound.
One of my favorite albums of all time!!
A therapy for pain is a great SWANS type song, these guys were so inovative!
People dont know all the great influences they had . Godflesh, Swans, Killing Joke.
Love the Snare!!! Awesome show!!!
I have a lot of respect for FF and this album particularly. Burton...well, he is just not good live which is sad, but hey...we can put Demanufacture at home and enjoy the beauty of it. Still, FF is a great band and they made a great impact on metal music in 90's.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Tony Campos. Unsung NuMetal GOD!
I saw Fear Factory in Poughkeepsie, NY in 2015 I think and they sounded great as far as I remember.
I think it would be cool to hear a well put together choir sing the clean vocals.
FINISH HIM! ...at the start of Zero Signal. Nice one
This song should be on New MK Movie (maybe the best thing about the movie)
So epic is deserved an official music video for the Mortal Kombat 1995 film.
Also the Type O Negative - Blood and Fire (Out of the Ashes mix).
A collab track or two could have been interesting - American Gothic-Industrial metal
-I don't want to SING that way- :(
Burton will always be the master of metal vocalists, need Raymond back tho , Raymond is the real time machine!
Drummer is amazing the bass drum sound is awesome. massive respect for the FEar
Its a sample.
First saw Fear Factory on the Obsolete tour (w/Slayer and Kilgore). I was warned by those who had seen them during the Demanufacture and "Soul" era that Burton's voice was usually blown out after the first few shows of any tour. Went into the show knowing that. IIRC, he didn't end up doing so well on the clean vocals at that show. The rest was fine, but I'm sure that by the end of that tour he was as spent as he sounds here.
Anyways, this is normal. Everyone calm down. It's always been a thing. This is Fear Factory. Burton's voice can't sustain a tour, but yet they have to tour to make a living. Respect to him for always giving it his all, regardless of how fked it comes out.
Tony is always a beast on bass every time I’ve seen him live! It’s crazy how much attitude one bassist can have
Tony is one of the best bassists in metal. He might play simple stuff in static x but this dude can seriously shred if he needs to.
Bodyhammer absolutely crushes.
Mortal Kombat 1995 is what got me into FF!!! Fan ever since!! even with out Dino
46:08 - 😪😪😪😪 , burton must had been going through a tough time but you gotta admit that the guy is a LEGEND and he was actually one of the pivotal reasons for creating that unique Fear Factory sound along with Dino and Raymond but Mike Heller is a beast no doubt ( check out his side project MALIGNANCY, then you can see how awesome and monster of a player Mike is 🔥🔥🔥) , he did an absolute amazing job in playing out the Raymond’s parts so nicely . People might complain about Mike’s poppy snare tone but I personally love to tune my snare high too , tonality is pretty subjective , no offense guys … Cheers
I was gonna say I love that poppy snare tone.
@@manicmurph I do too, I think it works great for this catalog particularly
Poor Burton , I feel for him.
Its hard to sing growls all the time
Burton He completely destroyed his great voice after long years of brutal screaming...
I found FF when I watched the Mortal Kombat movie...zero signal is still one of the best songs ever!!!!
This is art, created by minimalistic, precise playing. Music can say much while using well chosen means.
minimalistic ?
BUena miauuuuri!!! no sabia que te cabia Fear Factory!
Seguro q estaba ahi en el pogo con awada y el pelado q la quiere buitrear
JAJAJJAJA que crackkk
These vocals are hard to sing as it is and going from clean to harsh is very difficult. I think he did an admiral job and really gave it all he could all things considering. FF rules!
its shouting and singing straight notes...not that hard tbh :D and he always fucks up his vocal due to lack of technique.....sad story but true....love fear factory but he kinda destroyed their live performances
Guys burton never knew how to sing.
Find a good live of him and show it to me.. Milo is better no doubt
@@tmp5636 I’ve seen Burton during the archetype tour and Milo this year and I thought Burton was better. He just has a better voice. I really dug Milo tho, but just need to work on his stage presence more, which can come with time.
If you watch Burton videos from the 90s he sounds much better there
@@vaevictis_ Better but completely out of power tone
The presence of burton was top notch but singing i think i dont need to see them in concert.
It's clearly that milo has a singing background.
Burton was good in studio
@@vaevictis_ I agree. Milo is a better singer no doubt, but compare Burton in his 30's (Archetype era) to Milo. Burton is just leagues better. He's a proper rockstar, or at least was. The voice, the look, the presence. Everything. Milo has zero presence in my opinion. Good singer, nice guy, but no star quality.
New Breed and Dog Day Sunrise are great here. Burton has his vocal problems, but who cares, he's still the best!
I fkn love/want that guitar!! 😬
Top demaissss
50 % Fear +50% Factory
bloody hell, this body hammer performance is so sad
Banda magnífica minha favorita de todos os tempos ! É uma pena o Burton ter saído da banda... Esse baterista é bom e talentoso porém não vejo a mesma empolgação e força que o Raymond tocava !
31:26 GOD HELP! :D:D:D:D:D
ROOSTER METAL ROFL
Animals of Fear Factory
Burton C. Bell - Rooster
Dino Cazares - Dinosaur
Tony Campos - Goat
Raymond Herrera - Horse
Damn this is crazy like American Idol - just alcohol and drugs messed up his voice? I'm think a legit voice coach with serious vocal repair exercises could still help - two smooth bands of muscle to be conditioned! Perhaps remanufacture them into cyberborg cords.
oh my god berry nice ! back to 95 !
божественно.....ждем в сталинграде-волгограде россия-приезжайте !!!!!!!!
In fairness, Burton has never sounded as bad *in* the live show as it seems *watching video* of a live show. It is sad watching performances where he struggles and it's definitely years of improper technique. But I also think that "unique" style, not just the growl itself but the anunciation, inflection, all of it - it's what made it so great. I don't know who this new singer is but Burton is still one of a kind to me.
