The Senate & Legislature are the Policy Makers who can create policies for Professional Development among the Healthcare Providers....yet there are no policies over the past twenty years so these type of hearings need everyone to come with a solution to address the problem & create definite policies (small & big) ....so please make laws instead of acting like a correctional body.....
It's just a suggestion, but maybe a representative from Hope Dialysis Center should have been contacted as well. People here in American Samoa also pay taxes (in a much lower bracket), but they do. Medicaid was created as a means to assist patients cover the 20% costs - so why shouldn't American Samoa have that same opportunity? And there is no way that Hope Dialysis Center can merge with LBJ - it's non-transferrable. We're the only unit with a nephrologist, not to mention CMS certified. LBJ is unable to take on 50+ patients - they run from 12am-11pm daily. What does that mean? Their RO (water filter system) isn't being flushed = Dirty Water. We need to do better before June 30th!
Grateful for this podcast. There is much work & review for solutions thank you Sandra King for your service & leadership
