To me, this is what Lament of Innocence should have been. I believe it uses the same engine, but it's superior in every way. The game plays faster, the castle is more fun to explore, the music is better, the monster-training thing works surprisingly well, and it's just a good time all-around. Not... sure about Isaac's design, though. What the heck is he wearing!?
Anyway, the Xbox version I'm playing here has some weird visual quirk not present in the PS2 version. Basically, the top and bottom parts of the screen are "glitchy", probably due to being in the overscan part of CRT televisions, still common at the time. I enlarged the image a little to remove the visual glitch after a while in the first stream, but in the last upload I forget to fix it again for a while. Otherwise, both versions of the game are exactly the same. And since the Xbox version is cheaper, that's the one I got.
I managed to get most monster evolutions, though for some reason I didn't have the final mage one recorded even though I did do it. I'm also not sure about the "chair-sitting" sidequest there is in this game, it's so weird. Otherwise, I think the Death battle is the coolest one we've had in the entire franchise so far!
The Japanese title, "Akumajou Dracula: Yami no Fuuin", literally translates to, "Demon Castle Dracula: Curse of Darkness". Woah! The subtitle is exactly the same in Japanese and English!
