How to solve the award winning Hanayama Cast O'Gear puzzle in 1 minute

Haven't done a Hanayama how to solve/solution video for quite some time. Mainly because I have been playing with more non-commercially available puzzles (read rare)....
But this is a great one, the Cast O Gear is an award winning puzzle in the 2001 IPP, so I had to pick this one up and solve it.

For me, when you go left, turn, and go turn the gear again then I won’t move onto the next gear do you have a solution for that?

thanks! not sure really, do you mean the one cutout which is unused? I tried to see if the star can be released from that but couldn't, maybe a red herring..
