We LOVED that BFB curriculum! My best advice is to take your time with it because there is so much amazing information in there. My middle school kids did it with us as part of our morning time and they loved it too.

This year, we have used Beautiful Feet Around the world with picture books with my 2nd grader and kindergartener. It has been a huge hit. I beef it up with addition library books, documentaries, and cultural activities. So for us, it covers science (you learn about a ton of animals), history and geography, and art. We really just do LA and Math additionally. We do the notebooking, and I'm very relaxed about it, I don't expect perfection. They write a couple sentences about what they have learned whenever we paste in the images that they colored. They have learned so much and they love showing Daddy

We thoroughly LOVED BF ATW!!! It sounds like it would be perfect for your crew. We beefed it up with ALL the library books, videos, etc!

I'm pretty sure we are going to use five in a row next year for K,1st,3rd,4th,and 6th grader. I love what I see with it!

I have a spread of ages too 13, 11, 9, 7, and 3. We always used to do family school but it became crystal clear last year it was time for bigs and littles in groups. Things finally smoothed out in our homeschool after we adjusted to that but I do miss it. We still sometimes do morning time together but it is different now and that is okay.
For the littles this year we are doing Idlewild Curriculum two days a week and Beautiful Feet Around the World With Picture Books two days a week. It’s been working out really well and it’s been a lovely balance. It’s been a great investment as well because it will last more than one year.
Have you considered doing literature based but doing it in a more interest led approach? When we do these curriculum with my younger set of kiddos I am very relaxed with it and I allow pretty much any valid interest based rabbit trail they want to go down. We research and ask questions and look up videos. They have been super engaged and excited even the 3 year old and we make notebooking pages to log it.
Another thought I had is that for a while when my 3 year old was a crashing two year old I would plan as many times as I could when my husband was home for the reading portions of our curriculum and he would play with her. Then we did any hands on things all together when she could be active.
Also my own opinion, but we started Sonlight last year and used a big kid level and a little kid level and preschool. This is our second year and for levels D and above I love Sonlight! I like so much I have been purchasing grades ahead with extra money. But I agree that the younger years could use more picture books. And some of it seemed disjointed and the random history topics went over my kiddos heads. This year’s plan is going much better for us. But also my older kids are completely thriving in Sonlight and even my littles will wander in and out and listen to some of it very engaged. Best of luck!!

We won't be doing science and history together next year either. My rising grade 8 prefers to work alone. So we will all be separate. I'll be doing a video on it soon
