  • Confidence is a skill that people across the Internet seem to have lots of feelings and beliefs about. As a person with ADHD, if you’re like me, being confident and feeling confident hasn’t come easily. ADHD and confidence issues is something most of my clients share with me, and it’s one area I really can relate to. Heck it took me multiple shoots to get this video right because I wasn’t confident I would get it right!
But, even with its challenges, confidence is one of those “required” skills that we need in order to make friends, try new things, set out on a new adventure or even just be ourselves without masking or hiding.
So how do you develop confidence? Great question that doesn’t have such an easy answer. A lot of it comes down to practice and feeling safe. When you feel safe, you’re able to take risks and step out of your comfort zone. Confidence is the feeling you have BEHIND the actions you want to take.
Want to ask someone out? Feeling confident gives you the courage to put yourself out there.
Want to apply for a new job? Feeling confident is the belief inside of you that you’re not only qualified for the job, but that you should try to get it.
And if you want to make a joke, confidence is the belief inside of you that your joke is going to land and make the room giggle along with you.
Lack of confidence stops us in our tracks. Hiding in your room is a lot easier than taking a risk out in the world. So in this video, I share the ins and outs of ADHD and confidence issues.

Thank you so very much for this video!!! It's like you say - I don't know why more people don't talk about this issue. I've been struggling with understanding why I'm having such a hard time with knowing how to approach social situations, meet new people and not letting the daily, hateful comments I hear on the street, for one reason or the other, get to me. I couldn't understand why it affects me so much, when these comments are from people that are not important to me in the slightest - now I'm starting to get it. I guess it should be something obvious, but it really isn't? I didn't realize how much all of this might be connected to ADHD too.
Your video was very helpful, thank you again ♥ Things are starting to make sense now for me.

I'm often thinking negative things and feel like I need to mask my true self (introvert) in order to be outgoing and confident. Like I'm mostly unhappy but in order that people like me I need to be someone else who is already happy and supportive.

I hear this so often. Ok introverts are the best. I was raised by an introvert. One of my close friends is an introvert. I hope this community helps to give you the feeling that who you really are is awesome. Confidence is so key. I have just been really feeling this for like a year. Its so important. Keep commenting. And lets figure out how to unmask. Caroline
