    That's great lesson, I have learned all this as we are slowly moving from traditional breeding, where we didn't give much attention to some of these things.Goats rams especially quality ones are too expensive so to get rid of them so quickly will cost a farmers arm and leg.Thank you for this lesson again.

    Hi Bro, I watch your videos all the time. Thanks for your great job.
    I just got my exotic breeds from South Africa. I had similar idea you explained but with a modification. I got one Boer buck and one Kalahari Red buck.
    I’m about to buy about 60 female local goats and split 25 females for each buck. Then I will criss cross their offerings to each of the bucks,

    Very important ideas indeed. Please you made mention of your male serving a very limited number of females within the first mating season.
    WHAT WILL BE YOUR RECOMMENDATION TO NEW FARMERS. SHOULD WE BUY TWO MALES TO SERVE AT LEAST 30 AND ABOVE GOATS knowing that they're very expressive

  • @sikaban
    @sikaban Před 10 měsíci

    Correction, I will split 30 females per buck

    How do u write a tag , or wat information should be on the ear tags

    • @lakesidefarm3736
      @lakesidefarm3736  Před 8 měsíci

      Tags are usually already marked with numbers in ascending order. but there are those with nothing and you can come up with your own codes and names that are easy to use when keeping records.

  • @nalubowarehema1101
    @nalubowarehema1101 Před rokem

    Do you also give them different ear tags according to the breeds??

    • @lakesidefarm3736
      @lakesidefarm3736  Před rokem

      We are not into breeding yet we are just avoiding inbreeding, but we will turn this place into a breeding farm when we finally take the rest of the goats away.

    It also brings to my attention
    To avoid inbreeding, when the babies also reach the time of meting, which one do you give the new ones

    • @lakesidefarm3736
      @lakesidefarm3736  Před rokem +1

      Hi, Savanna babies are given to the meted by the boer and boer babies are meted by the Savanna

    If I have two bucks (twins), can I use one to serve kids belonging to the twin brother?

    • @lakesidefarm3736
      @lakesidefarm3736  Před 27 dny

      I wouldn’t advise that, although if you don’t repeat this cycle you will not have serious effects.

  • @nalubowarehema1101
    @nalubowarehema1101 Před rokem

    Then also my another question is when those kids also are ready to breed,??
    What do you have to do??

    • @lakesidefarm3736
      @lakesidefarm3736  Před rokem

      You have to keep coming up with new flocks as you grow. Hammis explained it and that is why we are moving to a bigger place because we are going to need at least 2new flocks

  • @continentalrecaps7522

    I really need to talk to you because in the next 5 months I want to start this project

  • @nalubowarehema1101
    @nalubowarehema1101 Před rokem

    In my opinion,
    That means that making flocks depends on the male??

    • @lakesidefarm3736
      @lakesidefarm3736  Před rokem

      It’s just a small part of it, there is breeding and easy stock keeping by knowing the different ages of your animals.

  • @jasonarinaitwe8618
    @jasonarinaitwe8618 Před rokem

    Don't the bucks mate with the female goats anyhow while in the fields feeding if they are on free range?
    How is that prevented?

    • @lakesidefarm3736
      @lakesidefarm3736  Před rokem +1

      That’s why we made an enclosure for the one that is not supposed to serve. It’s on zero grazing. It’s only the one that serves on free range
