      @iloled2924 Před rokem

      @@nickgreatpwrful5754what “enables” theft is a bizarre tolerance for it, not “poverty”. Most of this mass retail theft phenomenon isn’t caused by people acting out of economic necessity or desperation. It’s down by dysfunctional losers who refuse to better themselves and can’t be bothered to do any honest work, and are instead motivated by criminal schemes to get “easy money”, and will fully take advantage of moronic “social justice” initiatives like woke DAs, defunded police departments and idiotic initiatives like prop 47. “Poverty” has little to do with it. Whatever “poverty” these people are experiencing is entirely driven by their criminal behavior and dysfunctional culture, not the other way around. Plenty of places in the world and the US with substantially higher rates of “poverty” and none of this lunatic behavior. Only in woke “progressive” dystopias like SF.

    • @dioxideuniversal

      I'm guessing everything that involves not truly cleaning up the messes of the people, policies, and party that enables the ultra rich to get infinitesimally more ultra rich while leaving ordinary people in poverty and consistently eroding their safety net, or ensuring the housing market is for people who need a place to live and not glorified gamblers.

They attract a lot of tourist shopping in the city while tourists are here seeing other things. Other Texans from smaller cities and town come into Austin specifically to shop the upscale stores here.
    So far we haven't had any mass shoplifting episodes here. I've been to S.F. several times. Market Street used to be such a vibrant retail shopping area of downtown. On my most recent visit, the place is more like a ghost town. It just went down so fast within a few years with the crime, the homelessness, the dirt and trash. Now, it's less appealing to stay at downtown S.F. hotels as there is not much for tourists to walk to. Safety is a major factor.

    I worked in this store in 1990. The design never made sense. It was not designed with safety in mind. But the area was never a super safe area. Nordstrom paid for security to escort employees to their cars 30 years ago.
    It doesn’t look like the store was updated. It was too much retail space in 1988 and that has not changed….
    Without people working downtown- there isn’t shopping. We didn’t get much tourist traffic 30 yrs ago…

    They should have closed a year ago. The city government have basically told every retail company that they do not care what the criminals do... however, they do care if the store even TRIES to stop a thief. The criminal is the protected elite of the city. I wouldn't step foot into 'Frisco... or even California for that mater.

    These stories just say these stores are closing because of decreased foot traffic. Well, there is a very good reason for the decreased foot traffic in these areas, but media will not discuss those because it is not 'politically correct'!