4:15 burton doing his jello impression
Campos gets around 😈
Snare sounds like those practice pads you start with in 4th grade. FF, in the studio is still great. After seeing them in 2013 and now this, I can't. I'm still excited to hear Monolith though.
Todd B yea it sucks i hate piccalos
His voice not great anymore. But he is legend!
Fear Factory drums usually sound awesome but the snare here sounds kinda plastic and thin (yet a bit too loud.)
Simon Cowell has some feedback
But seriously I love Fear Factor and I respect it's not easy to maintain a voice for such a genre over the decades.
A real serious vocal coach might still be able to help! For me it sounds like he will have to explore new vocal techniques but it's totally possible. There's also some cutting edge surgery in Japan for repairing some types of vocal issues - RFKJ explored some and I can certainly hear an improvement - he has spasmodic dysphonia that makes any vocal activity difficult, not just some of the more advanced singing techniques.
Yellow Pages snare drum! Matching drum sticks!
Mike Heller played these songs perfectly on drums.
That snare is so fucking poppy. Poor Burton's voice. FF forever!
Ouch!
Barton's vocal cords are damaged... He needs rest and treatment.
So Sure :D, Exactly, he´s on diet or what?! :D I don´t know, but he´s terrible live singer unfortunately :(
His 90's live is wonderful. His voice was consumed. I'm sad.
He needs to retire more like.
It is part of process. After thirty years singing... Although I guess hes singing very well.
Oh come on man... Dino once said that Burton can't sing and uses auto tune in the studio. I've seen FF 5 times between '98-'05,he was always terrible. During last show i just left. I don't want to see FF live ever again. Still enjoying every new album though.
In the studio versions there seems to be a lot of modulation FX on Bell's clean vocals (such as chorus) - it might improve things if he did that live too. It's a simple case of hooking the mic through a pedal or switch box.
Sgrinwaipwr That would be pitch correction and the ”chorus”-effect would be warbling from correcting flat/sharp notes
@@spiderprint that's interesting to read. Still could he use more FX on his live vocals to improve his performance, do you think? Or do you have any other ideas?
There's a lot of reverb, delay and likely overdubbing on the albums. Delay and overdubbing sometimes resemble chorus. But yes, his vocals are very strictly pitch corrected. Which adds to the metallic, mechanical sound. I respect that he sings live but this sounds awful.
my band exhumation headlined the New Blood Stage this year! good set... i just remember the kick drum being so loud haha
Decinos cómo fue
People gotta stop giving Burton crap, dude had a bad show. Has he ever been a great clean live singer? No, but here his voice is just clearly inflamed most likely due to the long touring cycle they did for the Demanufacture anniversary. Every singer on the planet has had bad shows, off nights, blown their voice, it happens. I give him credit for not cancelling and trying to endure. You can hear him changing his screaming vocal style through the set to save his voice as much as he can, that is a professional. Going to miss his voice in FF from now on.
Fear Factoryの楽曲表現するのは素人が信じられない位とても大変です
バートンの喉は人間のレベルを越えていると思います。
My throat hurt only listening to Pisschrist 💀
Burton should do some treatment for his voice.. Anyways saw them in Barcelona with this tour and they sounded great
Exactly they sounded great both times i saw them too!!
Concord music hall and bigshots in 2015.
And i literally mean he sounded the best i think he's ever sounded. I think he's strained here and somehow got lessons or something in between this performance and when i saw them.
Damn
16:31 Whoops Burt!
Whoops what? It was spot on
man burton destroyed his fucking voice dude. he still gave it his all.
biblical....
50%fear ....50% factor y
Still to this day no one has figured out where burtons and Slipknot's S came from.
he is soo awesome but you can't deny he is struggling with the not so high high notes quite a lot which is a shame BUT He think he sounds pretty much like the cds which is PAWSOME :D
That snare though
Yeah, really doesn’t fit here. More of a grindcore sounding snare
pity so cool 90s band
That’s the bass player from static x.
🤘👊💥
10:17
30:40 wtf are these vocals??! lol
His voice is damaged. He needs help from prerecorded vocals.
I bet you guys wish that Dino was at your house. He went to my house for our super bowl party last year! :p
Did you have enough food for him?
Subi el hit del verano
El alma de Fear Factory es Dino Cazares, así que Burton tranquilamente puede ser remplazado, no da para mas su voz lastimosamente.
that was when Raymond left the band when Dino came back
Dino is still on fucking point
53:07 Dino is like “Burt…see me in my office please”.
I give a shit if Burton sounds a little weak here. These songs are classic and whoever still gets the vibes just needs to stick to the cd afterwards. It´s like a time warp. Love it!
I wish Roger Miret as a bypass vocalist here!
Ахуеть детство моё! Лайк, поцоны!
Солнечно-серое ностальгичное прошлое
I'd like to see the original lineup reunite.
You mean the lineup with Christian Olde Wolbers? Cause that's never gonna happen unfortunately.. unless Dino and burton get off their high horses
Rick Grimes S5 well if Christian and Ray wouldn’t have both been sleeping with their manager and doing other shady shit maybe Burt and Dino would trust them?
@@ThePhilVideos wow, is this true?
Fonzo Hernandez absolutely. Ray and Christian are not these innocent victims they claim to be. completemusicupdate.com/article/fear-factory-frontman-discusses-split/
@@ThePhilVideos Still doesn't mean it's true. Maybe Christian and Ray are lying but same goes for Burton and Dino. We weren't there after all. It still sucks cause they were better with Christian and Ray
watch?v=q8Gg7Sdukts 17 years later, no change in his vocals.
Wow Burton.. wow.
Poor FF...
