Love how the house is changing and transforming with your loving touches, it'a really inspiring! So glad for the eco-friendly suncream, I was devastated to learn that so many products are harmful for the environment, especially coral reefs and after seeing them in the Maldives myself, I changed to a better, more environmentally friendly option! But I'll have to try the one you recommend if it's so good!

Charlie, that's a very technical term 'pusher-downa-er' ... love it! The garden will be even more beautiful when all the flowers are blooming. That pretty little white flower spilling out of the next garden bed you mentioned before is Alyssum - called Sweet Alice it also comes in purple and a pale purple and white and a pinkie purple ... looks lovely on borders and in pots, they also attract "beneficial insects" to the garden so can be planted between vegetables. A dwarf version is also available. I do hope you looked up Garden Answer on CZcams - a mine of garden info. 𧀠đ·

The flower beds might need a bit of feed and digging some manure or compost will help brake up the soil you could sprinkle fish..blood and bone powder as a feed for plants etc đđ
Yes I've been thinking the same. It would be a shame all that hard work was to go to waste. The soil needs nourishing just as skin does. It is certainly a beautiful house & garden.

Good Evening Josie - I simply adore and respect how eco/environmentally conscious both yourself and Charlie are in all areas of your lives. A lot of people lack awareness on what effect the things we use and consume on a daily basis has on our environment. E.g. sun cream. I love the new brands/companies out there producing things that are more eco/environmentally friendly as well as being more sustainable. Also not forgetting the existing brands who are now changing and evolving to also be this way. Lovely to see how the house and garden are developing, goes to show how the progress achieved each day really compounds. More so, it is a joy to see you settling in and having this adventure đđ„đâïžđ€

That white flowered low- growing border plant you mentioned in the last vlog is called Alyssum. It is very easy to grow and long flowering so I wouldn't worry if you feel the need to move it or divide it up. It's unlikely to die!
As a lazy gardener myself I always could rely on it to grow again from its own seed each year and thrive through the heat of Summer.

at summers end I get a micro dermabrasion on my face & hands from the summer sun. We go boating as well & my skin gets dry during the summer. Once I have this done my face looks like it is kissed by the sun, I do not forget the back of my hands they get so exposed to the sun. I love that it is you & Charlie that are tending to your gardens & land of the manor ,it makes it all the more rewarding. It was like out of a story book to see the little lambs frolicking about ! I think you have the perfect yard to build an outdoor brick oven which could be used as a fireplace and/or cooking. Would definitely be great for garden parties.
I love that Tropic SPF are so earth friendly and how nice the consistency is more like a regular moisturizer! Maybe more people will be inclined to use it daily! I hope all sun products will soon become environmentally friendly. Remembering your hands is very important, as well as your dĂ©colletage, the back of your neck and your ears! I refuse to have to wear a turtleneck every single day in my golden years! Crepey, chicken skin or wrinkled leather is not the look Iâm going for when Iâm âof an ageâ! đđ„°
I want to preface this by saying I am far from being a master gardener and there may very well be a major difference in soil types that Iâve experienced than yours. But preparing the beds for planting always seemed to include amending the soil in some way. Either mixing in bags of potting soil, humus, compost, etc. to help aerate and enrich the soil and it seemed to prevent further clumping and kept the soil a finer crumble, or there are also other amendments depending on the needs of what you plan to grow that will make the soil more alkaline or acidic.
The amending and mixing of the various soils was my least favorite part of gardening, but the soil seemed to stay in a looser and more drainable consistency. But seriously, do your research, because I pretty much limit my gardening to pots and containers since my landscaping is well established with perennials and evergreens. Plus, I never considered myself anything but a novice gardener that knows a bit how to research... and Iâm not hesitant to ask tons of questions of the experts! đâșïžđ
I noticed your utensil drawer to the left of the Aga was sticking a bit. Have you tried rubbing some paraffin wax or a bar of soap on the runners? Basically everywhere the wood touches wood, humidity can make it stick and not slide easily.
All your fresh food laid out on your countertop looked like it was staged for a magazine. Everything from the different colored fresh eggs, the boule bread, sliced lemon, to the apples and bunch of rhubarb! Maybe itâs the fresh flowers in the background or the fact that itâs all happening in a lovely country manor... but it was so aesthetically pleasing and seems so idyllic!
Of course, watching the boys frolic together is always a treat, but Dexter snuggled down near you while you worked on the blanket was so sweet and picturesque! Another enjoyable vlog! You need a maddox tool for turning over that soil. It's much less effort than a shovel. It's a bit heavy but that helps if you use it right.
With the flowers beds, I think the soil quality needs improving and that's why it's so dry! Add some manure / blood, fish & bone / chicken pellets! Will improve the quality and help to retain moisture!
Thank you so much for sharing your walks. I love seeing the English countryside that my aunt/godmother loved so much and longed to return to. It makes me feel connected to her as she loved a good English garden or labyrinth. She joked the closest she got in the US was a corn maze. đđ

You could buy a shredder and use the mulch in your garden,or compost it, much more environmentally friendly than a bonfire,as long as the wood isn't diseased. đ

I just wanted to mention that the music is a bit too loud compared to the chatty bit and I have to jump every time it starts to put the volume down to make sure my baby doesn't wake up. And then again to increase the volume when the music stops to be able to hear your voice.
